  1. Voltage should be between between 13.80 Volts and 14.50 Volts at idle.

    Hey Loren,

I have an '03 996 C2. After driving, my voltage read 13.43 VDC at the

battery terminals. Would it be the battery, voltage regulator, or alternator?

The battery is a couple months shy of 2 years old.

I am going to get my battery load tested today or this week. Is it possible to

have a battery on a battery maintainer (Porsche) too much?

Are you having problems with slow cranking speeds or starting issues? A few 10th/volt low is nothing to be worry about unless you have other issues.

I seem to be having some slow cranking speeds and the start does not sound right all of the time.

    TIA

    Regards,

    Paul

  2. That voltage is just a little low. AC and all fans should be off during the measurement.

    Any large current draws?

The battery test is essential as a bad battery simply will not take a charge as it should.

If it is a "maintainer" then it should be shutting off when the battery is at capacity - a "charger" does not do that and can damage a battery by over charging.

I performed a test. The battery maintainer automatically shut off. Drove the car for an

hour and made 2 stops. Returned home. Made sure that everything was off and measured

the voltage at the battery terminals. It measured 13.43 VDC at idle. I am going to get the

    battery load tested next weekend.

What would be considered a normal current draw? I'll have to measure the current and isolate

the circuit that has a large draw, if one is found.

    TIA

    Regards,

    Paul

  4. Hello all,

After having a great day watching the Petite LeMans at Road Atlanta I had an unfortunate incident.

I unfortunately hit a "road gator" (retread truck tire) after it was hit by another

car ahead of me and displaced into my lane. The outside of my car is OK, the

bra got marred, but underneath is a different story. The Wheel Housing liner is

damaged, the brake cooling duct is damaged, and the center cover is damaged! :(

I think that I can change out the other parts fairly easy. The Wheel Housing Liner, however,

looks to be a different story. Has anyone ever changed one of these? If so, does it require

the front bumper to be removed?

Any advice in this matter is highly appreciated.

  5. My battery died today. Thanks Loren for having such a great resource!!!

I know that it is a old thread but there are probably others getting into the

    same situation.

    Paul

My DuraLast 48-DL was $79.99 at Auto Zone, the DieHard International Group 48 was $119.99 at Sears.

    Thanks again!
