  1. Hi, I have a problem with my reverse camera on my 2008 TT. I discovered that there is a broken wire which I need to replace. How could I remove the camera unit from the rear of the car. Searched the forum and there was something about removing a clip underneath the rear window? The one above the camera or the panels left and right from the camera? Just a case of pulling? Or do I need to remove screws? A picture would be great. Thanks a lot in advance. Regards, frank
  2. Hi, They broke into my wifes 2008 tt (do not ask me how, car was locked and has an upgraded alarm system installed! They get smarter day by day!)! They took out the pcm unit but also cut all the wires. Most wires can be repaired, but not the optical one (right??)! Si I guess the complete cable loom needs to be replaced. Any idea how the wiring goes. If I remember correctly the wiring goes (in my 997) to a plug near the lower centre of the dash! This would make life easier! Optical wire goes directly to the front of the car?? Regards, frank
  3. Went by the dealer today. They immediately said it was just a matter of an airco refill or a blown airco valve. He suspected the first. Asked whether this was covered under warranty, but they said it was normal 'wear'. I told him that my definition of normal wear does not cover an airco refill within 4-5 years. If so, why isn't the mentioned in the service/maintenance manual? To be continued. frank
  4. hi all, My wifes cayenne TT (2008) has developed a new sound. When I turn on the airco there is quite a loud sissin sound coming from under the dashboard. It sounds a bit like the is a tire loosin air. As sson as I turn the airco to econ then it is gone. When I turn it on again the noice is back. Noice also sound a bit metallic like. A bit like something metallic is turning against something metallic. Just wondering whether people have experienced something simular. Regards, Frank
  5. Hi Loren and Iogray, Thanks for the reply. @ Loren: I cleaned the drains after the phone unit was replaced. One was completely jammed. The dealer also cleaned it again in this service (100$'s!, wednesday). But fine. I asked them when they had 'solved' the leakage, what the cause was. They told me on thursday that the draines were jammed. I replied by saying that I was surprised that this was the cause, because the drains were cleaned the day before by them. It is clear to me that they are lying. I gave the service guy an escape by suggesting that they perhaps have forgotten it on wednesday. He said that that was probably the case. If so, it would still not have been the cause because I cleaned everything myself 6 weeks before. They are just trying things, but to be honest I am done with this. I own 10 Porsches and it is allways the same #@@!! I am more than willing to pay for service. I also own an Aston Martin and the service prices are comparable, but you never have the feeling that you get screwed at AM. I will drive by tomorrow and confront them with this and also inform them that I am willing to pay 300$'s for this. If they do not agree then I will charge them my fee for fixing their service leftovers! Problem is still that we have 5 Porsche Dealers in Holland, and it is the same nearly everywhere. I really recommand everybody to buy additional warranty if possible. This pays off and will prefent you from having these irritations. My wifes cayenne turbo is under warranty and this prefents discussions like these. Only problem with this is that I had to prove the dealer that there was something wrong with the PDCC. They kept on telling me that everything was fine. Until I asked them to replace the pump on my account, they were willing to do this. afterwards they admitted that I was right about the complaint and they paid for it. I will stop wining now. The cars are magnificant, only the service....... Regards, frank
  6. Hi All, As allways, picking up the car after service gave me this nasty feeling. As allways they charge you things that you did not ask for, they forget to do things they are supposed to. And, also as allways, they did not finish the job correctly (forgot to tighten a few things, but this is something I allready have gotten used to). During service, they called me and said that they found some moist in the car. I did have some water in the car 2 month ago, because one of the water reservoirs in the car (used for drainage, GREAT DESIGN!!) was jammed. Because I was on holiday my car was filled with nearly 2 week of continuous rain, which killed my GSM module. Replaced by the same dealer 6 weeks ago. So they know the story! I told the dealer that it was probably óld moist', but they suggested to remove the front seats and the carpet, led it dry for a couple of days and then test it. When I picked up the car they told me that there was nothing wrong. I was quite surprised to see that they charge me 1100 for this. I will drive by tomorrow to 'share' my feelings! Just wondering what the manual says about the hours that should have been charged for removal and putting back in the car of 2 chairs and the carpet. I can do this easily in 2x 1 hour. Thanks, Frank

  9. Hi, My wifes 2008 TT has just been serviced at the dealer. They lubricated everything and my guess is that they forgot to install the plastic which covers the closing thing on the glass. Not sure, but I don't believe that it was the same when I brought the car. I can now see the inside 'mechanism'on the rear of the glass. Perhaps my descripion is poor, but I mean the 'thing'on the inside of the glass in the (horizontally) middle of the window, 5 inches above the rear view camara. Or 10 inches avbove the cayenne description on the back. A picture would be great. Many regards, Frank
  10. Hi, My wifes Cayenne (2008 TT) has developed an anoying wind noice around 75 Mph and above. I told the dealer, they cleaned everything but it is still there. I am starting to doubt whether it was there in the past as well. But to be honest, it wasn't so severe in the past. The car has double glass and above 75 Mph we can't hear wat the children are saying. Anybody knows what thew cause of this is? Regrads, frank.
  11. Hi, I am still trying to narrow down which unit on my fibre loop is broken (error message on my PCM).Took out my amp (because the dealer told me this was broken. I did notice some water under my co drivers seat. This made me suspicious. I have probably parked the car with a partially opened window and because everything was fine when I parked the car (for 2 week), I decided to check the phone unit. The unit moisty so I cleaned it. When I put my amp back in the car I saw a steady red light, but when I put my phone unit back, I noticed that the light turned off ones in a while (end of the loop). I also heard the clicking sound around the PCM (relais?). Is the blinking light indicating something? The clicking sound stopped as soon as the phone unit was back in the car. The diagnose of the dealer does not make a lot of sense to me. Because everything was fine before and the fact that the phone unit was wet, makes me think that the phone unit is broken. I do not want to spend x 100's $ , then to find out that the amp was fine (they will tell you that this was broken also). Is there a way to pinpoint the error (without a PIWIS or PST)? Regards, frank
  12. did it! fairly easy: take away four bolts that hold the seat? unleash the cablr and take out the seat. Then one bolt some cables and the unit is out.
  13. Hi, My quest to the sustpect of my PCM error now leads to the phone unit under the co driver seat (911, 2s, 2005, bose, phone). Do I have to remove the seats in order to reach this module? Does somebody have the installation instructions for me? Regards, frank
  14. Hi Bob, thanks for your reply. Went by the dealer today and they diagnosed a faulty amp. Quoted me 1000$ for a 'new'one if I would return my old one. I will take the amp out myself first to see if the is something I can see. Does anybody have the removal instructions? To be honest, I would not be surprised if fixing the ampp is something that a local electronic specialist could easily do. Regards, frank
  15. Did some checkes this evening. Checked the most wire to the nav unit, CD changer, amp (thing located next to the emergency set) and also the PCM unit. All most cables are plugged in fine. Did notice a small tick sound when I touched the most cable going to the CD unit, but this is probable more a wish than reality). I did not test the connection to the phone unit, because I have no clue where this unit is. I guess it is part of the PCM unit itself. If I push main/trip than I see errors for NAV, AMP, CD and Phone. PCM and software are ok. What to do next? Do I have to replace something, can I do other checkes? I also pulled fuse D9 to see whether this helped. Unfortunately not. Could this be a software issue? I did cvhange the DVD a couple of months ago but it functioned fine. Did expecience some errors in the past year, but this was gone after turning the off and shutting the car for a couple of minutes. Errors were: no reaction to buttons and same error message as I experience now. This has happened 3 or 4 times. But this time it is more severe. Regards, frank. .
  16. Hi, Just came back from a 2 week holiday and now all of a sudden my PCM (911, 2005, 2s) pops up the error: 'error, cannot find navigation, amp, phone and CD'. I have read quite some threads allready, but I am not sure where to start. I can pull the fuse and reinstall the software or should I check the MOST connections? Where is my AMP located, also in the front or under a seat? Regards, frank
  17. Done, improvement/difference is way less then on the 911. There wasn't a lot of residu on the throttle house. Idle is noticable smoother and throttle response improved as well. 10 minutes job. Highly recommended! Thanks RFM. Frank

  19. Thanks to RFM I cleaned the throttle on my 997 this weekend: major change. Car feels like new. I would like to do the same on my wifes '08 turbo, but I got stuck (just before the finish line). I expected to find a ring, holding down the air hose to the throttle body, but there isn't. Anybody knows the trick to reach the throttle body? There are some stranges plastic bolts (2x wich an attachement knob on it). I tried turning these but that did not do anything. I guess something actually broke off underneath the bolt, but it is still stuck. Don't want to ruin anything. I prefer to leave the body on the car (if I could get it loose anyway). Is it ok to use carburator cleaner on this engine? It worked fine on my 997, but I remember reading something about CC not being suitable for DFI engines or turbo's? Just checking. regards, frank
  20. Did the job yesterday: Great result; problem gone.... nice idle AND a complete new car. The throttle response is 'scary'.... the engine sounds much better en drives like new. There wasn't that much carbon on the throttle (car was serviced a year ago (<10K km), but the changes are huge. Very easy to do and highly recommended. I will definitely do this every 6 month. Thanks a lot. Tried to do the same on my wifes cayenne turbo (2008) but got stuck. I wasn't able to get the 'áir' hose from the throttle house. There isn't a metal ring holding the air housing on the throttle house. Any advise on how this should be done? Taking off the complete housing isn't very easy because 2 screws are by far out of reach. Thanks a million, Frank

  22. hi all, My 997 2s (2005) has developed a new habit. When I start the car, with a cold engine, my stationaire idle rpm changes constantly between 900-1100 rpm's. I guess this has to do with the choke (cold engine injection), but I have no clue where to look. Problem is gone after driving the car for a bit (no choke) Any ideas? Regards, frank

  24. Hi James, Are both monitor black? Or does it continuously show the porsche logo. This dutch company made the systewm for porsche: http://www.eurologics.nl/nl/productdetail.php?item_id=22 Send them an email. Perhaps they can fix it for you! Will be much cheaper, but still not as cheap as just buying an portable dvd player and plug it into aux. I am not a technician, but if it turn and there is nothing visible (try multiple DVD's) than it could be the laser (not sure, because you have sound). Laser should be an easy fix. Replacment should not be necessary. Try your local car DVD/audio shop. Good luck, Frank
  25. Hi, A change in my life!! I am asking before I am touching, so that (hopefully) means that I do not have to replace the cover. How do I take off the side mirror cover? I have found one screw, but I do not want to put too much pressure on it. How should it be done? Regards, frank
