1. yes i do. but b/c the rattling is similar in pitch (but considerably louder) when warming up the cats, & comes on btw 1200-2400rpms on every gear, i am inclined to believe that it is a problem with the cats.
2. my exhaust makes a pretty loud hollow rattling sound during warm up as well as btw 1200-2000rpms. i'd originally thought an exhaust mount was loose & brought it to a (non-porsche) mechanic take a look at it. was told the cats hv split / needs to be replaced (+ since cats are quite expansive, i should try to bring it back to dealer to get it replaced under warranty). my car (997c2) is just over 2 years old with 8500miles (so i'm no longer under the 2 years/24000 miles warranty period). i've read in another renntech forum thread - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires auto manufacturers to cover cats (& other related components) for a period of 8 years/80,000 miles. unfortunately, i'm not in the U.S. any idea if porsche will still cover this item? any feedback / opinions greatly appreciated...
3. You can get the suspension in kit form from Suncoast Porsche in Sarasota, FL. http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/merchant...gory_Code=997sp
It's $1749. They used my car for that photo and after driving it at Sebring two track days and two autocrosses the car sits a little bit lower. They took the photo the same day it was installed and aligned.
Porsche won't install the suspension for cars bound for North America because of the bumper ride height restrictions from what I understand. any idea if PSM needs re-programming (for non-PASM cars) as result of the suspension upgrade?
4. i've got a MY05 997 C2 (tiptronic). car came with the multifunction steering wheel which i've recently replaced with the 997 sport steering wheel. unfortunately, tiptronic buttons on the new steering wheel doesn't work (horn works fine & no airbag warning). wondering what i need to do to get it working... any advice appreciated.
5. does new RMS resolve leak problem?? part number 997 101 212 00 (which i understand is adapted fm Cayenne). anyone with this new RMS continue to experience any problems?
6. i hv a MY05 997 C2 w/tip. after longer drives (i.e. 50+km), the ignition key would be jammed (when trying to extract the key). exact symptoms are: 1) place gear selector in "P" 2) turn off ignition 3) attempt to remove key - you can't 4) alarm chimes & display shows "Move selector to P" message 5) wait anything up to five minutes, then key can be easily extracted (as if nothing happened to start with). since it only happens on longer drives + my front license plate blocks a portion of my front radiator (which houses the transmission radiator), wondering if problem is being caused by an overheated transmission? also wondering if there's a TSB on this??
7. was under the impression '-20mm sports suspension' drops both front & back 20mm? also wondering if you had the LSD installed / did Suncoast disable ABD?
8. will a straight-forward muffler + exhaust tip swap (no electric wiring nor valve tube installation) do the trick?
9. hi Loren, thks for yr feedback. i've just ordered the PSE (w/out deactivation switch) to be installed on my 997 C2 (non 'S', no sport chrono). the dealer that i've ordered it fm recommends that i only replace the stock mufflers & exhaust tips (no electric wiring nor valve tube installation to be done) in order for PSE to always be on. i'm obviously in unfamiliar territory & am thus wondering if the recommendation sounds feasible to you...
