  1. Loren, Thanks for checking.  I've found a couple of pics/posts of the front bumper removal and a WSM page from a 991 third radiator so I'm 99% sure I'll be able to get the new one in with the new plumbing pieces.  I will take some pics during to process to help the next brave soul.

     

    The Service Information book for the 981 specifically states that the PIWIS should be used for the bleeding process but I know several others have successfully bled the system without it.  I'll be using one of the vacuum tools which supposedly makes the job much easier.  Might you have a WSM page describing the bleeding process steps?  (WSM 190107 ?? ) I'm curious if the PIWIS is absolutely necessary and if I can achieve a successful bleed with some patience and several cycles of bringing the car up to temp to remove the small bubbles.

  2. Resurrecting an old post.  Have the same issue on an 2014 model.   I applied some tape to my headlights to "protect" them during a DE event.  Removing the tape after the event apparently lifted off sections of the UV coating so now I have multiple defects across the headlights.  Will the sanding kits remove the remaining coating so that I can apply a real clearbra or Xpel type product?  Thanks.

    Thanks man. I've already done that exact thing and using a little geometry (inverse Tan) calculated a couple of angles. For peace of mind I was hopeful someone might have the actual angle published from Porsche. I found the data for 997.1 RS but still no official numbers for 997.2 RS. I'm getting 5.6 degrees and 9.14 degrees with my crude measurements. These were calculated with 18in rims with hoosiers but they do have similar OD as OEM.

    I'm pouring a new driveway tomorrow and need to know the approach angles for the 997.2 GT3RS. I have the front axle lift so I'd really like to know both angles: with lift up and down.

    I've done a few crude measurements but wanted something more official so I can rest easy after the mud goes down.

  5. Beneath the seat belt height adjuster covers are a metal and plastic piece that I gently pried off the seat belt bolt. The plastic piece then unclips from the upper button. Once these were removed the GMG bar fell back into position! No need to remove the b-pillar cover or rear panel.

    Bar is now bolted securely in place. Working on seatbelt and harness attachments and then I'll have the seats back in.

  6. 2006 997S is getting a new GMG Roll Bar installed but I ran into trouble....As I tilt the bar back toward its final resting position it hits both of the upper seat belt adjustable mounts. I removed the covers and shifted them up and down trying to get past with no luck. bar attachment points are very snug so there's very little wiggle room below to maneuver the bar around.

    Would someone help with instructions/pics on how to remove this upper mount? Is removal of the entire rear speaker panel necessary to remove this pillar cover and belt attachment?

  7. Hopeful that someone out there has done this upgrade and can provide a few pointers before I tackle this project. I track my car occasionally and will be changing out the original brake fluid for Motul 600 soon. While there I figured I would swap out the OEM brake lines as well. I do realize after a little research that this is probably not necessary and I shouldn't expect a huge performance difference but I've already bought the parts and I enjoy doing it.

    My main concern is not getting the old brake fluid everywhere. Should I drain the system first?

    I have acquired a Motive Bleeder and catch bottle, plenty of Motul fluid, and the flare nut wrenches mentioned in other threads.

    Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

  8. Recently had a dead battery in my '06 997S. After a jumpstart and running the engine for a while the battery seems to be charged again. However I discovered my Homelink settings were erased. When I try to reset or reprogram the Homelink I get no response or flash from the Homelink LED light. I'm guessing this must be a fuse issue as I noticed the "orientation light" is also not illuminating. Can someone please inform me which fuse controls this area? All "dome" or map lights work fine. Appreciate any help.

    Just discovered both seat heaters are also non-functional now! Power seat adjustments still work.

    I have the same setup: '06 997S with short shifter. I'd like to upgrade to the same knob you show or the carbon fiber version. Are all the knobs standard size or does the short sshifter setup require a different knob? Did yours come with the leather shift boot to match the interior or did you purchase the knob separately? Any helpful hints for completeing the upgrade would be appreciated.
