I was going to ask the same question. I have pss9 and recently got 19's with Michelin ps2. It could be because the tires are new, but i have about 250 miles on them and i don't feel nearly as confident around corners. To me the car definitely does not feel as planted. I'll give it a couple hundred more miles and see if it's any better. Hopefully it's just the tires breaking in. I'd be curious to see if anyone else has similar setup and what their experiences are.

I called them today and they were going to put in the generic PPG windshield. I wanted them to order the oem one. Won't be ready for another week. Hope insurance still covers it.

Thanks for the response. I feel better about getting it replaced now. I'm always afraid things won't fit back exactly right and i'd end up with more issues than I started with.

Hey guys, I'm planning to get my windshield replaced this Friday because of a crack that's right in my line of vision and was wondering if anyone has had problems after getting it replaced. Any windnoise, rattling, etc? I'm using Harmon Auto Glass/Glass Doctor through my insurance. Anyone used them for their Porsche?

If there is no room for an adult in the front with a forward facing child (20lbs +) seat in the rear, why do porsche sell one for the rear?

I installed these on my 99' 996 and kept the stock muffler/header setup on the car. I absolutely love them and they are suprisingly quiet (I am conservative too). I can feel a big difference in HP/Torque. I have owned 5 Porsches Boxster, Boxster S, 996 and this has been the best bang for the buck mod I have ever done. Keep the stock setup, the car will have slightly more growl (enough to get people wondering what's different about it) and enjoy.

Do you have any problems passing emissions?

When I had my first 2 kids (almost 20 years ago!!!!) there was no such thing as rear facing seats.

I need to be able to get my wife and the baby in the Carrera, otherwise it is not going to be an option :(

I guess the "official" rule is a baby needs to be rear facing up to 12 months AND 20lbs. I tried putting a rear facing in the back seat of my 996 and it'll work as long as the front seat and backrest is moved up all the way. I tried cruising with my family, my wife behind me, which meant i had to move my seat past the desired comfort level. Tried it once and never again. And we're not big people, i'm 5'8 and wife's 5'3.

I was anxious to switch my baby to the front facing one, so when he was 20lbs and only 8months (so what if he gets a neck injury, driving the pcar is more important right?) ;), I dumped the rear facing infant seat and got the Britax. Even with the Britax (or any other car seat), front passenger legroom is still compromised. So usually if we go out as a family for a longer ride than 15 min., we take the wifey's ride. I only take my son out in the 996 if it's just me and him.

In the end, we're trying to make Porsches something they're not: family cruiser cars. Cayenne maybe? :o

Well one week after getting my Boxster S, we find out m wife is pregant! (ops).

So no it looks like a 996 is in my near future.

Am I correct that you can fit a baby seat in the rear of a 996?

Hey congrats. I guess it wasn't planned, but then again they never are. I think a rear facing one will only fit properly in the front seat, but you'd have to get the airbag de-activation kit. You may find a rear facing that fits in the back, but it would take up so much leg room, that you wouldn't be able to fit a front passenger.

I have the Britax Roundabout forward facing (~$180) in the back and it fits perfectly. Don't buy one from Porsche unless you want to spend $500 on a car seat. Britax was the OEM for the forward facing Porsche car seat a couple of years back. Not sure who they use now.

I was told by seller and confirmed with Suncoast Porsche that the aero I factory bumpers come with the centers filled and would have to be cut out for the 3rd radiator.

Loren, thanks for the fast reply. I'm not familiar with the gel coating with these parts. So would this bumper need any additional prep work at the bodyshop without the gel coating? Thanks for the heads up on the 3rd radiator cut out. The seller states that this is the factory gt3 bumper.

There is a 99-01 front gt3 aero I bumper for sale with part # 996 505 983 01. This is different than the part # on the TSB for the same bumper which is 996 505 980 00 G2X. Anyone know what the difference is between the two parts? I included a couple of pics of the part for sale. Thanks

Has anyone purchased from MA Shaw, in particular the aerokit I (wing, sides, and front bumper)? I was wondering about the quality and most importantly the fit for my 2000 C2. Their prices seem pretty good. Also, any advice on installation? Would the instructions on the TSB be adequate? I've never installed body kits, only routine maintenance on the 996, so I have no idea of the level of effort. I've checked around the Northern VA area and the going rate is around $3K to prep, paint, and install. I'd like to cut down the cost by doing the install myself. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.

I have a 00 c2 w/45k miles and I'm getting codes P1128 & P1130. I had a local Northern VA Porsche specialized shop check it out for me. They didn't find any vacuum leaks and the 02 sensors had been replaced @44k. They tell me it's most likely the MAF. Is there any thing else they should have looked at or should I go ahead and get it replaced? http://www.autohausaz.com has a Bosch egas one for $210. Thanks
