  1. For my 2002, the light doen't go off with trunk opens. The blub gets very very hot and I got my skin burned by touched it only couple seconds.
  2. Update! The battery is fully charged and all plugs under seat were checked. I recrimped the wire I fixed last year. Then I tried to clear the code with Durametric tool and the code is cleared. I check and there is no more Airbag Fault code. Then I read the vaule of "Impedance ig circ. belt tight (rear centre)" for the Airbag and it still show "too big". I drove the car for about 20 miles and the Airbag Fault didn't come back. I read the value again today and the "Impedance ig circ. belt tight (rear centre)" still show too big. Maybe this is normal has nothing to do with the code I had yesterday. Can someone verify the "Impedance ig circ. belt tight (rear centre)" should read "correct" or "too big" from the Durametic Tool? BTW, vehicle is a 2005 Cayenne S with Durametric software 6.3.1.7. Thanks.
  3. After one year of problem free, the Airbag Fault light happens again. I plug in the Durametric tool and it has the same code as before P1217. Then when I try to read the value, it is different than last time. I got "too big" at Impedance ig circ. belt tight (rear centre). Does anyone know where should I start to look? Thanks. George
  4. I believe my CS 2005 is PCM2.1. I know the 2004 wasn't DVD and PCM shares the CD slot with audio & map cd. 2005 started to have DVD map and a separate DVD drive is under the front passenger seat.
  5. Thank you Loren, I just got it fixed. I had checked that TSB before and my VIN isn't on the list. I searched and found this the following article. I followed the direction and got the problem fixed. When I worked on the wire, the wire/connector has electric tape wrapped (very Mickey Mouse job) and had been worked on before. That could be the TSB has applied on my 05 and that's why the VIN is not listed for the TSB. I crimped the connector and read the value again with the Durametric tool and read "Correct". After that, I clear the code and everything is okay. Other said it may become loss again later and to have it solder is the best solution. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cayenne/529043-side-airbag-fault-warning.html In case other has this problem in the future, the wire & connector can be access at the back of the driver seat. No need to remove any bolt or trim. I spent over an hour at the front with no progress until found the wire at the back. Thank you again to everyone.
  6. I received the Durametric tool today. The Fault Code is: 1217: Side airbag triggering unit driver's Upper limit value exceeded. When I checked the Actual Values the "Resistance - drive's side airbage" value is "too big". See if anyone could help before contacting the dealer. Thanks.
  7. Thank you for the advices. I will try to get a Durametric and read the code.
  8. My 2005 Cayenne S just had a "Airbag Fault" light on yesterday. I don't have a Durametic so I don't know the code yet. After searching and found this problem is very common. Other owener reported that the problem was caused by a connector under the driver seat. Dealer just replaced the pin or connector. I check under the driver seat and there are few connectors. Does anyone know which connector I should try? I want to see if that is the cause before getting my Durametric or should head to the dealer. Thanks.
  9. It only works with early model before newer software update. I tried this on my 05 years ago before any update and it didn't work.
  10. I just found out my 2005 is having the same problem. The back seats, both sides, ash trays cover and the trim pieces. They feel like the top coat is melted and became soft and sticky. Was it a easy fixed DIY? How much did you paid from Sunset?
  11. The first one looks exactly like mine, for a 996 cab.
  12. I just did this too - successfully! Pushed and held the trip/odo reset, turned on the ignition, then pressed the reset button on the under-side of the wiper stalk. Then it instructed me to depress the brake lever... and no more service message! Please specify year and model of your Cayenne including any updates. Thanks. Mine 05 CS and many others have tried the method and didn't work.
  13. Mine does the same way. I perfer the traditional manual control over the rain sensor.
  14. Have anyone used this harnesses sucessfully to replace the CDR-220? If someone knows is it compatible with the Bose system for model 2002? Thanks.
  15. I purchased from this place to paint my center console: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spray_paint.asp
  16. I have removed my PCM few times and didn't require a key to reactivate. Mine is a US model 2005 PCM DVD base without touch screen.
  17. I remember the air suspension was a big demand and hard to find back in 2005 when I purchased mine. Other than the price ($3K+), I don't have any negative feelback after 5 years of ownership. I do not have any comparison but was told many times that the air suspension ride quality is a lot better than the standard suspension. The 06 was the first year you can play MP3 data files from the NAV. I don't know about theindash CD player or the bluetooth.
  18. Few years ago, I installed a new CDC-4 changer myself and it worked for about a week. Then all of the sudden, I got the same error on the PCM. I took it to a dealer and they replaced the changer and it has been working fine since then.
  19. Just found an oil spot under my 996. The RMS nightmare finally happened to mine. Is back to the dealer the only option for this repair? From many of the forum posts, there are some dealers not properly trainned to replace the RMS or did it right. There are there dealers in the San Francisco peninsula where I live. Does anyone have experience one with a RMS job done? In addition, warranty will replace a new englne if the case spec are off, but what happen if out of warranty?
  20. Weather is getting warming this week here in the SF. When I need the air conditioning and found out it doesn't blow cold air. It is a 2005 Cayenne S. Few weeks ago, I noticed buzzing noise at the airco fan under the passenger side area. I thought that was no big deal becasue I have heard that the fan was a common issue. I was thinking have to replace it in the wrost case. Today, when I lower the temperture of the climate control, the air blowing was still warm. Of course, I checked the fuse at the right side panel and it was okay. Any suggestion before heading to the dealer? Should I replace the fan anyway since it has started to make noise? Thanks.
  21. My 05 was built and delivered on Aug 2004. It has the DVD NAV.
  22. You con browse to the console display, Main Menu, Vehicle Info, Warning (1), then it should display what the warning is. My fuel was low and the (!) came up and I tried and found the low fuel was listed inside Warning.
  23. I am not sure about the 3 pieces for pre 2002. I removed and painted the trim piece of my 2002. It is for the one piece trim, simply pull off with clips in the back.
