  1. From what I have been told Stop Start technology is amazingly advanced.

    The bits I remember:

To start the car ONLY the optimal cylinder (s) are fed with fuel and ignighted.

This turns the engine over, being up to temperature it starts with fuel being fed into the remaining cylinders as normal. Reducing the need for the starter motor and load on the battery.

  2. Hi Everyone,

Time to get back into a Porsche.

Heart says 997.2 C4S head is saying Panamera hybrid.

Could someone please explain the easy points to look for in an advert / photos spot the facelift 970.2?

My budget puts me in the bracket of a higher mileage facelift or the original model.

Any help and advice please, before my heart wins

    TIA

  3. Thanks for your reply.

Just finished bleeding the system no hint of any air not even the tiny bubbles. No chance of any air getting into the secondary system from my actions.

Being in a bit of a flap, asked same question on planet 9. There is a suggestion that reusing the shims may be the culprit. Never crossed my mind to get new shims

    Live and learn.

    Thanks again

  4. Hi Everyone

In a bit of a rush as we depart for the ring in the morning.

Fitted new Pagid rotors and ebc yellow stuff pads to the front. Also a dot 4 fluid flush.

Suffering with the dreaded soft pedal. Wasn't sure if it was just new pads and rotors.

100 miles bedding in no improvement. 50 miles more spirited - still no improvement.

So to the 60-10 mph series of hard deceleration. 6 by 2 sessions with time to cool. No improvement.

Out of desperation a series of high speed emergency ABS stops and the pedal has come back to almost normal.

So the advice is do the brakes need flushing again both primary & secondary systems?

    Thanking you all in anticipation.

  5. Hi Everyone.

Sorry for the post, but I have researched and researched and keep coming up with numerous different opinions.

I would like to fit some 18x7.5 ET50 with 225/40R18 and 18x10 ET65 with 285/30R18 to my Base Cayman.

In theory the fronts are fine, but may have a better stance with 15mm spacers

The rear will need 18mm spacers to prevent rubbing (or just to get them to fit lol)

Some say NO to the front spacers and the rears need 21mm plus

So a bit confused and hence would welcome any informed advice.

    Thanking everyone in anticipation

  6. Thanks for your quick reply....

Sorry, dumb questions. How do you check the mechanism support? Would the whole assembly appear loose? Do I need to remove the wiper arm and then the plastic trim to have proper look?? If I do, is there a correct method for removing the wiper arms, once the nut(s) has been removed? Seems to be "stuck" down really well.

Going to try the lube with some wd40 and copper grease. First.

Wish me luck, and thanks again.

  7. Hi All

Needed a replacement windscreen after a stone cracked the glass

When the first screen was installed (at my home by a mobile installer) the passenger wiper did not touch the screen in the middle.

When in use about 6in of the screen at the bottom does not get wiped.

The fitters re-ordered a new screen direct from Porsche so not a VW screen, to hopefully resolve the issue...

Not the case, the wiper still does not touch. The have suggested replacing the blades with new ones, but these were only replaced last march as part of the service. I have tried the old blades and the result is exactly the same...

    Any ideas anyone.

    Thanking you all in anticipation

    Lee

Please excuse the photos, taken on my phone and probably upside down. But if you know what you are looking at you can see the mid section of the blade does not touch the screen.

    Cheers

    Hi Loren

    Another amazingly quick reply

That is as far as I got - local OPC not much use

If you look again that part is in front of the rear wheel and is a spoiler. OPC was going to order this as the front mud flap but says this bit keeps some of the road grime from the rear suspension.

Especially useful if you have air suspension (I don't know why).

They don't think the part is availble - even though I have one already lol

    Any more ideas Loren?

    Kind regards

    Lee

  9. Hi Loren

Hope you can help need the part number for the front mud flaps - hope there is a separate code for each side as I have got three from fleabay and just need the remaining one.

Can only find references for the rear ones on the PET system :(

Do you know if there is a TSB or anything regarding the fitting? Hope it's just a case of remove wheel & screw on, but best to check

Search came up with nothing, so don't know if they are called something different that side of the "pond"

    Thanking you in anticipation

Ooops - forgot to add 2005 KN S UK RHD

  10. Hi All

Anyone know how to adjust the front wiper arms???

The passenger side (UK Right Hand Drive so on the left) misses the bottom of the windscreen right in the middle beneath the arm wiper pivot

The Drivers Side doesn't wipe fully for the full arc at the same point.

Bought new genuine Porsche blades thinking that the old ones were at fault, but the new one are just the same. :(

    Cheers

Just wondered what number 5. is????

  12. Hi Ventuje

Out of sheer frustration one of the Porsche assistance guys moved the steering wheel position, which "cleared" the fault.

but... they dared not to switch the pepper off, so they immediately drove it to the local OPC where it broke down again.

On Thursday morning I got a call from the OPC, at the moment they don't know whats wrong, or if its under warranty... but for them to investigate further I have to pay £245. Just in case it's not a warranty repair..... :o

They promised to call with a progress report on Friday afternoon, but still not heard anything. So fingers crossed I don't end up with a big bill.

I did give them a whole list of other "issues"

Rear Tailgate sometimes closes without warning.

Clunk under the floor when braking

Suspension Fault - came on after the steering fault

Hesitation on acceleration (especially after long motorway run)

    Handbrake not releasing first time.

Only had the pepper 5 months!!!

Going to take them days it bet :(

    Promise to keep you informed.

    Kind regards

    Lee

p.s. I had read your post, but I was hoping for an easier solution - they had already thought about releasing the transmission and winching onto a flat bed, but the way I have to park would have made it nearly impossible :P

  13. Hi All

    Urgent help please....

Got a steering fault yesterday, removing an reinserting the key quite a few times sorted it.

Today no joy, I now have two Porsche service techs outside scratching their heads, they can't get the steering lock off to move the pepper. (They have been here for 4 hours lol)

    Anyone got any ideas????

They have tried removing the battery

Jumping the car off a remote battery

The car won't even talk to the diags computer....

As the car is at home, reversed down a narrow dirt track they can't even drag it out.

Please help, before I end up with a big silver shed...

    Thanks in anticipation

    Lee
