  1. Porsche said that the rust is depending on the car usage so there is nothing to do with the material, conception and/or the manufacturing. I was very surprised as it looks like that is always the owner's fault ... for a car that has done all services at Porsche center. Take note that the shocks are original equipment and the area were I leave (Switzerland) is cold during winter season and sometime it snowing maybe a couple of times per year, however I clean the car every time after the winter season.
  2. I'm the 2nd owner and can guaranty you that it is in a perfect condition since 2007 when I bought it and all services have been made by a Porsche center.
  3. Hello, Do you know if this is a normal behavior that the front suspension has this level of corrosion with an high risk to break? I wrote a complaint letter to Porsche but just received a ridicoulous response. Shell we wait for a fatal accident before a manufacturer take its responsibilities in terms of road safety? Looks like similar situation as the issue with the floor mat retainer. I had to pay to resolve the issue where this should be a manufacturer responsibility to recall all affected cars. Kind Regards, Liberato
  4. Hello, Does anyone have the Porsche PIWIS software v34 Multilanguage? I need to reinstall the PIWIS software from scratch post an hard disk failure replaced with an SSD. Best Regards Liberatod
  5. Does anyone know if I can replace on my 996 4S model 2004 an acid battery MOLL with P/N: 99961108020 with one of the following AGM models: Banner Running Bull 58001 AGM Banner Running Bull 58001 AGM Porsche OEM with P/N: 99961108012 In fact my Porsche dealer told me that this is not possible as it could break the alternator !!! As I don't believe this is true, hope someone can help to confirm my assumption. Kind Regards Liberato
  6. Hello All, After 2 years troubleshooting and making multiple tests, I finally found the root cause of the problem and requested to get it escalated to Porsche AG in Germany. In fact the amplifier was replaced 2 times with the last version with P/N: 996.645.333.07 but it generated always a random bump on the rear speakers after opening the door and sitting inside the car. In some occasions there was no sound from the PCM or the sound come only from the front channels ... Be aware that this issue is happening in very cold operation condition close to +- 0 degree Celsius. The workaround is to replace the amplifier with the version 996.645.333.05 which is the only workable model. Loren, do you know if this issue can be escalated to Porsche North America in order to see if there is any evidence available? In any case I think Bose should take their responsibilities and explain what is wrong on the amplifier 996.645.333.07 Best Regards, Liberato
  7. The amplifier has been replaced 2x times by the local Porsche dealer but the issue is still the same and has not been fixed yet. Basically, anytime I open the door of my 996 4S (specially in the morning time with very cold temperatures outside between -2 to +5 degrees Celsius) and sit inside the car, there is a big bump on the rear speakers. After 1 year troubleshooting this problem, I have the feeling that it is caused by the Bose amplifier itself with P/N: 996.645.333.07 I do remember that my 996 4S model October 2004 had a previous version of the Bose amplifier with P/N: 996.645.333.05 and it worked very well for years. Anybody knows what is the difference between the following Bose Amplifiers listed below and how to escalade this issue to Porsche engineers? 996.645.333.03 996.645.333.05 996.645.333.07 Best Regards, Liberato
  8. Hi Loren, Thank you for your quick reponse very much appreciated. Do you know by chance the part number of the cable harness necessary to do this cabling from the Relay Carrier Support Frame where the double relay 99661511100 will be installed in socket S6 and S7? Best Regards, Liberato
  9. Hello All, The 996 models for USA/Europe are different from the 996 model M606 manufactured for the Canada. The main difference is the DRL day running light and In fact most of the people here are using a DRL hack by jumping fuse #6 and #9 which is not the solution I'm looking for.... The USA and Europe models do not have any cables harness pre-cabled so I was looking for a complete list of genuine parts and a schematic diagram to make this change. I found the double relay which is the P/N: 99661511100 and would appreciate if you could provide the schematic diagram and a complete list of genuine parts needed to make this change. As an FYI, I sent 2 weeks ago an email to Porsche Canada and got no response. Any help and in particular from Loren will be really appreciated. Liberato
  10. Hello, I have a 996 4S model 2004 with Bose Sound System + Dension Gateway for the iPod. Everytime I unlock the car, I randomly ear a big bump coming from the back of the car. (similar to a bum coming from the rear speakers). This happening before I put the key on the ignition and turn on the engine. One thing I noticed that the issue started after Porsche replaced the battery on my 996 4S but they are saing there is no relationship. I already spent a lot of days trying to troubleshooting the issue without success and also the Porsche garage was not able to find the root cause. In fact they told me to remove the Dension gateway but I don't think this issue come from the Dension Gateway. Yesterday I told them that I had a doubt with the amplifier that was replaced last year but they told me that I got the new version of amplifier so for them there is no relationship. Does anybody in the forum experienced the same issue. Many Thanks for your help.
  11. I confirm that is not possible to install the double relay P/N: 99661511100 on the European models. The cables harness is missing so the only workable solutions is to install an aftermarket LED kit.
  12. Hi Loren, Thank you very much for your prompt response. I will talk tomorrrow to my Porsche dealer to understand if the relay slots 6 and 7 are pre-cabled for EU and US cars. If this is the case I will order the relay and have a try. Will keep the forum aware soon. Liberatod
  13. Starting January 1st 2014, the law change in Switzerland (Europe) and lights must be turned on during the day. Anybody know if the double relay P/N: 99661511100 used for Canadian models M606 can be installed on US and EU models? Thanks in advance for your advices and/or workaround. Liberatod
  14. The law in Switzerland just changed and since January 1st 2014 the lump must be turned-on. Is it possible to install this double relay P/N: 996.615.111.00 on a Porsche 996 4S year 2004 manufactured in Europe? Any other workaround/option will be really appreciated. Many thanks for your help Liberato
  15. After the engine was replaced by Porsche on my 996 4S, I have regualr noises on the speakers (even if the PCM is turned-off) when I turn-on the engine of my 996 4S. Porsche confirmed that the "ground strip" connected between the body and the cylinder #6 was cleaned and connected properly. Anybody knows if the white cable (pictures taken on the old engine) on the pictures below connected to the "starter motor" could be the root cause of those interferences? Thanks, Liberato
  16. Hello All, My 996 4S 10/2004 had the engine replaced by Porsche in March 18th 2013 and since the first day I escalated an issue when I turn-on the engine. Basically what happen is that when I turn-on the engine, I got randomly noise (interferences) on the rear speakers and sometimes also on the front speakers. I returned to Porsche 2 times and they replaced the sound Amplifier but unfortunately without success.... because the issue reappear... Do you have any idea of what could be the root cause of this problem? I told Porsche several times that the issue happend just after the engine was replaced with a new one and I never had this problem before... Many thanks in advance for your help very much appreciated. Liberato D'Esposito
  17. Hello, Porsche replaced the engine. The black smoke in particular from the left exhaust was caused from the cilinder #6 dead. The new engine come with a new RMS version and body engine.
  18. Hello, I have a 996 4S manufactured by Porsche in October 2004 and in November 2012 I added one liter of Oil Mobil 5W50 and in February 2013 several people told me that my car had black smoke from the exhaust and smells like burnt. I purchased my car 6 years ago' 2nd hand with 48000Km and now the car has 65000 Km. On Friday I leaved the 996 at the Porsche garage and after they checked my car they also noticed that the simmering (RMS) must be replaced again (after only 15000 Km). Anybody knows if the black smoke is a symptom of defective engine that needs to be replaced? Is it normal that the simmering (RMS) which is the sickness of all 996 needs to be replaced every 10-15000 Km? I'm lucky because I extended the Porsche warranty every years but this is the last year that Porsche allow me to renew the warranty and after I will have to pay Due the above I'm very disappointed with the Porsche quality and not sure will buy a new one in the next future... Liberato
  19. Thank you for your advice. I don't have a disk image and at this stage i think I have no chance to get it working again...
  20. The problem is that you won't be able to do anything with the PIWIS. Porsche disabled yesterday the 3 main features from the top of the menu so it become unusable. Anybody know if is possible to rollback the software to a previous version?
  21. Hello All, Porsche Europe announced that they will stop supporting PIWS Tool model: PT1G starting January 16th 2012 and basically 3 main functions will be disabled (see attached picture). Anybody knows if this will happen also in North America and also if is possible to downgrade the software and avoid that it will be disabled by Porsche? I have a friend working at Porsche Switzerland and he told me that starting next week only Panasonic tools will be supported. This change will have a big impact on the support because most of the Porsche centers recognized that the Panasonic tool is useless and not working properly like the PIWS provided by Bosh System. Thanks in advance for your help. Liberato D'Esposito
  22. Thanks Loren for your reply. The Porsche garage checked everything and there was no errors. The sensors are working fine but there is no sound from the speaker apparently included into the intrument cluster. This is why I doubt that an instrument cluster need to be replaced for such kind of problem.
  23. Hello All, I have a friend that has the following issue with his Porsche Boxter 987: There is no BIP BIP when he attach the seat-belt or reverse the car. The Porsche garage didn't find any errors so everything is working fine but they suspect a failure with the instrument cluster.... Do you know if this is possible? Any other option to repair this problem withou replacing the entire instrument cluster? Thanks in advance for your help. Liberatod.
  24. I appreciate your point but here in Switzerland the laws are very strict if people change cats. In this case I prefer to change the headers and why not from Cargraphic (http://www.cargraphic.de/index.php?/s,6,7,18,1493,2125/) as shown below. Mine need to be changed anyway due to the corrosion.... Loren would you recommends to replace the headers with the Porsche genuine ones or I can use the Cargraphics headers? Thanks in advance for your help Liberatod
