  1. You are right on JFP. I am able to read out the different temp sensors and watch them react. Engine (coolant) 77.25', Intake 41.25' and oil temp 69'. So the ECU is telling me that it is getting signals in and putting them out through the OBDII port. However, I am getting a repeatable P1671 (computer monitoring: reset) which Porsche lists simply as "ECM Faulty". So tomorrow the computer gets shipped out. I tried swapping the relays in the back to ensure that wasn't the problem and that 1671 keeps coming back. It is the only code that I can get to repeat. Everything else is silent.
  2. So, I unplugged the throttle body and plugged into a spare. As soon as I turn the key to "on" it commands the throttle plate to full close, even with the engine hot. With the throttle body unplugged, the car starts fine. So it seems that the command to close the throttle plate is what is choking the engine when hot. Anyone seen thing type of behavior? Is this a computer issue, because it acts the exact same with two different throttle bodies. (2000 Boxster S with e-gas)
  3. Well the O2 thing turned out to be a fluke. Still having the issue.
  4. A bit of new information after talking to tech support at GIAC... I was previously told that the computer only looks for the CPS signal to start the car. A lot of people said that. But, after talking with the guy at GIAC he suggested checking the O2 sensors. With all four sensors unplugged, the car starts normally. I think we are narrowing this down... O2's seemed happy in the Durametric software but I have heard rumors that the data for the O2 in Durametric can't always be trusted 😞
  5. Hey JFP, this is Jason. You helped me on the pelican private messages. Yes, fuel pressures are rock solid within spec. Especially after changing the FPR on your recommendation!
  6. Changed that too. And used Pedro's advice to just unplug and see if the car will start. No change at all. 😞
  7. So after searching this forum and many others I am at wits end. She cranks perfectly fine and after about 30 seconds she comes to life on a few cylinders and then smooths out and runs perfect. Restart is perfect. Cold start is perfect. Only after sitting 20 minutes once hot and I can recreate it every time. No codes are shown whatsoever. Here's what I have swapped so far. 1. Crank Position Sensor 2. Purge Valve 3. Fuel Pump 4. Cam position sensor 5. Fuel Pressure regulator 6. Spark Plugs 7. Throttle Body (and did the recalibration) 8. Fuel Filter 9. Engine Compartment Temp Sensor 10. Coolant Temp sensor. 11. Smoke Test / No vac leaks Yes, I loaded the parts cannon up and fired it directly at the car. What am I not thinking of?
  8. Does anyone have a trick for getting the brake booster rod out of the brake pedal? Or do you have to suck it up and use the Porsche tool? 2004 Cayenne S.
  9. Clearing the code worked. But I thought P codes were powertrain? Plus, why did it throw a check engine light for an HVAC issue?
  10. Hi Guys and Ladies, Had a weird one today. Anyone know what a P8448 code on a Cayenne GTS might be? It comes up with the Siemens engine control module. Thanks in advance for ideas!
  11. Found the culprit... passenger side vanity mirror. Power lead was crushed by the attachment screw and shorting it out. Pulled every light and put them back one by one till something bad happened. Old school...
  12. Got it. Thank you. Apparently the melted center contact is a good starting point. But still doesn't seem to make sense for all the other lights too. Maybe Miss Piggy just wants to spend some quality time with me. Haha.
  13. Does anyone have access to a 2004 Cayenne S wiring diagram? My interior lights will not come on. Fuse 12 was blown, and it blew again immediately upon replacement. Now it seems to not have blown but no lights come on. I'm trying to find the branches that come off of fuse 12 in the drivers side dashboard.
  14. And yes, we have the IPAS codes... just not sure where to enter them in the PIWIS.
  15. Yup... we got the PIWIS connected and can see that it says "Immobilizer Active" with a picture of an open circuit. We are trying to figure out how to change its state and apparently that TSB has some info in it on how to do that.
  16. Nope... lost the key. New key purchased from the dealer but as soon as we unlocked the car with the tumbler, the alarm started going off and now we can't get it turned off. The PWIS won't recognize the "alarm system". We pulled the immobilizer box out and can't figure out how to reset it so we can program the new key with RF pill.
  17. Trying to replace a lost key on a 2002 996. New key physically unlocked door but now alarm won't shut off. Apparently there is a TSB 213 on dealing with this issue. Anyone have access to TSB 213? Thanks in advance.
  18. Someone here must have dealt with this issue already... I sure hope!
  19. 2003 Cayenne S So my wife's pepper had a fishbowl in the passenger rear taillight for awhile now. I guess long enough that it shorted something out as the running lights no longer have power. I have 12V going to every pin in the connector except the common orange wire for the dual bulbs in the bottom of the tail light. Brake lights, turn signal, back up light work just fine. The fuse on the passenger side panel is in proper working order. I believe there is a controller box for the taillight somewhere in the rear cargo area (not the tow controller, the actual taillight controller). I am guessing that the driver for that power line has shorted out since I cannot get 12V on that one single pin (I think it is pin 3; grey/red strip wire). I have the rear cargo area torn apart looking for the control box with no luck finding it. The cable harness branches and comes back together in so many places I cannot identify where that Grey/red stripe wire gets power from. Does anyone have knowledge, or a graphic of where that control box is? The wife is getting pissed that she can't drive the truck at night for fear of getting pulled over by the police. Any help is greatly appreciated!!! -JB
  20. I am hoping that you guys can help me out here. Just had the pepper in for a few issues that were covered under extended warranty. One of the issues that I asked them to fix was the "footwell" lights not staying on. I believe these are called "comfort lights" but I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, when I press the button (that is all the way towards the right/passenger side) up near the map light selector the footwell lights flicker on them instantly go off. It is kind of random as to how many pushes of the button gets them to function, but I have noticed that there are three levels of intensity. The problem is that the lights won't stay on... seriously is a flicker. As first I thought there was a short under the dash and it was a spark, but now I think that the light just goes on and off immediately. Dealer told me that a bad main battery would cause this and they need $900 to replace it. So, I changed the main battery (and the aux battery) myself and still have the same problem. Dealer also replaced all eight pencil coils and the instrument cluster... You guys have any other ideas or experience correcting this? Thanks in advance... Jason 2004 Cayenne S
  21. I just changed both batteries after having the truck in for service and Porsche saying I needed a new main battery to the tune of $900. I did it myself and unfortunately changing both batteries did not fix the issue as they suspected :( Just a note though... I have a 2004 with the Bose. There is, in fact, a battery under the subwoofer in the rear of the truck. I read a lot of posts all over the web that said if you had Bose you definitely did not have a battery. Well, after I took the Bose sub out, there was a very large battery under there :) Setting the two batteries side by side shows that you cannot "swap" these batteries. The main battery (under seat) is about 1.5" longer then the Aux/Starting (rear trunk) battery. It will physically not fit in the rear battery tray. Jason 2004 Cayenne S
  22. An impact gun with a triple square??? I did this once on a 911 Turbo flywheel. I really, really, really don't recommend that. I chewed up a bolt head in very short order and ended up having to use a Snap-On bolt extractor. Certainly no offense to Mudman, but impact guns were made for Chevy's.
