  1. it seems that the asking price is too high for both, what would be a fair price for either given the millage and options ( I know what bluebook is but it seems that used Porsches are always way over or way under). Thanks again for the comments!
  2. thanks for all the input so far. How do you get a readout for overrevs and what does that mean? does the ecu log time over a certian RPM or something? as in the second posting? Also will the 18" wheels fit on a S? The reason being that I can get IceX snow tires in 18" but not 19" and would like a set of standard 18" carrera wheels with snow tires for winter if possible. I know the rotor diam. is slightly larger, do the calipers require more wheel offset as well? the price on both did seem a little high. do any of you think it's worth buying a certified one from Porsche and spending the extra money I will end up paying instead? It seems that the 997's have been very reliable so far so I don't know if that is worth the peace of mind. If this were any other car I would buy certified for sure. again, thanks, as soon as I get a car I will be on here all the time with questions i'm sure!
  3. Hello, I am looking to buy my first Porsche and am looking at a 2005 Carrera 6 speed . It is Artic Silver Metallic With full Sea Blue Leather. It also has Sport Chrono, Self Dimming Mirriors, Rear Wiper, Bose, Supple Leather front and rear, PASM, Heated seats, and the Power Seat Package and has 16,000 miles. The owner is asking $62,000.00 Does anyone think this is a good price? The car is very clean (including a clean carfax report) with unblemished rims and paint. I am also looking at a 2005 Carrera S six speed in Seal Grey Metalic with full black leather interior (also a 6 speed). It has 3 spoke multi-function wheel, CD Changer, Bose, Adaptive Sport Seats, Sport Chrono, Self Dimming Mirrors, and Nav, and heated seats. It has 30,000 miles, good paint with scuffed (slightly) rim faces. The owner is asking $67,000.00. I have driven both and could tell the difference in available torque around town in the S. The car has more miles and felt like it did for some reason I can't put my finger on. It also has a clean carfax report as well. The S seems like a great deal but the other is lower millage, has the PASM and Sport Chrono as well and felt tighter when I drove it. Any suggestions? They both seem priced about right given they are private party (according to Kelly Blue Book). The $67,000.00 is at the upper end of what I am willing to pay, and if the standard Carrera is a good deal I think I would be happy with it (I should not have driven the S later in the same day). Any suggestions would be appreciated as I am new to the cars but thought I would start with a Carrera. Thanks!
