  1. Wanted to check in and see if there is any interest in this day so we can plan the upcomming weekend. David
  2. Hey guys, sorry for the silence... Loren, Chuck and I came up with a date we thought would work. I think Loren was going to post it soon. (I think it may be Sept 12th) but we'll keep you posted. BTW, very cool project! I remember those cars... I built a similar car back when I was about 20. Great little car, and wish I still had it. David
  3. Hey Loren, Chuck, Mark and the Rentech members.... if anyone interested in a repeat of this event, let us know. Mary and I are willing to host another one if so. David
  4. Hey guys, just wanted to check in. Looking forward to having folks up on the 1st. Should be a fun day hanging out and working on cars. Heres a couple pics from the last event we had up at the house: David
  5. Thanks everyone for coming up to our home yesterday! Mary and I had a great time meeting you all, and it was a fun day for us. The neat thing about cars is they bring people together, and I can say for certain that the Porsche folks we met yesterday are great company and just good decent people. Thanks again for Chuck and Loren for bringing this together, you really organized a great event. I tried to take a few pictures through the day, and Mary even managed to take time to smell the flowers ;) http://www.gtmbuild.com/galleries/misc/SAC_WOCD1/ If the community is interested, we are willing to host an event quarterly. David and Mary Borden P.S. Loren, or Chuck feel free to post these pics elsewhere if you desire.
  6. If anyone needs to reach us or get clarification on directions, give me a ring on the cell at 916 849 8153. David
  7. Just an FYI, Mary and I will be providing some basic fair to eat. Burgers and Dogs... If you want to BBQ something else, you're welcome to bring it and cook it up. If you have a special bevrage you like bring it along and we can throw it in the shop fridge. See you all tomorrow... David
  8. Hey all... Doug, no problem on the Pizza's. Mary and I are happy to make a costco run and pick up some burgers and buns and we can BBQ in the noon-one time frame if that sounds good to folks also. It might be fun break. Either way is fine with us... David
  9. Hey all. Looking forward to meeting the group that comes up to the house/shop for the event. It should be a really fun day to hang out and get a few things done on the cars! A big thanks to Chuck and Loren for organizing this for the community! Mary and I are really looking forward to meeting you all. Im spending tomorrow organizing the shop a bit and getting ready for it. Take care, David PS, if you need any small welding done, I can probably help with that also.
  10. As the title states... any really good body shops in Sacramento/Folsom area you would highly recommend? Our 2001 996 Gemballa Conversion was backed into yesterday. It pushed in the rear fender right right in front of the wheel about 1 inch. Also impacted the inner fender a bit. I hate bondo... the repair needs to be 100%. Got any guesses on how it needs to be repaired? Pull and work the metal straight, or new quarter? Any help would be greatly appreciated. David
  11. So I tested the evap solenoid that triggers when you push the flap inside the filler and it appears to trigger fine. Hear a click right under the finder by the filler. Anyone have any advice on what to check next? Any TSB numbers I should check? David
  12. Man, thanks so much! I thought there would be a 1 in a 100 chance someone would know about this... I'll post once I learn more. I guess Im lucky in that its a 2000 S.(should have put that in my original post) David
  13. Guys, Heading out to my sisters house on Thanksgiving, we stopped to fuel up the boxster. I started pumping gas, and it immediatly started spraying out of the nozzle. Almost as though there was somthing in the filler preventing the bulk of fuel to pass into the tank. Thinking it was a problem with the pump, I moved the car to another pump and had the same problem. The car had maybe 1/8th tank of fuel. Once we got the car home, there was a slight burning smell, as though the car was running hot... but the guage was showing a normal temp. I was literally sprayed with fuel.. had to go home and change cloths and cars to get to my sis's house about 3 hours from home. Got any ideas? Im still very confused on what the heck happened... seemed right out of the twilight zone. David
  14. How does it sounds? Can you give me an idea how much volume is required for that woofer? David
  15. Hey Guys, New to the forum. We own a 88 cab, and just got a 2000 Boxster S. We live up in El Dorado, about 10 miles west of placerville. I have a nice 30x50 shop with a lift and most every tool. I would be open to hosting such an event if you all are interested. We kinda live out in the country, nice relaxing place. 30 minutes from the heart of sac and about 17 minutes from folsom. David
  16. Title says it all... New Boxster owner and forum member. The check engine light came on and got the code P1119. I understand it to be the pre cat O2 on bank 2. Can anyone tell me what side of the car is bank 2 or what side relates to P1119? Need to take the car for a smog test and figure I should get this handled. David
