  1. Interesting... the reason I ask is I am looking for an ECU remap and all the companies based in the UK quote 3.4ltr cars and either 300 or 320bhp. Take a look at the attached.. http://www.e-maps.co.uk/products/Porsche/996/ http://www.vtune.me.uk/pdf/remap_porsche.pdf Something does not add up!!
  2. I finally took my car to an independant Porsche specialist. They found that a mouse had got into the car and completely chewed through the cables that connect to the oil level sender unit! Thankfully they were able to make good the connections and now I am operational again!!
  3. My 996 3.4 ltr was registered in Sept 1999 - how can I tell if its the 300bhp or 320bhp model?
  4. Thanks Loren. I used some old VW keys and they worked fine. Also code was on the bottom of the radio so I am now up and working.
  5. Hi, I have a dead battery and now need to enter the code on my CDR-21, and of course I have lost it! It looks like I can get the code of I can get the erial number buthave no clue how to remove the head unit. Do I need special tools or is there another way?
  6. 1999 C2 Coupe, 6 speed manual, RHD When I start the car and do the electronic oil level check I get the usual count down timer and then the gauge just flashes at me with no reading. After consulting the manual it seems this is because the sensor is faulty. I have checked the oil with the dipstick and its fine. Anyone experienced this before and if it is the sensor is it easy to do a DIY replacement? Thanks, Al
  7. I tried the contact cleaner and now have fully functioning lights again. Good news :D
  8. Hi, They are halogens... will try the contact cleaner today and let you know how it goes. Al
  9. OK, will give it a try although I would have thought I would have had the same symptoms on both front lights rather than just on one side. Al
  10. My 1999 Carrera has developed a very strange electrical problem with the front near side lights. Side lights, dip beam and indicators all work OK, however the main beam does not (the bulb comes on but very dim). Also when on main beam the indicator does not work (the rear and side indicators do flash but very slowly) and the dip beam light seems to pulse. Take the main beam off and the indicator starts again! I can also get the same symptoms if I put the front fogs on. The fog light does not work and neither do the indicators. Switch the fogs off and the indicator starts working again! No such problems with the off side front lights. I have changed all the bulbs and checked the connectors so am at a loss to know what to do next. Any ideas?
  11. Thanks Loren. To be clear where will I find the cable connections on the transmission (I know where the centre console is!)? Thanks, Al
  12. 1999 Carrera Coupe, manual, RHD I am having problems getting my car into reverse. It takes me two or three attempts before reverse engages and it feels very stiff. All forward gears selected perfectly well. Any ideas? Al
