  1. problem solved I think. I know many don't update their resolved issues so thought I would. It turned out to be pin 14 in the engine harness block connector wasn't making a good contact. Once sorted that all has been good. Thanks for the advice and help

  4. Hi. I have a 2004 996 Carrera that every few days throws the CEL then feels low on power and when plug in Piwis it comes up with fault code P1328 Inlet cam, bank 1 driver. I have swapped the valve solenoid from bank 1 to 2 in the hope the code would change to bank 2 but it didn't. Any ideas before I start getting too far into over next few days? Cheers guys.
  5. Mine was the solenoid for the valve lift system. The one nearest to middle on each bank. I found it by swapping left to right then waited for CEL to come on and hey presto the fault had swapped sides to cyl 5. Swapped for new and no problem since.
  6. only faults that I have seen are 000C FL SHOCK ABSORBER VALVE 000D FR SHOCK ABSORBER VALVE 000E RL SHOCK ABSOEBER VALVE 000F RR SHOCK ABSORBER VALVE Sometimes all at same time, sometimes just FL and sometimes both rear. Its so variable and sporadic.
  7. I have 2007 997.1 that has an intermittent PASM fault. Start car and drive sometimes few seconds ,sometimes an hour. PASM failure comes up and obviously goes into default mode. Plug in PIWIS and get fault varying from all four Shock absorbers (dampers) to sometimes both rears and sometimes Front Left. Faults are very inconsistent. have done the usual things of calibrate steering sensor,check coding of units etc,check connections. Feeling it is PASM control unit but customer says he had a unit plugged in and it was still the same. The actual values seem ok when driving with Piwis plugged and and watching them then one will drop out and as system goes to failure all current values read 0.00A
  8. I have 997.1 TT that keeps coming up with EGTS fault codes P0546 and P0549. The temperatures appear to be stuck on 1100 degrees C when enter through PIWIS tester. Have replace the EGTS sensors and still have the same problem and reading. Any thoughts? or does anyone have wiring diagram for the multi plug that connects to the block for sensors?
  9. Hi everyone. I have a Cayman S 2006 here and has a random misfire only from cold. With the Piwis it gives fault codes P0300,P0301 and P0303. I have changed all coils to updated version and spark plugs although all looked good. I changed the AOS as found small amounts of oil in the intake but still get same codes. Start from cold and after a minute or so misfires, CEL on and running rough. If I turn off and restart everything clears. sometimes it will come back on soon after but usually then its totally fine. Any ideas? Am going to play a little more with PIWIS but all activations etc seem normal but I only have a few minutes when first run engine everyday or I simply end up with good running engine and the fault codes above. The camshaft deviations and figures seem to be ok as I just checked them.
  10. final update thanks for your advice guys but it was a stuck injector on cylinder number 1. I removed them all and took them to injector specialist when put on test rig the injector for number 1 cylinder was like a hosepipe as soon as igniton switched on. the white/blue smoke was excess fuel.I replaced that one and ultrasonically cleaned other 5 and problem solved!!!
  11. will do that tomorrow but i only had that code once.cleared it and now even with rough running,misfire and sometimes thick white smoke then blue smoke it hasnt returned. I suspect the code was as result of bad running engine and not the cause. the sensor is only a year old and was genuine from dealer. If sensor disconnected surely it goes to set reading and therefore although may not be perfect it would run better? white smoke is indication of what usually in 911?
  12. JFP as i explained before,the ROW cars only have one sensor in middle of cat. Also if i disconnect it then it makes no difference to running Surely this should make the sensor reading go to lambda 1 safety mode? It made no difference

I had a friends car so plugged my 'bad' ECU into it and surpirsingly it worked perfectly so not the problem and the good running for 10 mins with a different ECU was coincidental. now at stage where i think injectors will be next course of action? also may borrow a gauge and check fuel pressure.i had a spare pressure regulator so already fitted that. thanks
  14. update; i plugged in another ECU from another car and it ran perfectly from cold. Unfortunately then it started running badly after 10-15mins..I let car sit and go cold again to see if temperature issue but it runs the same(badly) with both ECU's now!!!! seems both original and replacement ECU have blown? how to find the cause is my question and also aynbody know where to get ECU repaired? I am in London UK
  15. hi all either you are confusing this with a 996 or the american models are different for your smog laws. Here in europe they have one sensor in the middle of the cat. This a UK car thanks
  16. hi loren this does not give me a p number code. just the 23. this is 993 so only has one oxygen sensor. just googled the code and description and it takes me to a chip company??? do you think possibly this is an ECU fault? am at my wits end with this. Everything on this car is factory standard
  17. hi guys i have a 993 C4 (MY 1996 varioram) here in the uk. I went away for 3 weeks leaving the car parked up. returned and after initial starting all seemed fine. Left the car running for about 20mins during which time it began running very lumpy and misfiring. tried to rev it and thick white and blue smoke. I thought possibly fouled up so changed spark plugs,put in fresh fuel and fuel filter. Started car up and running very poorly and slow to rev up with periodically excessive wispy white/blue smoke. plugged in a friends PST2 and only fault arising is the following; 23 CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM LIMIT I have not seen or heard of this diagnostic code. can anyone help??
  18. yes i programmed the key first and it was few days later that when still not cranking i decided to flash the DME. it is porsche genuine PST2 and cable. have used it past 5 years for programing and all diagnostics,no problems. there was a strange thing happened when i went to enter the immobiliser code as thought why not try and reprogram like new unit as last resort. after entering old then new code(same as old as not changing it) the PST2 said test aborted and a code (which cant remember)
  19. sorry loren its a uk car and part number seems correct for vehicle. its the alarm/immobiliser box that is dated 2011. the dme looks original

  21. hello. i have a boxster 2.5 tiptronic 1997 here that is non start. i have no history other than bought in auction and it looks like everyone and their mother been into it. anyway the problem is that it doesnt crank.have had pst2 on it and no codes there. have checked alarm and key transponder and when insert key and turn the immobiliser deactivates. reflashed the dme. when trying to input codes from IPAS numbers it kicks me out after entering immobiliser code?? the start relay in trunk has its feeds but the switched earth from dme is not present. everything seems to be there and paired but as if still not talking between dme and immobiliser box(which is dated 2011 so obviously replaced). i bought and programmed new key and that all seems to work. another weird thing is that if i do sports car handover it says alarm not found??? if i go into alarm system itself with pst2 it all seems to be there. including brake light switch,tip lever position,pill in key etc etc. any ideas?
  22. its is more than likely the fwd relay which converts signal from wheel speed sensor to signal for speedo reading. or the sensor for speed which from memory is left front one??

    gt3 non start

    thanks loren. i found the problem. it was cam timing. the tools used were for early gt3 9661 with 9661/2 plates for inlet cams but as its 04 it should have been set with the gold 9661/3 inlet plates. reset it and all fine now. i was suprised it was that as the cam sensors threw faults up and would have thought even if timing out the sensors would still pick up signal from cams when turning. anyway all seems good now

    gt3 non start

    hi all have 2004 996gt3 that friend just rebuilt engine. after initial start up all seemed fine at idle for about 10 mins. tried to rev slightly and holding back like air leak or fuel starvation. then it cut out. no mechanical noises etc. now just cranks with no efort to fire,not even splutter. on pst2 it comes up with three faults P0335 rpm input circuit p0344 phase sensor 1 p0349 phase sensor 2 so presumed crank sensor. swapped it for used one and put his in another car. his worked ok in other car. this gt3 still just cranks.looks like there was no spark. any ideas? we had to stop looking last night as it was getting late.
  25. the car has 54k miles on it. the fault codes are the usual of P0300 multiple misfire P0301 cyl 1 misfire P0302 cyl2 misfire P0303 cyl 3 misfire and if i leave it rough running for few minutes more it will then show in addition P0304 cyl 4 misfire P0306 cyl 6 misfire even when left for ages running badly and misfiring and spluttering i have never seen P0305 come up or any other fault related to the suspected variable cam timing solenoid on bank 1. when i compare the readings of bank 1 and two in actual values of cam adjustment it seems that values on bank 1 seem lazy hope this helps with your questions?
