  1. Berty - with PCM 3.0 the PCM units or Bose and non-Bose are the same - in the parts catalogue there is no difference so the activation of Bose specific features must be through coding. I will put this to the test once I can get a Mobridge M1000-DA1 to work with PCM 3.0 as I want an optical out from my PCM to feed a digital processor. I have SPP now.

  2. Hello all,I want to do a stealth SQ install in my Cayman. I already own 2 amps from my old car (RF Power 50.2 and RF Power 250.2, both in Chrome) but don't have to use them. The car currently has PCM and Sound Package plus, so 3 way fronts, a 3" centre channel in the dash and 4" midrange rears - no subwoofer.PCM has 4 speaker level outputs, so these need to go into a processor (Alpine PXA-H800, Audison BitOne or RF 360.3?) so that the output can go to amps (I'm thinking JL Audio HD900.5 and HD600.4; the former running active tweets and mids in the front plus subwoofer, the latter bridged to run midbass in the door). I really would like to keep the PCM if possible, though there may be justification to replace it if the output via a processor is going to be significantly inferior to a modern HU with digital output.Speakers - I'm considering either Morel Elate Limited Edition, Morel Elate 903, Dynaudio Esotec System 362 for 3-way fronts, and the JL Audio stealthbox in the rear.Questions:1. Which 3-ways are best in this car?2. Are JL Audio HD amps good enough to get the best from high end 3 ways?3. Should I be going passive instead, by losing the HD600.4 and simply bridging the HD900.5 to run 150W to each front side?4. Which is the best processor for SQ?5. Will an SQ'd PCM be significantly inferior to a high end Pioneer/Alpine double-DIN navigation unit?6. Is this design flawed in any way? Can it be designed better? Thanks,C.

  3. Hello all,

I'm noticing the car bouncing/wallowing a lot recently. Setting PASM firms it up a bit, but not as it once did. The car has 69000 miles on the clock now so I'm thinking perhaps it's time for the shock absorbers to be replaced.

What shock absorbers do you recommend? I'm considering either Porsche original parts or Bilstein B4 gas. I understand that the original parts are made by Bilstein so I'm at a loss to understand the difference between buying Porsche original and Bilstein B4 gas. Does anyone know if there is a difference?

Also is it worth the upgrade to Bilstein B6? Or will it make the ride excessively harsh?

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

  4. Enzo, are you able to access the menus at all? Cos you need to go into the CD List, then pick Menu, then go to Track List and pick Source - then you'll see the 4 options listed there.

If I have time I'll try to shoot some video of this and post it somewhere, failing that if anyone else can do that, please do!

I think we're agreed though that your Dension is stuck in iPod UI mode and needs to be switched into iPod GW mode.

Worth getting down to your dealer to get the firmware update on PCM, alternatively get it from the net at your own risk.

Also have you tried getting help from Eric @ Bumperplugs? He's US based and may be able to advise seeing as he shifts a lot of GW500s to Porsche owners.

  5. I just installed a dension gateway 500 unit today in my 997 with PCM (no changer)

and I all I seem to see is track 1, track 2, track 3 under the ipod settings...

I've read online that you need to get Porsche to activate the cd changer option so the Dension works correctly...

Did any of you go through this process or did you avoid it to? Seems strange I would need to do that just for ipod text.

Enzo, your CD changer is enabled already so you don't need to go to the dealership for anything.

What you do need to do is switch from the iPod UI mode into iPod GW mode. Please see MattD's post above on how to do that. Once that's done, you'll see all the info come up.

I also suggest you put the latest firmware on your gateway 500. This is available from the Dension support site - current release is 2.11 for MOST bus cars such as ours.

    Good luck!

    Chirag.

  6. I got mine in and it plays, though I am getting iPod UI on the screen and not getting any track details. I'm flashing the unit with the new firmware just now but not sure what to do next to complete setup. I got it into config mode and tried to enable paging and select but that didn't do anything useful...so once I've flashed it to 2.11 I'll go looking for more instructions. Install was fairly straightforward though I have yet to fish the cables into the passenger compartment - I don't think they'll be long enough :(

  7. Berty, can you tell me what colour the +ve and ground cables are going into the back of the CD Changer? I just bought my Dension Dual FOT unit and want to get it running ASAP! Also any ideas on how to get the aux in, USB and Ipod cables into the glovebox? I had a brief look but there was no obvious grommet asking to be punched out.

  8. Hi all,

My keyhead is falling to pieces so I bought another one on eBay.

I can move the keyblade across and even move the remote electronics across but the transponder seems to be glued in. Is there an easy way to swap this over?

Are there any other things I need to do? I don't have the barcode so can't program the new head into the car, hence the need to simply swap the plastic casing over...

    Thanks in advance,

    Chirag.
