  1. Hello Everyone, I'm a longtime lurker of the forum, but a rare poster. I've got a bit of a problem. My radio code was lost and my battery died. It's an aftermarket Traffic Pro. MODEL: BE4763 SERIAL: 15000644 Here is a picture of the serial number, Porsche part number, and other relevant information on the unit. http://imgur.com/5983n Thanks for your help!
  2. 2000 Boxster S (3.2) 6 Speed 77,000 Miles Last week I noticed an issue that my 2000 Boxster S was beginning to make a squeaking noise at startup. It would squeak for a minute or two and then stop. I assumed I was looking at an issue with a waterpump or a bad pulley, and figured I would start digging into the issue this weekend. Today (first time since I first noticed the squeak) I decided to drive the Boxster about 10 miles to the office and see if I still had a squeak. I did, but this time I noticed that it was constant at idle. I turned around to limp the car home and further investigate. Symptoms are: * Aforementioned squeak at idle, which now seems intermittent again. * Oil cap is impossible to remove without tools with the car running. * For the briefest of moments I saw an oil pressure light flash at idle while troubleshooting. Everything I have read online seems to point to the AOS, but I don't have an abnormal amount of smoke at startup. Is this common? Are there any other ways to troubleshoot the AOS before throwing parts at the problem? Are there any other parts that I should order in addition to the AOS? I've read on some other posts that it's a good idea to replace the oil fill tube at the same time because it has been stressed by the vacuum created by the failed AOS? Any additional tips/tricks to performing the replacement would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Hammer
  3. Car is a 2000 986s 3.2 6 speed I went to start the box this morning, turned the key, and nothing, tried again... NOTHING. Then the alarm started going off! Placing my hand under the driver seat revealed 3" of water, and the alarm module was totally under water. I removed the seat, disconnected the module and shop vaced out the water in my car. I then took the computer inside, opened it up, dried it out, and that's pretty much where I am right now. The remotes don't work to lock or unlock the doors, or the trunk. Both front and rear trunk release in the car appear to be stuck closed. A couple of questions for those who have been here before: * When the alarm computer finished drying out, and I put it back in the car my understanding is the car may be in a 'failsafe' mode where it is dead until a Porsche dealer hooks it up to their scan tool and resets something? Can anyone tell me more about this? How much does it cost? * I suppose (looking at the pictures) there is a good chance my alarm module is toast, is there a way to diagnose this before going to the dealer? * Is it possible to purchase a used alarm module from ebay or a junkyard and have it reprogrammed, or is this something that the dealer must buy new? Thanks for the help! -Eric Pictures to follow:
