  1. Yes, the bail. That makes me feel a bit better. But there is clearly dry coolant encrusted around the 8 screws that anchors the bleeder valve to the reservoir, in addition to coolant vapor condensation all over the trunk lid. Does that mean the bail failed? Or do I just need to replace the O-rings, as suggested by wiki? http://boxster.wikia.com/wiki/Engine_%26_Transmission#Coolant_Bleeder_Valve_O-Ring_Replacement_Procedure_.28from_Porsche_Joe.29 The PN for the cap is 996 106 447 01, so I guess this is out of date since the latest version is 04? I guess i'll just replace the orings and the cap, if you guys think the bail is working fine.
  2. 2004 Boxster 95Kmi Just swapped a new water pump, thermostat and a bunch of hoses. New porsche coolant and system is working well. Noticed after a long drive, and coolant is hot, the trunk lid where covers the filler area is damped with coolant vapor. Checked the bleeder valve, it's FLOATING up (as in it's the cooling system is losing pressure thru it). I think it's not suppose to do that. ?? Can this part be replaced without swapping the tank? Found this PN on autoatlanta: 996-106-347-01 for $40.
  3. the vertex ctrl arms are fine. they rebuild their track arm (the ones that runs along the length of the car) with polyureathe bushings, which are stiff but makes some noise as you go over bumps and ramps.

  4. Guys, Don't be like me and try to save a few bucks and order shocks thru these 3rd rate vendors like eshock.com (aka Don's auto parts, aka egauge.com). Ordered my shocks early DEC, 2010. Got an email saying order confirmed, all OK, no shipping information. Mid- DEC, nothing, so I called Don, "o, your shocks are backordered, and it's xmas coming up..... so maybe early Jan ?" OK fine. Early Jan, called Don again, o yea, Bilstein was closed, you know for xmas and the bad weather.... so yea, maybe next week? Mid-Jan, called Don again, o, we really have NO IDEA when your shocks are coming, sorry. did we get your hopes up? TODAY 1/17, 35 days after order, order cancelled. M. :offtopic: :cursing:
  5. Having to press bushing in and out is too much trouble, so I got the rebuilt ctrl arms ($139ea) AND track arms ($119ea) from VERTEX, i hope they are good as they claim. Next cheapest parts are new ones from TRW sold by Pelican for ($188ea) but out of stock. My garage told me that my shocks are fine, not leaky, but suggest that I get new ones since they already have 90k mi. I checked shox.com they are ($850) for a set of Bilstein. Can anyone tell me if i should get 'HEAVY DUTY' or 'SPORT' to go with my H&R springs? This is a costly repair job. THANKS! :drive:
  6. 2004 Boxster, daily driver, 18" with H&R kit. 90K mi. US, 5spd manual My ride has gotten so harsh over bumps and bad roads. So i went under to check the control arm bushings. Sure enough it's gone crackin on me (see pictures attached). Should I get new control arms ? or the rebuild ones from VERTEX auto? They are about same price $138. THANKS! :drive:
  7. just joined the forum and wanted to say hello to everyone! 2004 Boxster 18" factory rims H&R Sports Kit B&M Short shift :renntech:
