  1. Re the alarm zone now non-problem, I replaced a CR21 with a cage (and attached alarm wire) with a CR22 (cageless) and had to tape the wire up to stop it causing the alarm chirp -- didn't see if there was a alarm point on the CR22 to attach the alarm wire to.
  2. I don't know if I'm reposting something that has been covered already, but one of the guys on the PCGB forum has found a UK source for 16-bit PCM upgrades and 2005 Opel/Vauxhall upgrade disks: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m...=3&key=𭳃
  3. Thanks, always nice to know that someone else is in the same boat. I'm thinking of taking it in to see if the pressure sender is accurate. If I find anything out I'll let you know.
  4. Hi, what type of amber/orange lights do I need for the rear clear light upgrade. Are they 21W 12V Straight pin? Thanks.
  5. Yes, both come on but neither move. Didn't know there was an LED on the tilt rotary switch. Can't look at the moment as away from home.
  6. As the title says, the headlight beam tilt is u/s. What is the best place to start...?
  7. I am getting a bit concerned about the oil pressure that is showing on my 97 996 C2. While crusing at 3000 revs in sixth I get about 4.8 bar (down over the last year or so from 5.0 historically). After a long run, and while stationary at idle revs this can drop as low as 1.0-1.1 bar. Historically my idle has been 2.0 and it is still around 1.7-1.9 at idle on a short run. Have I an engine problem, an indication problem, both or neither?
  8. I'm not sure what has happened from your post, but try disconnecting the battery, then put the keys in the ignition _before_ reconnecting it. See if that resets everything. May be your alarm unit has packed up like my 996 one did, developed a mind of its own.
  9. Think some of the '98s had relined bores that slipped. Have a look on the PCA site, think I read about it there.
  10. I'm in Gloucester now (just across the estuary from BAS) but didn't bring the Boxster this time. Wish I had, I could have gone and got the new top...
  11. On mine there was a wire attached to the mounting bracket that needs to be taped up to stop the alarm unit chirping at you when you lock the car.
  12. I too got this part when ordering bits for the OBC hack. However, I also got a packet marked 999.650.057.40 which is now a one piece part that fits into the OBC stalk wire. I'd try your dealer again... Or try an OPC.
  13. PS I've already looked at TSB 1715 (replacement of the middle section of the oil filler pipe) and I'll be mentioning this to him. Anyone have any gasket problems?
  14. I've been told by two garages that oil is leaking from my oil filler pipe (not sure where, maybe the pipe myabe the gasket). The garage I put it in to says that it is an engine out job. Can anyone confirm this or not, please? Anyone changed this themselves? How is the pipe connected to the top of the engine, is it by three bolts. Thanks in advance.
  15. I don't have PCM, but I'm wondering how do you know if you have the 16 bit version?
  16. Haven't any experience on adjusting hardtops so over to TP again. What I would suggest though is registering with www.boxa.net and put your location down, then try meeting up with some local owners at the various Porsche Club GB, TIPEC and other events. Nothing beats seeing other cars or picking other owner's brains beside their cars.
  17. I might be wrong here (only had my top on for a couple of months last year) but I thought the roof warning light only came on when you undid the centre catch on the softop. Once the softop is fully lowered the light should go out again. Are you saying the light comes back on when you attach the hardtop? Was it out after lowering the softop completely?
  18. There must be some ripper program on the internet that will let you rip the CD and burn it again as a normal one.
  19. http://www.becker.de/beckerCC21/www_root/d...lationGuide.pdf
  20. I thought the problem was just on the early batch? BTW, it looks like the GAHH top might have surfaced in the UK: http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=18551&hl=
  21. Today I finally got off my fat backside and did some jobs on the car. Put the two twist-off-back tax-disc holders in the 996 and Boxster, and finally sorted the sunvisors on the 996. I removed the LH hinge from the 996 as the hinge cover was stuck on by velcro to the rest of the hinge, leaving it proud of the roof lining and generally unsightly. It is on the right of the photo below beside a Boxster (and 996 Cab I suspect) hinge. Here are the three parts of the 996 hinge: the hinge, the mounting screw and the cover. My hinge was broken and I glued it together before reinstalling it. I would have preferred to replace it but I could not obtain the hinge as a separate part from either the PET or my OPC. I wasn't going to buy a whole new sunvisor for this little part. Has anyone any idea where Porsche have obtained this part from? I assume they have raided a major manufacturer parts bin for this -- the rest of the sunvisor has 'Made in France'. If anyone has seen a similar hinge on another car type I would be interested to know which one so I can try and obtain a replacement. PS Both my sunvisors now stay up and the lights come on and go off -- that only took two and a half years to sort then!
  22. I'd have a search on the site -- I seem to remember something about this part being replaced/sorted by someone.
  23. They call it a stabiliser rather than anit-roll bar bar then... Thanks for the info -- still appreciate a photo if anyone has one.
