  1. The top is stuck half way up ...brake light on battery ok. Any ideas?
  2. $225.49 plus $90 core charge ...which you get back of course. Lifetime warranty.
  3. I took my alternator to a rebuild shop...they rebuilt it. I put it on and it would work for a while then go to 12 volts, start the car later it would work. They tested it good and tried to say it was my grounding. Long story short ...the rebuilt alternator would quit when the temp in engine compartment got to operating temp. Bought a rebuilt one at Auto Zone and it fixed the problem after taking the alternator in & out 3 times. I got pretty good at it!!
  4. I have a charging problem with my Porsche 2000 996. If I charge battery the meter reads 14 volts for a while then goes to 10 volts and all kinds of lights go on. I had the battery tested good. Removed alternator and it tested good at Auto Zone. I checked wiring from alternator to battery ...tested good. Could it be that the test at Auto Zone was not accurate? Any ideas? Is there any fuses to the regulator that controls the alternator? I took the alternator to an auto electric shop and they said the regulator and diodes were bad ...they are repairing it. So much for Auto Zone testing. Will keep you posted on final solution. Solved the problem ...was the alternator after all. They replaced regulator and Diodes for $145 and we are back on the road. So much for Auto zone testing.
  5. Is there a substitute VW alternator for a 2000 Porshe 996?
  6. Does anyone have info on how to replace alternator on 2000 996?
  7. Did you get any ifo on replacing alternator. If so could you pass it on
