  1. Thanks for he info! Now I just need the snow off the roads so I can get through the break in period :)
  2. Thanks Loren, is it safe to assume it has the updated bearing with the larger nut?
  3. Hi- Just had my engine replaced after IMS failure.... New serial number is M96/03 AT66569342
  4. I have 997 5 spoke wheels on my car. I used 7mm spacers and longer studson the front. I think they are H&R spacers from tirerack.com
  5. can you determine if a replacement engine has the new bearing from the Serial number?
  6. just picked my car up Friday with new engine after IMS failure. Service advisor said there 2 cars that also had IMS failure just after mine came in... one was a 2002 like mine, I believe the other was a boxster... total for mine was $24k, I had a $100 deductible :)
  7. IMS failure happened to me about 3 weeks ago... 2002 C2, purchased in 08 with 15K miles, just failed without warning at 34k. Luckily I have coverage which is going to cover the engine replacement.. While the sky may not be falling this is a major design flaw.... it is frustrating that there is not a warning it is going to occur and when it does occur you do not need a repair, you need an engine! now my dilemma is that I will have the 05 plus with the newer IMS bearing which can not be replaced without a tear down. I will have a 2 year warranty on the engine but after that I am on my own. I was planning on keeping this car long term but I am now concerned.
  8. BINGO, if I press the brakes just a little the break lights come on, if I press downfurther as to stop, the lights go off I moved the switch in and out a couple times, seems it was stuck and could not come oput all the way, it is fine now amazing the two things were unrelated Thank you!
  9. Same without the spacers, as soon as I hit the brakes, I get the errors.
  10. Tire size is 225 40/18 wheel witdth is 8 x 18 offset is 57mm w 7mm H&R spacers. The problem occured after putting the spacers on with the original wheels Thanks
  11. Hi, I just put a set of Carrera III wheels on my 2002 Cab. with the Same tires. I put 7mm spacers on the front yesterday with my original wheels and noticed I got a ABS and PSM failure when driving today. I put the new wheels on and got the same error today. Any ideas? Thanks Mike
  12. No - you have it backwards. The 57mm offset will stick out further than the 65mm. Go to the website below and run your own calculations: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp You may need spacers in the front. I looked at the site I think I may have stated it poorly, my current front is 52mm the 997 is 57mm my rears are 65mm and the 997 is 58mm
  13. HI, I have 18 " wheels on my C2, I am looking at 18 wheels from a 997 ( OEM) I noticed the offset is a bit different. The fronts are 52mm and 65mm on the rear for my car. The 997s are 57mm for the front and 58mm for the back. I think this means I would need 7 -8 mm spacers for the back. Is this correct? the fronts will be away from the hub by 5 mm , correct? is this ok? Thanks Mike
  14. Hi Derek, I purchased my car not too far from where your car is and used Roslyn Porsche for a PPI. I am about 2 hours from there, the dealer flatbeded the car over. The did not do a detailed report, but went over the car. It was $300. I spoke with Luciano. Mike Porsche of Roslyn 22 Mineola Ave. Roslyn Heights, NY 11577 Phone: 516-625-5544
  15. I picked one up on ebay for 150 plus 25 for shipping. used, in very good condition
  16. You really need to read the policy carefully. There are two main types exclusionary and inclusive. Meaning everything is covered except what is listed on the exclusionary. Inclusive only covers what is covered, lubricated parts, etc you can check the BBB online to look at the how the company satisfies complaints
  17. Would the switched power from the phone have enough power to have an Ipod charger and an auxiliary outlet plugged in, not for anythiong major, but for a garmin nuvi or phone charger? Thanks Mike
  18. Hi Did you use the the brown wire from the phone cable for the ground? or attach the cround from the a PIE BLAU/8-3NPUT adapter to something else? Thanks Mike
  19. Hi Kevin, Mine did not come with a warranty, I purchased a warranty from insurancepoliciesonline.com Mike http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=17762
  20. HI, I just bought my car last week. I looked at about 5 cars that were in bad shape but advertised as "showroom condition" I finally found my car, 2002 C2 cab, colors I wanted ( gray int) dark gray. with a lot of options. 18 inch wheels, aero kit ,heated seats, hard top, xenons. The car has been kept inside and only has 15k. I paid 42,500. I do need to get the 15k service done and probably get tire in the spring. good luck Mike
