  1. My console (gray) has multiple nicks that look terrible . Is there a repair kit to re-cover it? The black shows through the rubberized finish. thanks- Tim in Montana, '03 targa 6 speed
  2. My passenger seat cushion got wet and did NOT respond to any leather care (Lexol, Leatherique, etc) and remains hard. Recently I found a two inch tear in the leather. Any suggestions? Am I able to replace just the seat cushion leather? Nothing has softened the leather and I don't see any way to repair the tear if it stays hard. thanks Tim in Montana, '03 targa 6 speed
  3. I have had my radio have no sound but all the controls appear to work.I can change volume (number appears to go up/down) change stations (new name etc.) but no sound. Re-starting will return things to normal, although I had to do it four times , the last time it happened (yesterday). Could this be a flaky ignition switch? I know these can cause all kinds of goofy things. I Had a new switch nearly a year ago. Do these switches fail often? Tim in MT 2003 targa
  4. That's what I'm after! Where can I get them? Tim Just looked at some online-$600+ painting? Holy cow-is there anything less abusive?
  5. Does anyone make a stick-on "mask" that would cover the fog light area ? Maybe like 3M bra material in colors to make the headlight less L-shaped(more traditional). Static cling vinyl? I kinda like the look of the older (and newer!) headlights and if I could cover around the fog light area I think it would help. Tim 2004 targa (silver)
  6. I ordered Porche part # 996-631-128-00 from Sunset Porsche in Beaverton , OR. Great people to work with. $4.99 each. Tim --Too much snow for the car so I haven't tried to retofit yet. But Tim, what does it do??? Bob It holds the HID bulb so I can securely install the bulb into the headlight socket where the H7 bulb fits. My H7 bulb has a quarter twist ring that locks it in. The HID bulb has no locking mechanism, it needs a locking ring. I will need to cut out the center part of the new holder as it is too narrow to allow the bulb through it. I have a picture of it but I don't know how to post it here. Tim If this worked it is #3 on the pic
  7. What's a bulb retainer ring???? I ordered Porche part # 996-631-128-00 from Sunset Porsche in Beaverton , OR. Great people to work with. $4.99 each. Tim --Too much snow for the car so I haven't tried to retofit yet.
  8. I ordered bulb retainer rings for the H7's so I can try the xenon bulbs and still go back to H7's if I need t o. Tim
  9. My stock H7's fit into a socket that slides into the headlight assembly and turns to lock (three tabs that slide into corresponding grooves on the assembly) tightly to the assembly. The stock connector has two wires (yellow and brown) going to it.I can't figure out how to get the HID bulb to snug up. Nothing seems to fit. TIm - Unequipped for DIY mods
  10. I have an '03 996 targa and cannot for the life of me figure out how to secure the bulb into the socket. My H7 blub fits into a holder that friction and turn fits into the headlight. No spring. I have a kit from apexcone and no matter how I attempt there doesn't seem to be a way to securely seat the bulb. The kit has a plastic spacer to fit over the back of the HID bulb but it still doesn't secure into the old halogen space. Also my kit has a blue and a black wire with spade connectors. My car has a brown and yellow wires into the socket for the H7 halogen bulb. Brown and black are negative? Blue and yellow positive? Any ideas? Tim in MT 2003 996 targa
  11. Hello- I'm a newbie also- my '03 targa (one month ownership) came without a manual (I think the auction jockeys take 'em). I found one on ebay and was lucky to get one for $30 or so. It took a week to get one that wasn't $70-80. Tim in MT, '03 targa six speed
  12. Ok, it has been four days since the new ignition went in and the dash lights have worked fine (and the headlights). Not much driving as snow descended and it has gotten down to 8 degrees at night. I was worried that there was/is a bad solder joint somewhere in a control module that would worsen in the cold. So far , so good. Tim, ,03 targa six speed (still wowed that an $80k car has manual seats and no traction control)
  13. New owner here- '03 targa When I got the car the ignition switch was FUBAR and made all kinds of fun anomalies. With the new switch the car starts and runs fine. My headlights and dash instrument lights did not work until I changed the ignition switch (unless I continually fiddled w/ it). After the change I found a dead low beam bulb (non-litronic). Since installing the new headlight low beam bulb the dash lights have worked. Is there a connection between a dead bulb and no dash lights? Seems far-fetched to me. Is my light switch going? Thanks for any insight- I'm a VERY newbie in the Porsche world. Tim in Mt
