    thanks, I just fitted the Goodrich steel braided hose. works great, didn't realise that these aren't cheap for that little piece of steel.

    Normally when i pressed on the brake pedal hard, I get a hard pressure on the pedal and the car brakes works like a charm, even during times when i needed to get the car to a halt fast. However, out of curiosity, I stepped on the pedal beyond the resistance that I normally get when stationary, I realised that the pedal could actually travel further down beyond that, with a spongy and a faint weird squeal (like the sound of compressed air) coming from the brake pump in front. Is this normal for other cars in this forum? Or could it be that the pump is not working well or even air in the system? I have just bled the system, and i seriously doubt it's the air in the system.

    I live in Singapore, a part of the world where seldom one does their maintenance on their own. So difficult to loan. Parts are hard to find here too. I would probably indent one from US and ship it back before I bleed my brakes in that case.

    hi, i am bleeding my brakes for the first time. I do not have the luxury of a Motive Bleeder and have to do the manual way of depressing the clutch from an assistant. Loren mentioned that it is not the best way to do it as air may be introduced as compared to the bleeder, but if I really have to do it, do i have to keep the pedal depressed all the way while releasing the valves? Or do I keep pumping it? Also, do I drain the old fluid till it comes to the MIN level on the reservior before topping up with the new one? Is there a good way of doing it the manual way? I am changing my fluid to the super blue now and would be switching it between the gold and blue every 2 years, has anyone experienced the blue dye (ATE) staining the reservior? Thanks

    I drive my car once every week. After leaving my car (2006) for 5 days, I tried to take it out for a spin. I couldn't unlock the car using the remote so I used the key hole to unlock, when i opened the door, the window didn't nudge. The moment I put the car in standby mode the rear spoiler raised by itself, and came all the faults (PSM, Rear Spoiler, PASM etc) the door illumination light also didn't go off. I decided not to start the car fearing I could cause more problems. Could it be a flat battery? Or could it be the electronics just died on me? Now I couldn't close the door as the window prevented the door from closing. I hope this is just a flat battery, did anyone experience the same symtoms for a flat battery?

    Just want to find out what brands of lowering springs are most commonly fitted onto Boxsters with no PASM. Also considering money is no issue, which springs would perform best on our cars?

    I am thinking of changing my perfectly good brake hose with the steel braided ones, has anyone tried them and any difference from the change? there should be a total of 4 hoses in the 987. correct me if i am wrong?

    I sent in to my mechanic today and found some leakage dried up below the water pump area. Under the TSB "Coolant Pump Replaced Unnecessarily" , my leakage fits exactly the first diagram diagram where the area of leakage doesn't warrant a replacement. The affected area is all dried up and has no sign of moisture. However I am particular sceptical of the condition of the water pump since my car is coming to 3 years old , done 33,000km and my coolant needs to top up more regularly now. Has anyone's pumps failed earlier than my car? Does anyone has any link on the DIY on removing the pump? (996 has one but not similar) (My car warranty is almost due to expire too)

    Not so sure but it seems that there's light shining from within my left interior door handle. However the right handle doesn't illuminate. Is there really a bulb within? Any idea how do I remove the door panel and also replacing the bulb?

    I know it's kinda silly, but I have read almost every article regarding the Particle/ Cabin Filters on this forum, I just couldn't find it anywhere at all. I think it could be missing.. Could anyone take a picture and show me where it is located? My car driver's on the right side, so could it be on the other side of the car? Also since I cannot locate the filter, I don't know if my car can take the 571 Option for Activated Charcoal Cabin Filter. Could I use the Activated Charcoal Cabin Filter even if there is no such option on my car? If not, why is that so? Thanks guys..

    hey that's what i do too! just water and when dry, run my lint remover roller for suits and jackets to remove any dust or cloth bit remains over the canvas. that does help for a while. however i notice using sticky tapes or the rollers too often seems to remove some parts of the canvas as well although not so significant. maybe i just wanted to clean the canvas the proper way. For the Porsche protector, I need to buy the whole aluminium case of car care kit together with some leather and windscreen products which i already have using some other brands with i am comfortable with, and i only needed the Porsche cleaner and protector which i cannot buy separately, or at least over at my side of the world. So i guess i have to buy Raggtopp kit instead. One question, does the solvents (cleaner or protector) harms the car paintwork, glass, rubber seals or plastic parts of the car if i accidentally left some on them and forgets to wipe them away? I know Raggtopp says it doesn't, but is Porsche stuff harmful ? I may get it wrong, our Canvas is made from Cloth (Fabric not Vinyl) and it is from Haartz known as Sonnenland. Anyone knows which Sonnenland variant? All I know is that our canvas is made from 3 ply material - Acrylic exterior cloth, elastomeric/rubber film, and the interior lining cloth.

    My canvas is getting dirty and losing its water proofing abilities, just before i head to Porsche and get their cleaner and protector solutions, would like to check with you guys out there if the solutions are easy to use. Also if there is any brands out there that you guys find it more effective and easy to use compared to Porsche's. Thanks

    Thanks Loren. let me do a reset and check if the fault come back on. Also, there is this Drive Link function in the Durametrics that i could deactivate certain links (eg Fan Stage 1 or the Cylinder 2 Injection Valve Off), i accidentally clicked on a couple of that, just wondering where could i find the status of the link (activated or deactivated)? Also, would the car computer system resets itself to the default status the next time I start my car engine, even though I might have deactivated certain equipment earlier on?

    guys, my car is stock, no flash. I did a dme and found no faults pertaining to the Engine Compartment Fan (side right vent) or anything pertaining to the temperature stuff. I did a DME on the engine, it stabilises at approx 85 degree celcius whether hard or normal drive. the engine compartment temp is hovering around 46-56 degress. However these readings are taken when the Engine Compartment Fan is on (as I have no way to deactivate the fan for the read to be taken). The Front Fender fan seems like it's always on if your Airconditioning is on, so that shouldn't be much of a worry. One more thing, My car smells like there's something burning inside the compartment after a drive. I also a couple of guys writing in asking if i do get that smell too. Could i get a quick show of hands from guys experiencing these two problems on their 987S or no S? 1) The Engine Compartment Fan is perpertually on! 2) The Right Side Vent produces a burning smell everytime after a drive!     Loren, I am also the first time user of the Durametric, also do not have a list of the fault codes for my 987 Boxster. Although the guys at Durametric are willing to assist me, I could not always ask them every time I have a problem. There are also some German language faults which they said they have not yet translate into English. Is there a list of fault codes and explanation that we could extract? My faults codes are Airbag 80F9 Unknown DTC: 33017 C152 Meldung timeout PSM Steuergeraet C140 Meldung timeout Kombi Steuergeraet PAS 8004 Versorgungsspannung Klemme 50 (SC+) Gateway C140 Communication instrument cluster 8001 over/undervoltage 8007 Gateway incorrect coding 8035 Passenger's front airbag stage 1 below lower limit 8036 Passenger's front airbag stage 2 below lower limit Front 8042 Front luggage compartment unlocking Right Door 8009 Driver's belt tensioner above upper limit

    Have you flashed your engine software by any chance? could i find out more using the durametric diagnostic software? i have not touched anything at all to the engine.

    henry, just got my wheels fitted. wasnt that bad afterall, though by lowering the car would definitely make the car look nicer on the 19 inches. I will keep it as it is. have u gotten yours?

    seems that i could only get the 275/30 or 275/35 19inch right now. could i ask those whose fitted these tyres on the 9.5x19 Carrera wheels (offset 46mm) without spacers, have any problems with the inner clearance?

    porsche recommends the tyre size 265/35 R19 on the rear for the Carrera S Rims 9.5 x 19. Is there anyone using 275/35 or 265/30 instead of the recommended size, because I cannot get the size at all! Seems sold out everywhere and they tyre manufacturers aren't making many. I am not using any spacers so am concern if any bigger tyre size will affect the clearance.

    The burning smell gets stronger after some hard driving? Is it normal? Even driving leisurely I get that smell after a while. Is there something amiss? Maybe I should get the car to the agent ASAP.

    hey henry, i am in the same situation as you, and with the same concern. I am also waiting for my CS 19" Wheels, for my 2006 987. Will let you know once I get the Wheels on, and if my car looks like a frog without lower it. But don't worry, if it looks ugly, just change the springs. I believe the guys here will definitely assist us as to how much to lower the car, and what kind of effect it will have on the camber and wear on tyres. Currently the standard springs allows me to fit in 3 fingers from the arch to the tyre. I would approximately assume it's 3cm in between. Lower 1-1.5cm would suffice.So next time go check out other cars how much allowance they have that makes their cars so nice.
