  1. Ugh, My daughter was just about to pull trigger on the Dynavin n6-pc Guess she should wait a little
  2. Trans should be fine. An orig. 99 3.4 with 70k is a possible timebomb. Therefore it will not fetch too much $$ as is. What are your power goals? The car you have is non egas and the older DME. Swapping to a 3.6 or 3.8 is going to require a lot of mods. If you feel your current engine is solid, then a supercharger is probably your best bet. Goodluck.
  3. Thanks, I have been looking for leaks. There is no staining on bottom of engine / transmission cases. Since getting the car in Feb I have put about 8500 miles on her with a lot of spirited backroad driving. This is equal to the same mileage the PO did over 3 yrs. I have noticed she burns about a qt in 2000 miles. The weird pressure behavior has mellowed out even when the oil level drops. It almost seems like new viscosity had more to do with it.
  4. Hi all, I am looking for some one that has their own picture of a bad RMS or IMS still in the block. I am helping a buddy build a website and need a picture (and your approval to use) for it. As always thanks for the help!
  5. Ok....never noticed such huge swings before. Makes me worried about drivng her hard in corners
  6. So after my first DIY oil change I am still getting weird oil readings. Car is 1999 C2 Coupe 6-speed with about 9k on engine Today I did some more testing.... 1. Startup - no oil pressure for 1 second then up to 5 if cold 2. hot idle. 1.65 when warmed up at idle 3. level 4 at 3k rpm when hot 4. Hard accel. 1st gear fine.....2nd gear when comming throuhg 4500rpm it starts to dip. dips down to 2.75-3.25 before holding around 4 5. Sweepers: on both left and right sweepers 3rd gear 3k rpm......dips to 2.5 and bounces (very erratic needle) I have read about oil starvation in other threads but I have not found any info like mine above. Is this normal? TIA Ben
  7. I second the pedal possibility. With the new pedals you probably did the type of heel/toe I do but by mistake. My alum pedals are such that I can have 90% of foot braking and engage 10% on the gas took blip throttle. My wife did this once in her car where she hit the brake and caught the gas and floored it plowing dirt with the front wheels. Check codes... but I bet if you watch your feet....it won't happen again
  8. Looking for a p-car modified Eastwood roller to roll my rear fenders. Worth some beer to you if you have a tool. Thanks!
  9. Thanks, I just added shy of another .5 qts and that seems to have brought it up to full. Now I hope it stops the preasure from dropping during hard cornering and hard acceleration! Depending on the position of the car when you drain the oil, the amount that drain's out can be as high as 10 quarts. I usually have to refill with 10 full quarts in my 99.
  10. Ok, so I read the thread here on jacking her up and changing oil. Got the new filter, oil ring and crush washer. No problems with getting the car in air, draining and doing change. I put 8.5 US qts. of Mobil 1 0w-40 in then checked. Still showed low so went and put the rest of the .5 in for a total 9 qts. I went for a drive letting her warm up and everything seemed good. After letting car sit for 1hr I used the OBC to check oil level. It showed oil to be 4 marks below full (so 3 marks showing blank). Is it normal for it to take close to 10qts.? I ran her to work today and noticed oil drop on hard corners while keeping constant throttle. Is that normal for low oil level? What is the most you have seen put in after a oil change?
  11. How many miles? Most likely control arm bushings if over 75k miles.
  12. From my readings it seems a common cold start noise. Nothing to worry about if it goes away after a minute.
  13. Being able to tune the DME with software like Softronic. Which has shown some decent gains. Probably wouldn't be worth it other then I won a chance to flash my DME, but doesn't work on 5.2 DMEs. So if I switched to 7.2 I could use it. Just not sure if I would have to switch to EGAS. Or is the rest of harness is wrong.
  14. Is it possible to take a 99' C2 DME 5.2.2 and replace it with a DME 7.2? Keeping all other systems the same (cluster, non-EGAS, etc.) Reason is to possible change mapping on the 7.2 via Softronic flash. Softronic only starts programing at 7.2 Thanks,
  15. thanks Loren. The wheel offsets were supposdly mearsured correctly. Also I noticed the wells were rolled. I think I'll try the 295s
  16. A buddy hit a curb with my 99' C2. The car came with 19x11" rims on back. Mounted are 275/30/19 Michelin PS2s. The 275s definatly DO NOT go out to edge of rim. Should I move up to 295s? If so will the current 235/35/19 fronts be ok? Or will those need to be brought up to 245/35/19? Thanks
  17. I searched but couldn't find any info on this. Can I use stock 2003 GT2 Coilovers on my 99' C2? If so what do you think I would get out of it? I suspect: 1. much lower 2. stiffer To get full benefit I would need to change sways I guess. Would it be mandatory to get them on though? Or can this be done after? Thanks, Ben
  18. Ross1, I hope they paid for that mistake..........
  19. Congrats on the pcar. You might want to look into upgrading to some nice aftermarket pipes. If you haven't joined www.6speedonline.com I would suggest checking there also. renntech has been the most help for tech issues for me. 6speed has been great for used parts, opinions on aftermarket parts and other mods. Personally I wouldn't want to have different pipes on each side. I don't think that it would sound that great.
  20. Sounds pretty good. What made you "know it was going to be a project"? It is great to be able to work on these cars. I have been loving mine for the last 2 months. Only put about 1k on her due to weather.
  21. I am not sure about the wheel wells other then I have never heard them being on the list of replacement parts for the face lift. BTW: What bumper was on the pre-face lift? Any good front shots of it? Are you looking to get rid of it? I have been thinking of changing my 99' non aero bumper out.
