  1. 1. My experience with MMC is - I will never ever ever deal with those people. ( I bought new Cayenne there). It was most degrading experience ever. If anyone wants to hear more with names of people let me know. (I have wrote to PCNA about it) 2. Your clutch will fail with all this stuff inside since guide sleeve and clutch release bearing would not slide back and force along the axe and engage and disengage. Sometimes even small amount of dust and crooked pressure plate will make them stuck. I am not a big expert but my guess is that first your clutch plate got shredded (my guess would be it is difficult to shred it so bad in 5 miles of any kind of driving, so check with MMC) and after all that debris was inside it failed to engage P.S. hard to tell from pic but look at the pressure plate and see if it is not cracked (happens as well)
  2. Hi wvicary, I have looked through all TSBs but found nothing. Which one do you refer to? thanks in advance (2009 CT)
  3. lucky you can choose I tried to put non-"N" tires and every mechanic I went to refused to mount them. had to re-order but the difference in price was Euro 5/tire. I doubt there is much difference based on that price.
  4. the most frustrating part not the fact that they dont repair/replace clear manufacturing defects or treat customers (outside USA) as dirt it is the fact that they continue produce cars with the same defects. that is why you can have toyota engine with 200k miles but almost never porsche. i am not talking about small repairs which is a totally different game(the amount of small F£$%ups Porsche has is incredible)
  5. tried search but didnt find the answer. can a remote from a key from cabrio be used on coupe 996? what happens to the third button in that case or more importantly will it open car and trunk. P.S. (it does have bar code with 20 digits etc, only need remote so dont care about immo pill). thanks in advance
  6. I am not disappointed simply because I have low expectations. After I had major problem (coolant pipes and scorched cylinder walls) on my Cayenne which is only 20k miles I stopped believing all this "German quality", "customer care" nonsense which is fairytale for showroom sales pitches. They have smart business model - people who matter (buy new) who drive cars up to 3-4 years old on average put low mileage and whoever buys a car after that plays lottery but who cares? (look at IMS in 996, scorched cylinder walls in Cayennes). How many manufacturers are in business which have engines with major problems under 60k miles? well, apart from Lada
  7. ha-ha, in the US they actually do something because they are scared to get sued. in Europe they couldn't care less. if you get something out of them consider yourself lucky. my own experience - as car came out of warranty pressure plate cracked at 20k miles. (Mrs Daisy driving). ok, things happen and I asked Porsche if they care to help with a clear manufacturers defect on a 2 year old car. The answer I got from Porsche technical department (Stuttgart) is what really impressed me. They said that while car was under warranty I changed clutch myself and installed it incorrectly which led to pressure plate splitting. ... I know the clutch I had was the original one and I wish I was able to change it myself but I couldn't so they only way I interpreted that response is :" Go enjoy yourself" Hope you have better luck.
  8. someone has to crack PCM software for that (this disks are in PET for $30 each) so I would guess that Sunset disk includes unlock code for that price.
  9. http://cgi.ebay.de/VW-Touareg-Phaeton-Jetta-PDC-Parksensor-1U0919275-/230561054945?pt=Autoteile_Zubeh%C3%B6r&hash=item35ae8280e1 they are all the same touareg-jetta etc rear bumper is 1 hour job, front -2 hours max. (better with 4 hands)
  10. there is DVD and they "retail" for about $30 with update maps. It states on the cover "do not give to customer" (i have three versions of them) but they are worthless without activation code which dealer gets from Porsche after paying for it. Most dealers in Europe now also adopt this line "there is no way to install european maps on US car" - I am a living proof that that is BS. cost me Euro600. An exception is if you purchased factory pick up. Then your car will have european maps for you to drive around europe but will be recoded before being shipped to US
  11. mine was dead for years.issue arose with replaced keys. you may have dead control unit. dealer can tell with PIWIS
  12. a. 2.5 tons not 3.5tons b. compared to which SUV is it slow? P.S. it would be silly to compare it to gt2 rs?
  13. i am confused about your point. according to you i have Euro spec socket (even though Cayenne only have one type of sockets for all markets and not sure how 996/997 issues are relevant to me with 2009 Cayenne but be it as it may) into which i tried to plug Euro plug, which I made sure doest short anywhere. You suggest I change sockets and connectors? Or should I just put a higher fuse of 7.5A and make sure white connector is secure which is what I have done and what works for me?
  14. A. my car is US spec B. PET shows only one type of socket for all markets C. size of plug and socket was not an issue but fuses and connectors were
  15. This is where I have ended up. Tried to charge through sockets and 3rd party cigarette lighter plug with no success. All fuses in the 3rd party connectors blow out. Finally connected directly with wires to sockets under glove compartment through a fuse. Minimum strength fuse that I have found is 7.5A while anything less blows up. White connector on CTEK is of poor quality, pins tend to come out and even if they dont come out contact is very unreliable. Had to clean pins, put silicon grease, made sure connection is secure and only then it started charging. Any problem in the connection CTEK charger starts cycling through the battery condition lights and doesn't charge anything.
  16. There are by now four (I believe) different software versions in Homelink and some older ones may not work with recent garage door openers. go to their website and look for compatibility matrix
  17. the "Check oil level" light keeps coming up. When I measure with the stick the level is OK. the Light comes up again. WTF? I have read on other forum it has something to do with hood lock switch. Anybody knows what the problem is ? PIWIS shows no errors
  18. after 3 keys all dying within 2 years I stopped replacing them.
  19. many thanks for the answer but the issue is that ctek 7....(something something) only cycle when plugged in 12v outlet or lighter socket but not when connected in the engine compartment. i also got totally dead battery as a result. this is such a pain. I park in a communal garage and cannot leave charger in engine bay as it is hot. leaving charger outside means someone will cut it off...
  20. Weird problem. I got CETK and tried to plug it into cigarette lighter socket or 12V sockets in the luggage compartment. It doesn't charge a battery at all. The same charger works great when I hook it up to + and - in the engine compartment. So the charger is OK. all sockets and fuses are fine, but once I plug CTEK into sockets it starts showing in circular fashion empty battery, half, fully charged and then again empty, half ... and on an on etc etc. Battery doesn't charge. is there some sort of protection in Cayenne that cuts of those sockets? What is the best place internally to connect it to? P.S. Cayenne 2009
