  1. Hello All/Loren, What is the recommended amount in lb/ft? I found the standard to be 96 (seems a bit high to me). Many thanks!
  2. I agree with Craig on the Europipe, it's one of the best systems available. If price isn't a concern, I would also look into the manthey & cargraphic units. I have a set of the fabspeed max flow mufflers on mine (installed by the previous owner) and they're fine, if you're looking for some added sound on a budget. That said; when I'm ready to upgrade, I will most likely go with this BBI custom built system http://www.6speedonl...st-project.html
  3. Optima Red 75/25 or 75/35, no tray mods needed and it weighs less than the stock unit. Costco and Pep Boys stock them, you will need to contact Optima directly and request that they send you the "black" Euro adapters (they snap onto the bottom corners for a tighter fit).
  4. Hi Loren, I removed my alternator today and I was surprised to find that it was 150 Amp instead of a 120 and it also had a fixed pulley (like for a Tip) instead of the clutch type with bearings. Can you tell me if the PN's (997.603.012.04 & 997.603.012.DX) that you provided also apply to a standard 996 C2 with manual trans as well as 997 GT3? I ask because I'm having my unit rebuilt and the electric shop can change-out my pulley if I choose.
  5. I'm in the process of having my OEM 150 Amp Bosch alternator rebuilt. My car has a manual trans but the alternator has a fixed type pulley (like for a Tip), should I have the electric shop change-out my pulley for a clutch type with bearings? I've read that it is more efficient and will extend the life of the unit.
  6. I figured that much. I'm beginning to lose my nerve because once you upgrade one part, then you have to upgrade/modify the rest of the associated components.
  7. It's me again, Regarding remanufactured units - I've noticed that there are both 120 and 150 amps available? Which would do you recommend?
  8. Loren, Thank you for the information. Do all manual trans 996/997's share the same part number? I ask because I will mostly likely purchase it directly from Bosch. Thanks Phillip, I definitely can't afford the OEM part at this time. I found a local shop that sells remanufactured Bosch units for $250, I just hope that Lucent can install it for a reasonable price.
  9. Hi Loren, I think my alternator may be bad, can you provide me with the part number. Also, do all manual trans 996's use the same part? If so, I think that I may need Bosch AL0812X. Thank you so much! Jeff
  10. The dealer has installed two of the the "updated" 997 seals and both have leaked within 4-6 weeks of installation. I just re-opened my case today with Porsche, I have requested that they cover the labor to reinstall the original seal (996.102.264.92). I prefer the old version because although it showed signs of seepage at the seal, it never actually dripped oil on the ground. I have read that some have had success using the 996 TT seal (999.113.426 41). It appears that this issue has become commonplace with 7 GT3's, more so than with 6 GT3's. I believe this is mainly because the 6GT3 used a different seal. I understand how the seal relies on crankcase pressure or vacuum to function properly, however I don't understand how Porsche feels that it is acceptable for these vehicles to leak oil when not in use? I am concerned because I have noticed a light oil spray on the engine lid (my car is black) and I have figured out that it is the oil from underneath the car that is being circulated along with air and guess where it ends up?
  11. No spacers yet, that is actually why I was asking. I would like to add 7mm to push-out the wheels a bit more. I don't track the car, so I think I'm okay?
  12. Hi Loren, Can you confirm whether the standard lugs are 45 or 50mm in length? I noticed that the top/face has "GT" imprinted on it. Thank you, Jeff
  13. Hi Alex, Try contacting: JeffClark@sunsetimports.com
  14. Hi Alex, They are attached by adhesive only and I've heard that they are difficult to remove. I suggest a hair dryer and a plastic putty knife. Keep us posted, Jeff

    Auto Door Locking

I finally got the car back to the dealer (this time I took it to Rusnak/Westlake) to have the updated RMS installed and while I was there, they programmed version 2! Thank you Loren.
  16. Thank you Loren, would you happen to know the RS pulley bolt TQ spec.
  17. Hi Loren, I received the leather sills...gorgeous! Thanks for your help!
  18. Hi Loren, I'm in the process of adding a RS pulley because the previous owner did not do so when installing the RS clutch & flywheel. I just wanted to know if you can confirm that the pulley bolt PN is: 993-102-550-80. Also, I was told that the RS pulley has a different TQ spec than the standard GT3 part? Thank you!

    Auto Door Locking

Thank you Loren! I will have them give it another try.

    Auto Door Locking

Hi Loren, I'm in Los Angeles and the dealer was L.A. Auto Gallery in Woodland Hills. I saw them hook-up the PST, but I think that they were programming the other auto lock function (when the key is removed from the ignition and the doors are closed)?

    Auto Door Locking

I just left the dealer and they were unsuccessful at programming this feature. I wanted the the doors to lock at drive-off, is this not an option on the 6GT3? Thank you.
  22. '05 GT3/Black Int./US May I have the standard part number for this item including any clips/fasteners associated with mounting. If possible, can you also provide the part number for this piece covered in black leather with red deviated stitching. Thank you so much!
