  1. It's pretty hard to establish a strong relationship with a dealer when you only see them once or twice a year. After all, these cars are bullet proof, aren't they?
  2. This thread caught my eye. I'm a 997-1 owner who used Chevron gasoline for years (I bought into Techron) and had similar 3/4 tank fills most of the time. A few months ago I was forced into buying fuel at a Valero station and filled up w/o a problem. I gave it some thought and began buying gas at my local Valero station across the street from Chevron and haven't had a fill-up issue since. Also saved a few pennies a gallon. Perhaps coincidence or maybe different nozzles. How many Chevron users experiencing short fills?
  3. Not to be rude, but why are you driving at all if you're prone to such episodes? It seems to me that you're very fortunate that you haven't hurt someone or yourself. I guess I'm being critical but it doesn't make sense to me.
  4. I recently read a comment in another list that there was an overlap and that both 996's and 997's were marketed as model year 2005 automobiles. Excluding Turbo's. Can anyone confirm or deny?

  6. I recently had the oil changed at a dealer. When stone cold the instrument indicates over filled. The dealer says normal when cold. Like others, the level moves all over the place, well within limits, when warm. Questions: Is it normal for the indicator to show over filled when engine is stone cold. What issues are raised in this condition? My car is a 997.1 series.
  7. Pushing in on the rotary volume control button will turn the radio off.
  8. I'm a Mac user with Camino being my preferred browser. That is where the issue lies, no problem with Firefox or Safari. As someone once said: "it's all magic."
  9. Last Post link on both 997.1 and 997.2 switches to first post rather than last post. No biggie but can be annoying when there may be many responses.
  10. I'm kind of neutral having not seen one. Reminded me of my grey primer '40 Ford coupe when I was in high school.
  11. One nice thing about the innacurate Porsche speedo is that it reads exponentially faster than reality. It helps keeping me around the legal limits when necessary. 145mph = ?
  12. No. Never. Nadda. Zilch. Well then, who? I don't want to use a Porsche dealer unless I have to.
  13. Where would Bridgestone fit in the above? Also, there is a local Firestone/Bridgestone dealer very convenient for access. Would you trust mounting/balancing to this type of store?
  14. Hi From the VIN you provided your car is Carrera Coupe S. 997-1 Model Year 2006. Engine Code M97.01 3.8 Liter built in 2005 and Trans. Code A97.01. I attached a pdf with this information and all of the original option codes as ordered from Porsche for your VIN. Hope this helps. DC Is the information shown in the PDF readily available?
  15. Mine too, and it's been doing so for 42,411 miles. Me three w/45.5 miles and I would be a candidate for IMS/RMS issues as I'm a daily short trip driver thru city traffic. Having a CPO car makes sleeping easier as well.
  16. Would you tell me where you found your wife. I need one just like her.
  17. Porsche should have out-sourced their clocks to Japan. The consensus was to just live with it.
  18. This is an known issue. There has been discussions either here or 6speed.com. My clock loses about a minute a day and I reset it weekly if I can remember how to find it in the PCM. Some people thought it had to do with the GPS but I don't have that option. How's your wife's camera?
  19. What do you people pay for oil changes from a dealer? My local Porsche-Audi dealer charges $195. and I'm not sure what they actually do, if anything, beyond oil/filter. My wife's Lexus dealer checks brakes, tire wear and all fluid levels for less than half the price of Porsche. They both wash the cars.
  20. l plugged the right rear tire on my '99 996 which picked up a good size screw and drove it for many miles on the street w/o a problem. A sharp eyed youngster who was admiring the car told me I had a low tire saving me much grief. I find it difficult to tell visually with low profile tires. Never tracked the car.
  21. I have recorded (using Radio Gaga for Mac) a lot of internet radio and transferred it to iTunes and then my iPod. Playing the iPod via the Dension interface through the Bose system produces really bad sound. Only listenable going fast in lower gears with windows open. Compressed music thru many portals does tend to create crap.
