  1. I've recently done mine, bought an OEM from e-bay and another cheaper make, both fitted without any problems and work fine. Dissconnect the battery befor doing the work yourself and you'll avoid any fault codes. Mark everything you take off so the new one can be fitted exactly as the old one was, particularly the 2 bolts in the base of the door which alter the angle of the glass. A good idea to mark the position of the glass held by the clamps.

  2. Just wondering if it is possible to tell through obervation if the ballast reisitor is bad. My dilema is this, RHS fan not working when A/C is on, however I recently replaced NS radiator and am wondering if there is any possibilty I've messed somthing up.

I now there is a hack but on RHD cars the two relays aren't as easy to access so I'm worried about shorting somthing out. I have checked the fan and its ok, ran a 12v supply to it. If the reisitor is in series and is there only to provide a slow running cycle for the fan can I bypass it with a parallel connection? if it works I know its the resistor? you thoughts appreciated.

  3. ... The roads are so bad over here that I'm getting a rattle on the hood where the two lugs locate into the windscreen frame. I have managed to reduce this with some thin foam, but what I'd really like to do is to make the hood frame push a little more closely to the windscreen frame. Alternatively is there a way to increase the tension of the center handle when it pulls the hood to the screen frame.

Porsche updated the two little pegs on the front edge of the convertible top that go into the windshield. See the TSB "Rattling Noises From the Cabriolet Top". The updated part number is 986 561 605 01 A09. I found a lot of the rattling and groaning noise from my convertible top went away when I swapped in these in my 2001 2.7, and they weren't very expensive

Many thanks Geoff I will look into this also, cheers guys.

  4. Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has come accross this problem before.

  5. Need to look at and possibly replace the AC Condenser fan in an 00' Boxster S. In the repair manual it says to remove the front tire...doesn't say which. Anyone know? I am thinking the right but don't want to waste time and cuss too much.

    Thanks for info.

Its not just a question of removing the wheel Don, the bumper has to com off as well. Don't think a fan throws any codes, does it?

  6. Hi, yes plenty of posts on here about this, depends on the type of noise, if it resembles the squeek made by rubber bushings you can lub them but it will come back, if its more of a creek then you will need to replace the track control arm. I have injected the ball joints but again it's only a temporary fix. Replacing the arms will most likely sort out all your noises. It's not a difficult job,say about 1-1/2 hours each side.

  7. Just replaced the radiator in my 2000 2.7 tip, while checking the fans work I noticed that the drivers side (uk) is not working, does anyone know what fuse governs that rad? there is no chart in my fuse cover.

Also while topping up with coolant I noticed that if I removed the oil filler cap there is a small amount of back pressure and when right off car idles roughly, is this normal. Car fine in every other respect.

  8. Not long did mine, same year and model. You'll find there is a raised mark on the control arm which lines up with a mark on the chassis, I lowered my front hub onto a block and let the hydraulic jack down slowly till they lined up, then tightened the bolt. It's so the rubber bush isn't under torsion when the car is standing at rest.

  9. mmmmm wobble wobble, you haven't run over an Umpa Lumpa recently and its got stuck in the under carriage?

Seriuosly though some wheel bearings can go bad but not cause any play, I currently have a car in my drive with just this problem except its more of a whire-whire-whire which gets louder as you get faster. One indicator is that they get noisier when you turn in one particular direction. You might look at your drive shaft joints also

  10. Well it was the cable, not too difficult to change, many thanks for the advice. Only problem now is the air bag light is on. Little confession, I did the job without disconnecting the battery, and tested the window with the air bag disconnected, any tips how to get the light to stay out.

  11. Just returned from having the track adjusted and noticed the drivers door window not working. Motor still works, and I can pull the window up and down. Checked the manual, but would apreciate any tips on removing the door card, the door lever cover looks tricky, also what might have broken? I'm thinking someone leant on the window.
