  1. make sure your dealer is fitting the old rms seal not the new one. part number ends in 40 new is 41. My car has stopped leaking after fitment of the old seal, seems the new one with teflon coating leaks, and Porsche AG have been advised
  2. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The seal and cover can be changed (more easily) if your engine has the newer style. The earlier bolts are known to leak (see Tool Pants post above) so he should check closely to see if the seal is actually leaking - could be just the bolts. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Apologies mine is a 2001 c2 3.4l. All of the 7 bolts mentioned in the TSB have been changed to the new sealed ones, leak is coming from that little bolt in the middle of the 3 ims flange bolts
  3. Having sent pic (the one of the cranckshaft and seal in the TSB thread, which I had difficulty trying to post!) to service manager, it seems leak is from the intermediate shaft orientation bolt which is in the middle of the 3 flange bolts!
  4. Having shown this pic to my service guy it appears that my leak is coming from the small intermediate shaft orientation bolt that is in the middle of the 3 flange bolts, he is going to change the whole cover. How does that sound? Any suggestions?
  5. As some may know my car was in the shop after 2 rms failures. Service mgr, wanted to get a new engine from Germany because he thought it was useless to try and fix again, especially after it leaked only 50km after him replacing it. Yesterday the Porsche Middle East Tech guy comes in and says no to new engine and instructs service manager to change seal and close engine and keep it running for a while. Lo and behold apparently the leak is not from the seal but from a bolt somewhere near the intermediate seal! This only became apparent after they closed up the cranckase and cleaned up the area then observed as car was running. Because with the crankshaft measuring tool, my engine is coencentric and within tolerances. They are either going to loctite the bolt or fit a new one, cause the oil was leaking through the threadbolts. If this is true and she don't leak no more this sounds great. And could it be possible that all these rms failures are not really rms failures but leaky bolts? Your thoughts pls.
