  1. I just installed a new heated steering wheel on my 2013 Cayenne Diesel without a heated one.

Now I found out the hard way that there are no wires on the clockspring for the heated connector. I was wondering if anyone has changed out a clockspring on a 2011 and newer Cayenne? I am not sure if the heated wheel simply needs 12V. So if I change out the clockspring, could I simply put 12V on the connector that goes to the heated connector?

  2. I wanted to add to this great thread. I changed my air filters yesterday on my 05 CTT. It is a little different that the S since the air pipes actually go down instead of across. So there are 2 pins that need to be rotated to the 12 o'clock position to remove the air box. After 2 hours of trying to get to the clamps, I decided to search the forums since I never saw these pins before and it looked logical that the air box must come apart by those pins.

Anyway, look at the V6 instructions to learn how to remove those pins. It is the only way to change the filters on a CTT.

Additional Instructions that Pertain to the CTT

  3. I have a similar "problem". In my 2008 CS, I originally had a Mobridge Audio, and now I finally had some time to swap it out with a Mobridge BT. Now I am getting the CD Changer not available message. But everything works OK. The BT and the iPod functions all seem to work.

Looks like the CD Changer is not found, but the system did find a Phone. Everything worked without error with the Mobridge Audio. I found another thread PIWIS Link, where Berty987 says it may be easier to just leave it since it works. However that case dealt with a newer PCM and an older AMP.

Andy, if you find someone local in NY, let me know.

  4. I have a 05 ctt and am wondering how much is too much when it comes to adding oil? I have to add a quart every 700 or so miles, and im wondering if that is abnormal. The other day I was driving it a little hard and when I let off the gas I saw some white smoke in the rear view. Is that normal?? Also on the drivers side from the turbo all the way up to the the intake the inside of the boost hose is lined with oil but the passenger side is complety dry. Do the turbos need to be replaced after a period of time , the truck has 60k on the odometer.

Are you driving really hard? Even within spec, still seems to be alot of oil. My 2005 CTT burns about 1 qt for every 2K miles. My 2008 CS burns about 1.5 quarts per 2K miles.

  5. Hi,

Just picked up my wifes 'new'(10.000 miles 2008 turbo) cayenne and I noticed something strange. When using the throttle very lightly (between 800 and 1300 rpm) there comes a strange 'humming'sound from the front of the car. When the rpm go down it disappears. The dealer told me that this is normal. But my old turbo (2003) does not make this noice. Does this sound familiar? Perhaps the turbo's?

    Thanks,

    Frank

That is the sweet sound of the TURBO. As you hear that hum, you should see the boost gauge move higher. I love that humming!!

  6. Just switched the baby to a rear faceing seat and looks like the sunn is hitting her a bit more diretly. I was looking up adding a sunshade part # 955 731 317 00 and the cover 955 731 319 00 also support 955 731 324 000, the problem is MY2004 Cayenne v6 doors do not look like they have the holes.. Please let me know any additional info. thanks.

It may be expensive. The shades actually are "in" the doors, so I think you will need new door inside panels. You may just want to get the $5 suction cup baby shades and call it a day. Kids grow up quick.

  7. Hello there!

I know this topic's been discussed before and I have read some thigns about but with no success :(.

I own a Carrera 4s 09/2002 equipped with a Becker cdr-23 with no CD charger. All I need is a aux-in in order to listen some music from my mobile telephone.

I have read I could use the cd charger line to do that, is it right?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is a Becker kit for about $25 dollars that will allow for an Aux input. There are simply settings that enable the Aux input. Do a search and you will find all the info you need.

  8. hello,

i'm an american living in the czech republic.

i just picked-up a 2002 996C2 on monday 29 december and yesterday i drove it to austria (about 200 miles away) on the autobahn. the car developed a vibration at about 130mph and i continued to accelarate to 175mph when it really vibrated. so 10-15 seconds after it developed noticable vibrations, i slowed down and not long after, my rear left tyre was shattered.

the car is currently fitted with winter tyres; 205/50/17 94V(front) and 225/45/17 94V(rear). after i changed the shattered tyre using the emergency replacement, the right rear tyre is now dragging. you could smell burning rubber everytime you stop, even if you drive for 5 to 10 miles at very low speed, around 40mph.

the car is still under warranty with porsche approved and i'm bringing it back on monday. i want to know what happened to the car before i speak to the mechanic. so my questions are as follows:

    - what are possibilities for a car to develop a vibration (i could feel it on my cheek and teeth)?

    - were the tyres not properly alligned and/or balanced? or is the car fitted with the wrong tyres?

    - is it possible something broke in the rear of the car at such high speed?

    on a separate issue:

    - the car has a rattling noise when it goes over coble-stone road behind the back-seat. it sounds like a loose plastic part. what could it be?

    - i have a 993C2 and i feel the 996C2 sways more in the front. is it the characteristic of 996? both cars are in factory specs.

thank you in advance for your help

You are very lucky, that you are OK. V rated tires are only good up to 149MPH. Tires are never to be driven past their rating. I do not think that Porsche allows V rated on 911s.

  9. My situation is close but not exact. I just bought a 05 Turbo, and my wife has a 08 S. The 08 S is newer and so far is holding its cost a bit. It is fast and has a new car warranty. But the Turbo (and this is not a Turbo S, since it is a 05) is really another beast. It is truly amazing and super fast. I own a 996, and in the past I have owned a 2 Mustangs, 1 C5 Corvette, and recently a 335i, and this Turbo can hold its own with any of them.

Lastly, you should never buy a car with resale value in mind. You should love to drive the car. Porsche make alot of Cayenne S's, so the actual resale value of the S's will eventually be bad. The Turbo S's are very exclusive. Just my $0.02.

  10. I recently bought a 2005 CTT too. They are great!

Mine used the 2004 DVD too. I do believe that all of the TSBs are here in RennTech. I would recommend that you become member and you will be able to get all the info about upgrades etc.

With regard to the key, I would try to negotiate with the dealer for the second key. Some dealers (like mine) did the second key for free, but some charge hundreds of dollars to cut and reporgram. Actually, cutting the key is the easy part, but only a Porsche dealer can program the key. Good Luck!

  11. Just wanted to let all know that I got it to pass inspection. After driving it for about another 300 miles (a total of 1000 miles), the EVAP was finally complete. In that last 300 miles, I did get stuck in some bumper to bumper traffic, and the temp was in the 60s. Previously, the outside air temperature was <40. Not sure if this will help anyone else, but it worked for me.

NY allows 1 to be not complete, so it finally passed.

    Thanks all
