  1. hello, just wondering if anyone has any specific approved gear axle oils used that can be purchased outside of Porsche dealers if possible pep boys, autozone, ect... I have 99 C2 and due for a change. Thanks Ed
  2. Hello PTEC, Yes, last week I was at the Porsche Dealership Michael Stead in Walnut Creek and they hooked the PST2 with me watching and checked out fine. Is this what you mean by faults stored on DME? I have had no CEL go on. Also I seem to notice lower than normal oil pressure reading when the engine is fully warm-half of the time registering at 1.4 or 1.5 at a stop- with outside temp averaging at 45-50 degrees(Walnut Creek, California). Thanks ED
  3. Thanks Loren and 1999Porsche911 for all your insight and advice, but this is just one variable that I am trying to eliminate that stems from a hunting/rough idle problem that I have been having for quite some time now. I've tried a few things with no changes, cleaned throttle body for carbon build up, ran fuel injector cleaner, and cleaned MAF. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You Again ED
  4. Hello all, I have a several questions about the Mass Air flow sensor. I have a MY 99 C2. I also removed the the MAF and this is the part# 996 606 123 00, I had Porsche pull the records for my car and it turns out it was replaced late 2003. 1. How do I know if my MAF is starting to go out? 2. How do I know if my car has egas and this is the correct part#? 3. what is the average life span of the MAF ? Thanks ED
  5. I would like particpate in this session, I have had a lingering rough idle problem that could be looked into, or just some advice on some other minor concerns...
  6. Hello, I have a MY99 996 with 70K miles on the clock with terrrible idle. Just curious on how you cleaned the throttle body out. Please elaborate if you can put in a step-by step process I can fully understand how to DIY. I know it has been discussed here and there but I just need someone to break it down for me. Thanks ED
  7. Hello Loren, This points me in another direction, thanks. Easiest thing first, I will get on disconnecting the battery. Do you have a DIY for this, I heard stories about trunk locking I don't know if there is connection between the two, don't want to find out. I also did a DIY search on fuel filter change and came up with nothing would you be able to help me out with this. You have been more than helpful Loren I will keep you posted on how it goes. Thanks ED
  8. Hello Loren, Thanks for the quick reply. I have owned the car for about 16 months now and have no record of the fuel filter ever being changed. With AC off it does idle steadily at 700 rpm fluctuating about 25 rpm up or down - very minimal-if even that! Never has it stumbled suddenly and seem to want to stall out. Are suggesting these are symptoms of a bad fuel filter. Do you also suggest that I pick up PORSCHE fuel filter and replace it. Sometimes I do run the car for half a week or so with 1/4 tank of fuel. Thanks Again Ed
  9. Hello all, I cannot justify going to any better forum and asking for advice. I should mention that it is a 99 996 C2 with 68K miles on the clock. I seem to be having progressing problem(s) with my idle (more pronounced in the last 2 months). I know this topic has been discussed until the cows come home, but I dont know what else to do before taking it to PORSCHE. Last week I changed air intake filter. spark plugs, and oil change, bottle of Techron and still no changes in idle. Can I reset ECU so car adjusts to the the recent tune up-is there a DIY for this. Like most cases it shudders when the car is warm and at a stop, but now I can actually feel it in my seat and look over to my passenger side seat and see it shake. No CEL light on. Also on some of the threads mentioned to clean the IACV or even using Gumout out in the butterfly intake- Can anyone elaborate on this, and or advise on more ways of eliminating any other variables within DIY range. Any Info is Greatly Appreciated. Thanks Ed
