  1. You can do it without front bumper removal, just remove the plastic inner wheel well, but not that easy to work on. I'm sure for DIY, remove the bumper and clean at the same time all radiators from dirt.

I actually had the bumper off and did all the cleaning work just recently. Would rather not do it again if possible... we'll see how it goes as will be doing some suspension work soon and if its still there I'll removed the liner and replace it that way.

  2. Hi all,

I've started to hear a high pitch squeal much like a motor or bearing sound. Its coming from the front Driver's side radiator area and this past weekend I cleaned out all the rads, etc and removed the ducts, condenser, etc so it would be totally cleaned out. I was in there doing other work anyways and once seeing how bad they were I decided to clean them all out thinking it may be debris in the rad fan.

Anyways, its still there, more so when the AC is on as I believe the run at full speed. It comes and goes, so its not making noise full time.

I was thinking of spraying some WD40 into the rad while the car was running (and cold of course) in the hopes that it may lubricate the fan behind, but not sure if that is an intelligent idea.

Any other thoughts from the community? If it is a fan replacement issue, can it be done via the bottom of the car and if so how?

    Cheers

  3. Aaron,

I have the big reds, but didn't DIY. Basically you need the calipers and the rotors, clips, wear sensors, etc. It does require a mod of the caliper and you need to make sure that the setup will fit behind your wheels. I decided to pay someone to do the work. It was a relatively small amount of money compared to the cost of the parts.

    Good luck!

So you didn't have to change the front suspension mounts for the calipers/rotors to work? I wouldn't mind hearing more about the modifications that were done to make them fit if you can find out and if you went with the Turbo rotors as well.

  4. Hi all,

Looking for a little help here.

I installed my GT2 / Tequipment roll bar today and it went smooth. Removed both front seats, removed the rear seats and panels, trimed the plastic piece as need, got the bar installed and put the seats back in.

Since, two issues have come up...

First, the Air Bag light came on straight away. I hooked up my Durametric and it said it was due to not reading the seat belts so I cleared the codes and it has not returned. I suspect it is due to the fact that the seats were removed/disconnected that caused this to come up.

Second, the Volt Gauge is dead flat. Again I hooked up Durametric and the car is charging just fine when reading it direct. I began to suspect that perhaps a wire may have been pinched/cut, but I made sure that none of the wiring was cut during the installation and there is no wiring that runs where the bar is bolted so I'm doubting this idea. It is also not an easy thing to check as I'd have to remove everything to do so and I'm not about to do that on a whim of "well what the heck lets look".

Any ideas of where I should start looking to determine why the Volt Gauge is not reading anymore?

PS All other instruments are working perfectly and its a 2001 996 C2

    Cheers

    Pinched harness, fixed now.
