  1. Call around some indy porsche shops in your area they may rent you the holding tool for a few bucks. If that doens't work you could try calling the dealer and maybe giving them a deposit for the cost of the tool? Long shot but worth a try. You dont really need 9285/1, just be careful and gentle when pulling the pulley off so you dont bend it. You will certainly need something to counter the pulley when loosening and tightening. The 24mm bolt that is holding the pulley onto the crank is uber tight.

  2. All of that wiring was factory. That is definitely the factory connector for the BOSE amp. But yes, someone hacked into it at some point to install some aftermarket equipment. See the pairs of twisted wires in the loom that runs back towards the vehicle? Those are the factory speak wires. So someone ran aftermarket speaker wiring at some point.

  3. Not sure if you've answered your question already but the line thats on the left side in the picture is your vapor line for the tank vent system. The line to the right is the fuel supply to the engine so that line is more likely to be your culprit. That being said I've never seen one of those connections leak in 10 years of wrenching on these cars but I guess its not impossible someone could have damaged it during removal to replace a fuel pump or level sending unit in the past. You may find that the fuel leak could be coming from the white tank flange itself. Its a very common problem on the cayennes. They crack and fuel being pumped out to the engine leaks out. I would clean that area up as best as you can and then jump the fuel pump relay and watch for a leak.

  4. I also have a random issue with the display screen on my 08 C2S. Sometimes when I start the car the radio will play but the screen is totally black. I've pushed the upper righthand button that will black the screen out and then turn it on and nothing. I've also powered the unit off and on and nothing. Moments later, viola and it will display everything normally. Maybe I should somehow convince my dealer to exchange the unit out before my CPO runs out?

    See if you can catching it acting up with the video camera on your cell phone and then show it to your dealer. If you're under CPO they should absolutely replace your PCM.

  5. Wow what a bunch of balogna. You have better chances of being struck by lightning twice on the same day than the spark plugs being siezed in that car. Im sure if you were buying the same low milage car from them, there would be no worries about any stuck spark plugs. The stuff you hear come out of peoples mouths sometimes is just ridiculous. By the way that service manager is an idiot, spark plugs thread into the cylinder head, not the engine block or case.

  6. I've seen a boxster burn up new fuel pumps before, in a matter of minutes too. I'm not sure exactly what happens but I've ran into this problem before, I burnt up two brand new, out of the box factory fuel pumps. I replaced the pump, took the car for a nice road test, let it sit for an hour, came back to start the car and sure enough, no fuel pressure, new pump was siezed. Replace the pump again, road test, let it sit, go to start it up, no fuel pressure, second new pump was seized! Drain the tank completely and filled with 10 gallons of fresh gas, no problem since.

    Its weird, but I've seen it....

  7. On any 987, access to the canister is entirely in the front trunk! You don't have to do anything in the wheel well to remove the canister. To gain access to the canister remove the black plastic cover over the brake booster. Its infront of the battery, near the center of the vehicle but slightly towards the pass. side. The cover is held in with maybe 8 phillips screws. Once that is removed you will see there is a plastic bracket that holds the canister to the body, if I remember right its held in with a T40 screw. After that you have two "quick" disconnect lines on the bottom of the canister and one electrical connector on the top of the canister. Its kind of a beast to get out, the connections on the bottom of the canister are tricky to get to.

    That being said, it sounds like your problem might be the tank vent valve getting stuck open. This valve is the only entry way for any fuel vapor to be getting into the engine. The tank vent valve is located under the intake manifold on the bank 2 (drivers) side of the engine.

  8. I would bet that its the same. You could try taking your sensor down to your local VW and comparing it. I would bet they have them in stock, they're commonly when windshields are replaced.

    I used a blower regulator from a Toureg in a Cayenne after I found the Porsche dealer didn't have it but the VW dealer across the street did. It used the same connectors and everything. It installed perfectly with no problems. You may have the same experience.

  9. The section of the console that the lower piece clips into is separate from the entire console. What happens a lot when that piece is missing is the tabs the piece clips into break off. When this happens there is nothing to clip the piece into. The tabs are on either side, check to see if they are still there but I would guess they're not. If they are there then you can definitely order the trim piece separately and clip it in.

    You should talk to the service manager at your dealer. With the new CPO program it seems like you should be able to have this covered.

  10. I have done searches all over and found very little. The car is a 02 996 Turbo and I have found no vaccum leaks, and the pump is running fine. Anybody else had any luck with these codes?

    Check and see if the over run air valves ( #2 in the picture) are holding vacuum. I know it sounds funny but if one of those valves is leaking it will throw those exact faults.

  11. RFM is right on the money. The most common cause for this is a leaking drivers side fuel tank flange. Should be part # 955 620 841 00. Due to the design of the tank, both flanges must be removed( there is one on each side of the tank) so you'll also want two sealing rings ( 955 201 133 01) There is an updated pipe that porsche wants you to install on the drivers side flange as well, 955 620 911 001.
