  5. My Steering wheel is lose, and I wanted to know how to tighten it up... I have a 2001 with the three spoke wheel
  6. I have already replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter thinking the same thing. I read somewhere that holding the throttle down resets the throttle position indicator and yes the car runs fine after it is started up but no matter how long it runs for once you shut it off it will not crank again. The car has run fine in the past but I usually run premium shell gas but recently I put regular in it, could this be the problem?? Thanks!
  7. I have a 2001 2.7 boxster with 70k miles on it and whenever I go to crank it it will turnover but not start up... However if I push the throttle down slowly and hold it down for 10 seconds then release slowly and repeat this 3 times it fires right up. What would cause this, I have had a lot of problems with the car specifically related to the throttle body and the MAF could this be the issue? Thanks!!!
  8. so far I have cleaned the MAF and cleaned the throttle body along with throttle position indicator and it seems to be doing better. I cleared the codes and they haven't come back yet.
  9. I am going to try cleaning the MAF first and checking for some leaks downstream of the MAF. Ill let you know what fixes it. Thanks for the help!
  10. I have a 2001 Boxster which has been giving me ALOT of trouble since I bought it. The car has 63000 miles and has been running bad for awhile. It began to run rough at low RPM's and I thought it was a fuel system problem so I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. Then the AOS went out and I continued to drive it until recently I replaced that and fixed the smoking issue. The car seemed to do fine so I put a fabspeed exhaust on it which replaced the secondary cats with resonators and put an new muffler on. Now I have the CEL with codes P1128 and P1130. The car runs terrible at RPM's lower than 1500. the idle if I give it a lot of gas off Idle it will backfire or misfire (im not sure which one) and has a very rough idle to the point the whole car shakes. I read that those codes say it is running too lean. I thought that maybe the MAF went bad from the river of oil in the intake manifold, or the plugs could be fouled out. I have new plugs but don't want to put them in until the mixture is right. Does anybody have an idea of what my problem could be? Thanks!!!!
  11. Hello, I am painting the brake calipers on my 01 Boxster, and I have already removed and cleaned the rear two calipers. I am going to do the fronts this weekend, but I have a couple of questions. The paint I got is just some red engine paint I picked up from Advanced Auto Parts, it is suppose to be good for 500 degrees; is this paint going to work well? Also I want to completely flush the brake fluid; right now I have the back calipers off so and I just let the brake fluid drip into two containers. If I do the same to the front is this all I need to do to drain all the old brake fluid out? After I re-install the calipers does anyone have a good how-to on bleeding the brakes? Also are there any good brand brake fluids I should look into? I read a little into bleeding the clutch; is this worth doing because is I pump my pedal several times it does seem to have a more noticeable grab and lower to the floor too? Thanks for any help!!
  12. Hey, so my AOS has gone bad and my box smokes quite alot on almost every startup, ive been meaning to replace it but didnt think it was doing any damage until I just read a thread on somebodies boxster hydrolocking. I have been driving mine for some time with the AOS bad; do you think I have done some serious damage to my car??? I am thinking about doing a compression test on it and seeing what its at....
  13. WOW lots of things I havent even thought about checking, Im going to try the MAF then move to the fuel pressure regulator. Thanks so much!!!!!! :-)
  14. Hello, my boxster has been running bad (rough idle, stumple through revs, sometimes wont start and a CEL). So ive replaced the fuel pump, then found ALOT of trash in the fuel line, so I replaced the fuel filter. This worked for half a day, then it wouldnt start again so I put a new fuel relay in from another boxster; it started with the new relay, but it is still running awful. I think it could be a bad check valve, which is letting pressure bleed out of the line. Anyone have a suggestion, I would GREATLY appreciate any comments. Thanks!
