  1. I'll watch the video later, but did you check the power steering fluid level? Do you notice anything strange with the steering or clutch action? Assuming the engine runs fine? aside from the screech and smoke from whatever oil is leaking and burning off. Is it smoking on a cold startup, or only when the car was hot? How is the oil level in the car?
  2. http://6speedonline....me-problem.html There are other posts I've read in addition to this one above. Agree BTW on KTS hardware assuming the cable and interface cards (exterior or internal) are genuine...
  3. Or at least it is certainly would be a lot easier to do and chances of success are probably better with the engine out of car... :)
  4. I'm not aware that the cylinder head gaskets can be done with engine in car... it requires a lot of complex specialized tools and engine dis-assembly.. head gasket part numbers 996-104-270-06 cyl 1-3 996-104-269-01 cyl 4-6
  5. We can't rule out the oil cooler as well which is above that area too, more towards the front of the car though... perhaps fluid from that or P/S reservoir/pump getting onto belt causing screech, or from the P/S pulley itself.
  6. Ok, yeah no problem to post a vid, upload to youtube. Then use the insert media button (right most) in the post toolbar.
  7. Come to think of it. Check your power steering fluid level. Screech could also be from a failing PS pump or belt. Might be PS fluid leak.
  8. P1411 is odd on the Secondary Air system since you have a UK car.
  9. With all the smoke and liquid I am betting the level of coolant in your expansion tank is low because of a hose leak.
  10. Come to think of it though, you're right the 2 rings is the main IMS tensioner on the right side. So that's not near the AOS or coolant tank area. Might just be a coolant leak from a hose...
  11. Too bad there's no smell o'/tasteo vision yet.
  12. It's also a plastic part that is easy to miss a hose clamp or easy to damage a hose unless you have adequate clearance (engine removed). Just throwing out ideas here based on what you've described so far. A lot of burning white smoke in the engine bay sounds like a big coolant leak to me.
  13. Vicinity of the AOS leak or crack / Coolant tank leak or crack / coolant hose crack/leak? Does it smell like coolant or feel more like oil... might be hard to tell if it is just sludge?
  14. Search for AOS (air oil separator). Check for coolant level (AOS will screech loudly if coolant is low). Check the condition of your coolant. Symptoms sound like an AOS or damaged hose/cracked coolant tank.
  15. He's probably talking about the Chinese PIWIS clone. Personally I would rather put my money towards Durametric... I"ve read threads of people frying their DME's using the Chinese clone (or watching the software crash constantly).
  16. A little condensation burn off from water build up is normal for any car on startup. Also a littlte blue smoke on startup is normal, common for flat 6 engines. Any smoke after start up and the car is warm is not normal.
  17. Alright, the plot is thickening here. I placed an order and am possibly hearing from the dealer that Germany is telling them that the old IMS tensioner P/N 996-105-180-54 might be NLA. I pointed out the TSB to them, we'll see if they have some secret stash somewhere in Stuttgart. Still trying to get clarification here though.
  18. How certain are you though that Softronic actually developed the flash client. I won't get into details... but...
  19. Interesting project!!! Reminds me of this. :)
  20. How many of you have seen healthy looking coolant turn that orange foamy brownish color? We're hoping it's the reservoir too!!!!
  21. I don't believe "they" actually sell the software, rather only resell the "rights". At least that's the way I understand how it works. Could be wrong though.
  22. Congrats on the purchase. Not enough data for emissions. You would need a PST2 or PIWIS to see the OBD2 readiness check status. A Durametric might provide more info regarding potential SMOG issues as well as other useful PPI data. As long as the car runs fine and there are no CELs I wouldn't worry about passing SMOG.
