  1. Hello fellow Porsche enthusiasts,

My 2006 C2 is equipped with the Bilstein SP shocks, combined with Eibach Pro-Kit springs. I'm not too happy about it, because the nose is WAY too low, and the ride is a little too stiff for normal daily use. After some doubting of reinstalling the OEM suspension, I've noticed nothing but good stories about the Bilstein PSS9's. Supposably they last a lifetime, and they still (if adjusted as so) can be very comfortable.

Is this true? My main objective is, to have that nicely lowered look (not too extreme) but still be able to normally drive around on a less than perfect road, without having to re-allign my kidneys afterworths...

One other thing is, that after the lowering, it looks like the wheels (especially the front) are way to much inboard the fenders. First i thought it was a wrong allignment, but that seems not the case. Is this a known visual illusion, and do you guys recommend to install the optional 5mm wheel spacer option?

    Thanks!

  2. Hello,

I am trying to find a set of new gauge faces, to convert my US spec car to a Euro standard. I had contact with a company that makes the gauge faces, and they told me that i needed to send in a 1:1 scan of my originals, because if they would just send me a Euro face, the indication of the analog speedometer would be off.

Does anyone by change have a 1:1 scan of a US spec gauge face? I don't want to take it all apart, and then wait a couple of weeks till i have my new faces in... it's my daily driver.

    Thank you.

  3. Hmm...

After about 28k i replaced my stock springs for Eibach Pro-Kits springs, drove that for about 2k, and installed the Bilstein SP shocks because i didn't like the combination of the OEM shocks with Eibach springs. Now, at 33k i want to reinstall the complete OEM suspension, because the ride is WAY to hard! But after reading this, i don't know if it is smart to put the original shocks back, or purchase a new set. It would suck that after 10k i have to change it all out again...

  4. Guys, i would like to know if anyone have some experience with the Bilstein shocks on their 997. I have an '06 997C2, with an Eibach Pro-kit lowering kit installed. I heard that your stock shocks will wear out pretty fast with lowering springs, so i'm looking for some shocks, and heared that Bilstein is one of the best choices out there. They have 2 options, the HD, and the stiffer SP. Which one would fit best wit the Eibach springs?

    Thanks!

  5. Today i went to Performance Alignment in Cincinnati, OH, and i have a total different car! The owner of that place, Bill Braucksick, has tons of experiance with racecars, and did an excellent job! (for 1/4 of the costs at the Porsche dealership) What really upset me, is that the entire balance/alignment was completely off! White Allen Porsche in Dayton, Ohio is the worst dealership i have ever seen in my life! they claim that the alignment was right, so don't want to reinburs me for their 'alignment', which i believe they never did! Does anyone have experience with fighting for reinbursment from a dealership? (I'm from Europe, and never had to deal with something like this here...)

    Thanks guys!

  6. Ha Piet-Hein,

At the Porsche dealer they can plug your car into the computer and just and just change the settings from the side markers. Very easy. I don't know if they can also change the daytime running lights in the computer settings...?

When i talked to a dutch Porsche Dealer in Rotterdam recently, they told me that they install a Clifford klasse 5 alarm in each new 911 that they sold.

I'm glad there are more people importing 911's! We can learn from eachother's experiences!

    Groetjes!

    Ed.

  7. I recently had my '06 997C2 lowered with the Eibach Pro-Kit (-1.2 inch), and immediately installed 4 new tires (Conti sport 2) at my local Porsche dealership. The car looks great, but the handling is very bad! I have a constant vibration in the car, and the steering is suddenly extremely light! I went back twice, and they claimed that they re-balanced the wheels, and checked the allignment, but no improvement at all. Does anyone has any experience with this problem? Thanks!

  8. I Currently live in Ohio, and will move to Holland next summer. I have a '06 997C2 which i will import as well. I informed about the alarm, and the insurance companies require a class 5 alarm (GPS tracking). What i did is changed the side indicator lenses for clear ones, and changed the setting in the computer so they will blink now with direction. Can the daylight running light setting be changed in the car's computer as well? i was also wondering if the units that they placed next to the rear license plate can be removed, so a standard NL plate will fit? (p.s. What is the PWIS unit?) Thanks!
