  2. I did some more searching and note: "Loren on Apr 22 2005, 01:00 AM The clutches on all Boxster and Carrera's is hydraulic and therefore not adjustable. There is a small amount of adjustment used to match pedal height in the clutch master cylinder connecting rod - at most 1/4 inch at the pedal. " So my 04 S clutch pedal height is quite a bit higher than my 98 boxster. I see that introducing air is a hack (don't like this idea) but I really need to get the clutch lower. Does anyone know if there are mods to the actual pedal itself? (I'm thinking of bending it!) As a tall guy I have a GT3 seat, with the special BK brackets to give me max space in the cabin. All is well apart from having to bring my knees far to far to my body for each change. This means my legs have to go outside the steering wheel again, obviously not great for quick changes. My clutch is like 2" higher than the dead pedal.

  4. Hi Guys, Does anyone know if the return height on a 986 clutch pedal is adjustable? My 98 was much lower than my 04 is and I'd like to adjust so the total travel is less if possible. Cheers,
  5. I have some GT3 seats in the black fire retardant fabric. Anyone know the part number for the cocoa leather covers + cushions? Or would I have to get the whole seat again in leather. If so anyone got the Cocoa GT3 seat part numbers? Cheers,
  6. You may also be able to input your NAV sound via the MONO input to the becker radio. There is a cable for this but check if this is supported. I want the fullstereo support of the 7" unit's features also for DVD MP3 music etc hence the Dension route.
  7. Hi, I did this a couple of years ago on my 04S with MOST. I took thee facia off the centre console and dropped the AC to the bottom, followed by CDR 23 radio. It's a bit of a stretch for all the wires buy they make it. Get your hacksaw out and cut space in the centre of the top two slots for your 2 DIN unit. I used a kenwood 7035 but there are better units now with integrated NAV and other goodies. You will also need 12 V power - I asked the garage to do this but you may be happy tapping the wires yourself. Back then, the only way to input sound was via a FM modulator (kenwood) into the radio antenna. This worked surprisingly well (as it's direct up the arial wire) but I didn't like the homemade way you had to tune the new unit via a channel on the CDR 23 radio. So these days you can buy a Dension unit from Eric at Bumperplugs for proper digital input into MOST. This is aimed at Ipod input into the MOST fibre ring and control via the CD changer controls - However I believe it can also accept analogue aux. So I intend to now install this and get my Kenwood touchscreen working as an aux channel in this manner. Proper bluetooth and updatable nav maps at last.... :D My 550 SE is a keeper so although I don't permit any exterior changes you gotta move with technology!

  10. Now units like the Dension exist, more people can hook up this sort of thing to the MOST bus. I installed a Kenwood 2 din unit and it misses about 1cm to the top in the 2 din (plus a little more) boxster dash - one of your units would be great to finish off. Why don't you sell them if they are oem quality? Just like this guys does for Jeep non standard holes, back to 1 DIN. http://www.quadratec.com/products/96082_400.htm Lets just say at this point, it cost more than the Avic D3 I installed. I purchased my system at Circuit City and they unknowingly gave me free installation. But when I visited their installation department, they told me that they didn't really do work on Porsches nor do they have the materials for it and that I needed to take it to a custom shop. I visited a few of the places and none of them really wanted to do the project to my expectation plus they wanted too much. The install is not rocket science but they sure do make it seems complicated. Went on some of the forums and didn't find anything out there that could give me the fit and finish I was looking for, searched ebay and no luck. So I winded up talking to my brother who does a lot of design and fabrication work. He use to work with metal fabricators, contacted them and had some of our components engineered for use on the boxster. The project turned out really nice and the system is really well supported, I got some requests from other folks interested in it, so my brother winded up ordering extras since we had already paid to have the CAD drawings done up. We did document the installation in case anyone else needed to know how to do the install. I did mine with the GPS just above the windshield, rear view camera, the Vehicle Speed Sensor ( VSS ) for GPS accuracy and the brake bypass so that you can input addresses on the go. The nice thing is fascia or faceplate and the custom bracket will work for Pioneer AVIC-Z2, AVIC-Z1, AVH-P6800DVD and FH-P4200MP as well. I got the project done with my brother instead, solved my problem and hopefully he can make a couple extra bucks helping others out too.
  11. JR, How did you wire this into the most ring? I also installed a 2 DIN kenwood in my 04 986 and I initially needed a FM modulator via the radio antenna as there was no compatibility with most initially. I am now looking at the Dension unit from Bumperplugs for this and ipod for a proper digital link into the ring.
  12. Hi Todd, First post - I love my 2004 986 500 SE but it's time for more power now it's only used on the track. Great thread (amazed you make it sound so easy! ) and I'm therefore putting together the following shipping list: - 3.6 motor - ECU reprogram (Softronic?) - Air intake upstream of the throttle bod - 996 gauge cluster Any other misc parts I need, like headers, spacers,etc. I'm presuming my wiring from my MY is okay? Also for the 20,000 dollar question, where do you get your engines from ? :lol: Cheers,
