  1. My first post here. I am trying to decide on a 997. Have a few questions for you guys. 1. I really enjoy great steering feel. (Don't we all. B) ) I drove a 997 C4s, the steering while very communicative, was somewhat light in effort. Have not driven the S yet. Does the steering effort vary from S to 4S or are they about the same? 2. Still undecided on S vs 4S. I know the 4S is a little heavier but it doesn't seem to affect the performance too much. I like the wider body, although there is not much difference on the 997. Not planning on driving in the snow but I do like the extra traction of AWD, especially when driving more aggressively than usual. The C4S felt very planted through the turns, does the S have the same degree of stability and the ability to get on the gas early past the apex? Wait, isn't that what Porsche's do best anyway? Will I feel much difference between the two? 3. I really like the black color the best so far. Would I be better off with the "basalt black" or regular black? Do they both have a clear coat and is one softer or more prone to scratching than the other? I've had a black MB and the black paint was a nightmare to keep scratch free. Is the Porsche paint any better or "harder" than the typical paint these days? 4. Finally, I can buy the Turbo just as easily but.... I keep thinking the S/4S is just more of a "soul" car that has character and is fun to drive while the Turbo is just wicked fast but not as involving. Even the exhaust note of the S/4S is more involving/fun to me than the suction/induction predominant noise of the Turbo. Or am I kidding myself? I also wouldn't want to invest in a Turbo only to have to trade it in when the DSG comes out because I think I would prefer DSG to a stick or Tiptronic. Isn't DSG just around the corner or is it still ways off? Thanks guys!
