    I just replaced my original Continentals (18's - 2001S) with the Potenza RE050A's. This after many hours of reading the customer feedback on the TIRE RACK web site. My car has only 9k miles on it and the Conti's still looked brand new but they were 6 years old, dried up and the rears were getting noisy. So far I'm very happy. I don't drive in the rain (at least haven't got caught in it yet) but the feedback indicated that these were good wet tires. They look good too and I like both the sidewall and the tread design. These are plenty sticky (I could just blow the old ones off with the throttle). I have about $900.00 in these after mounting. For 17's....and to save some $$$ I would look very seriously at the Kumho's Ecsta SPT's that the TIRE RACK offers. The feedback was outstanding and at only about $450.00 a set (delivered) they are a steal! Only $95.00 for the fronts and $101.00 for the rears.     Is there any way to hack the fogs to be on all the time (by themselves) to use as DRL's? If this can be done, what whiter looking bulbs can be used without melting/discoloring the lenses?

    I just tried the DRL hack less than 20 minutes ago - it gives you full strength low beams whenever the key is on (which I did not want - I wanted the fogs to be on or half-strength beams). Anyway, when I removed this unwanted mod I found that my passenger side headlamp was very dim because the stupid Radio Shack fuse taps stretched out the fuse terminals on the bottom of fuse #9 so far that it no longer makes contact without re-inserting the fuse tap piece. I hope this will be ok - seems to be. I sure dont want to have to replace the fuse panel!

    My first post here (joined today) My 2001 986S w/9,000 miles has an issue with the plastic rear window. I bought the car about 16 months ago with only 6,200 miles on it. The car is absolutely like brand new but the first time I lowered the top the rear window buckled and I almost ruined it. A session with a hair dryer got it back into shape but ever since then I have had to get out and smooth the window into the correct folding bend with a soft towel when lowering it - I might as well not have a power top at all!. My brother has a '99 with only 4K on it (bought new) and his top (window) works perfectly. I searched factory TSB's and the only notation I saw was that Porsche stated that creasing damage of the plactic window is "not a warranty issue". One dealer Tech I know said to lower the top with a rolled-up towel in the window to "train" it into folding properly - no dice. What is the fix? I want to be able to pull over and put the top down from the driver's seat without damaging the window.
