  1. I am thinking of Trann oil change. From this post and another one I figured that tiptronic and automatic transmission oil changes are not DIY. Does this apply to Manual Boxsters too?
  2. I had signed up for his events..never got a response. Either way I may join anyone going to this on the 16th.
  3. Another hint... He bought the car in the country were we both were born...My name is Alberto. The Owner is my friend... yet my last name is Scherb.
  4. So I guess after a TrafficPro installation this car is a mile away from One Million? without counting this Million mile car... No. 1 MrMickeymouse with 137k No. 2 Scherb with 86k No. 3 ..........
  5. TP thanks for the picture. But do I just wank the vinyl cover by pulling it? or is there a trick to removing it in order to place the part as shown above? I have the center hold from Patrick (Thanks Pat). I have a drill (to remove the old rivets) and a ribbet gun (to place the new). But How do I remove this vinyl/cover part?
  6. Be carefull when ordering the 986-561-738-01-01c and 737-01-01c both were marked L for LEFT side. I had to go back and show them and they brought out another bag same deal..two lefts. Maybe just a inventorymis labeling issue.
  7. What is the procedure to remove the cover that goes on top of the center hold for the windstop? Refered also as a Center Vinyl 986-580-521-00-A-10
  8. For parts (accesories) suncoast porsche www.e-partssales.com Sunset porsche Phone: 610-886-1000 or the forum for part sales in Renntech (found at the bottom of the main page).
  9. TP I got the records from Stevens Creek. Airbag light came on at 47k (Code 48), Porsche replaced both seat belt buckles and midified wiring harness. (Under warranty). Then at 69k airbag light came up again and the tech replaced airbag control unit also under warranty. I will wait to see what the PST2 brings up next Saturday at Santa Cruz. Seems odd that the control unit would fail in less then 20k agree?
  10. I just got my 97 with some miles on it (80k). The car drives great. In fact a friend of mine with a 2003 liked the sound and the drive better then his. I totally recommend it. Do not think you will buy the car and spend no money. I look at this as my hobbie now. I thought about buying the car the night I drove it... did not need more tips, suggestions, all you have to do is drive it once...
  11. What is the VW/AUDI PN? I called Stevens Creek asking for the 4A0 905 849 B, and they mentioned the $122 cost for the whole widget. I asked the guy to look at Audi parts but he mentioned only the $122 deal. I have a link on ebay for a AUDI PN 80 90 100 A4. His specs say it can be used on Boxster? Thanks
  12. I am looking at a new set of tires and I would like to get some feedback on what is out there. I am looking at 3 brands (2 per Custom Alignments suggestions). Bridgestone, Continental and my Pirelli. Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position Potenza S-02 A continental ContiSportContact 2 Pirelli PZero Rosso Asimmetrico Thanks
  13. I would like to perform a 90K maintanance on my 2.5L. I still have some miles to go but want to prepare in advanced. I intend to change: - Oil - oil filter - Fuel filter - Air filter - Spark plugs - Spark plug cables? Can anyone provide the PN's,brands, or a link to someone's site that has done this? Thanks
  14. I have tried all sorts of things (cables, wires, etc). And no luck. There is the double chop (97's) needed and difficult to bypass. I have decided to buy an axe like the one TP shows...
  15. Interesting. I have not heard that noise again. Now I do hear the breaks squeeqing. I will know more this saturday. THANKS!
  16. Doors do stay locked if I use the dash button. If I use the key to lock the doors it also rejects the locking request. I am aware of the switch recall. I just dont know if my car was in it. Where can I look that up? I have had the car for 3 months only.
  17. Good day. Recently I have been receiving some signals from my car. I get out of my car and use the control to lock it, it unlocks immediatly and honks 2 times. What am I not doing that it want to stay unlocked? I do have ignition switch problems.I am aware of the low slight honk it does when I leave the storage compartment is not closed completly. yet the car does lock in that scenario. 986 97' :( please help.
  18. Thanks for the comments. My move would be for Cosmetic. Will be there on Saturday 25th. Thanks.
  19. I like the stock wheels on my 97' 986 and wont change them anytime soon. I have seen some box's on the street with wider wheels maybe with spacers... so I am thinking about 5mm spacers. I would like to get your comments on both Con's and Pro's. Main concerns: 1. are these 5mm spacers going to affect the travel of the suspension and potentially ruin the body/ body 2. What is the effect of opening the gap betheen the wheels? (i.e. grad racers have a small differential and I have heard this gets fast response from the wheels,,, then again just conversation..) Please comment on all other concers I may be up against here...
  20. Suncoast Porsche has it for $115 +T&S. I returned mine without being creative and testing what I am now trying to do... still have not had any response on a open remote picture from a CGT owner -_-
  21. Loren, Thanks. I actually had not seen the parts nor taken the time to think before I posted the topic. This was unbelievible easy to do... maybe 3 minutes tops... also did the backlights... I went clear... total change over was 45 minutes including some phone calls, pictures and more pictures. Thanks for the link!
  22. Hello. Is there any DIY on changing the side markers? Thanks.
  23. Hello, I am wanting to use another color key head for my silver artic boxster. I bought a key from Suncoast porsche and returned it as the Dealer (steves) said they could not program it. As part of my research I think I can change the capsule on the Carrera GT for my "programmed" and be able to use the enclosure (plastics) of the silver color head. I starting thinking of this after I returned it...java script:emoticon('') I have a picture of what my remote look like and I need help from Carrera GT owners to see if they can open their key and shoot some pictures, interested in seeing if the internal design is the same as this old key. Hope you can help. Click here to see the pictures of the control...
  24. I meant Carrera GT head for 996 ($115). will check my PCBA's solder points. This control stop working yet the leds kept flashing. I can offer Mark the switch if he needs it but I found it to be faulty.
