  1. HI,

    As per subject heading I'm getting a Headlight adjust Fault message up in my tach., The lights dont move up or down on start up and are pointing at tree line whilst driving. Dont know if its related but only happended since Ive had the front bumper replaced with a Turbo one. The car is a 2006 C4S.

    Since you said the problem started after front bumper replacement, why not try to reinsert both headlight assembly? It may just be a bad contact, hopefully.

  2. Intermittents are hard to trace simply by their nature. It would not surprise me that you don't see any codes on PIWIS - you would likely have to do some drive link tests and visually verify what does and does not happen.

    If you can't find any bad connections then try re-programming the rear light controller.

    Question: the "rise" brake light is the one on the spoiler? This brake light only active (on) when the spoiler is up, and when the spoiler is up, the "fixed" 3rd brake light is not active (off), correct? Thanks.

  3. For the sake of discussion...

    2) People keep saying that the S headers are restrictive because the three tubes go through the same restrictive point. This would be a problem if all three cylinders were evacuating gases AT THE SAME TIME, but imagine the flow through this header with each cylinder exhausting gases in SEQUENCE. Under those conditions you might actually set up a continuous high velocity flow (taking advantage of the restriction to impart a venturi effect) that would help to suck the gases from each cylinder.

    I guess this is true if the engine RPM is low (low exhaust gas flow). Depending on how fast the exhaust gas excavated from that junction, in higher RPM, this "venturi" effect may create a problem (bottle neck).

    I would guess the X51 header is designed to improve the top end performance. The low end performance may be compromised.

  4. Individual memory may not be there depending on what options your car is equipped with. Its definitely possible to activate DRLs through the PCM on cars that are optioned correctly. I believe you need i 640 sport chrono package plus, just having sport chrono is not enough. If you do not see individual memory in your pcm when you hit the set button from the main screen you will need to have the dealer activate the DRL's with the tester.

    Yes.... I have an '08 C2 with the sport chrono package plus and was able to activate DRL's through the PCM. Also, I was able to activate the automatic door locking system. Great that Porsche put this in our hands.

    I have a 2007 C4S with sport chrono and NAV and I can set the DRLs in the PCM screen. One note! The car has to be "On" (but not necessarily running). I tried to do it with the key in the ignition, and couldn't do it. Tried again in "on" position and could get to the screen.

    I think you get to it by going to "MAIN" and then hitting "SET" and dialing to the "Indiv Mem" option from there.

    If you have the menu but is not selectable (grayed out), what Harvey mentioned above is correct. You need to have the ignition in ON position in order for the menu to be selectable.

    If the menu missing completely (for car with sport chrono), the dealer should be able to configure it.

  5. I am no heel toe expert but I use the ball of my foot for the brake and blip the throttle with the pinky toe. No heel involved.

    I think most Porsche drivers find it easier to roll their right foot, with the left side on the brake, and right side on the accelerator.

    I'm getting used to the ball-pinky-toe technique, and I can rest my heel on the floor during the process (the advantage of big feet!). Like 70Sixter, control of the throttle input is still a bit ragged, but I'm getting better at it. And it's lotsa fun too!

    Easier to do it when in sport mode.

  6. are you just trying to permanently enable the PSE in sport mode ?

    If so, you can just unplug it in the engine bay

    I am putting a manual switch to able/disable the PSE from center console. Actually, I got it done yesterday and it is nice to be able to control the PSE at will. It just a bit more work initially. Specially, finding the correct wire in a bundle of wires that are going into ECU. I used the lighted switch when active and intersting to see how when the Sport button is on (PSE activated), the light went on randomly between 2000-4000rpm. Both on the rev up and down. Sometime, it came on (blinking fast) when the rev down only....very interesting. Of course, when I switched it off, the PSE always on, regardless of the Sport button setting.

  7. Should be roughly the same as a 996 - remove the two speaker grills and then remove the 2 screws behind them.

    Thanks. I got it. Remove the sub port face plate on both side and the T30 screw can be seen. So I guess this is the same setup as in 996, as you said.

    Now, I need to find the wire that going into my PSE solenoid to gain control of the PSE manually.

  8. I've never had to remove one from a 997 but I believe its the same as the 996. You can pry off the little covers for the openings of the sound ports and underneath that there is a T30 screw. Pull the box forward and unplug.

    Are you referring to the sound port on top of the sub (they are two cutting above the sub behind each rear seat that is not quite completely removable) or, the sound ports that have "Bose" written on them, left and right side?
