  1. I'm following the same route as the original poster. Sold my 996 at 80k miles after reading too many posts about IMS failures and plan to purchase a 997. From above, it appears that the '05 997 may have the same IMS configuration as the 996. Is this correct?
  2. 2002 C2 6 speed In my case, the fault code indicated a steering angle calibration error. I suspected low voltage and the problem went away when I replaced the battery. Hasn't re-occurred in the past year.
  3. 2002 C2, 82k miles, Guard's Red Over the years, I've managed to lose or mangle a number of the plastic trim and liner fasteners that are scattered around the luggage compartment. Does anyone have a source for these types of fasteners other than my local dealer? I would also benefit from some instructions on their proper removal. Congratulations Loren on the new layout for the website.
  4. I experienced this last year with my '02 C2 Coupe. It turned out to be the alternator bearing. The noise was most noticeable at low RPMs sitting at stop lights. It wasn't a problem at speed during highway driving.
  5. Hey perryinva... your pretty hard on people. Where did you learn to spell??? P-O-R-S-C-H-E not Porshe!!! What, are you an idiot??? Please re-read the Board Rules/Guidelines that you agreed to when you registered here. "Name calling or harassment of any kind directed towards another member or members will not be tolerated." Back on topic folks. Your right... I apologize. I think the strong comments by perryinva were on target. He's the only person who offered this guy advice that may keep him from killing himself at high speed.
  6. Paul, as you suggested, I went with manuals on CD provided by member porshelibrarian. They come at a great price and are just the level of detail that I was looking for. send a PM to member "porschelibrarian" - he can probably help you. Regards, paul...
  7. Like most of the readers on the DIY forum, I'd like to understand the mechanical issues on my 2002 C2 so I can fix them myself or at least make them worse before sacrificing the car to a dealer or independent. Is there a service manual that includes the 2002 that you would recommend? Sources would be useful. My initial internet search shows some manuals but I don't know who is the most informative and they don't include recent years.
  8. Many thanks for the rapid response Loren, PM sent Mark I'm generating PSM/ABS errors on about half of my cold starts. Restarting appears to correct the problem. I've checked the readout with durametric software and it's reading fault code 4440, steering angle sensor. One solution is to take it the dealer for re-alignment and sensor calibration. Any other suggestions? 2002 911/996 C4
