  1. Are all C4S models widebodies? I see them advertised and some owners point out widebody and some dont. I love the rear view of the 02-05 C4S with the light going all the way across on the wide frame.
  2. The paint/coating at the base of the emergency brake in my 2001 C2 Cab is scratched and I was wondering if there is a good touch-up or do I need to buy a new brake? It seems like the coating is rubberized.
  3. I think you need a new ignition switch. If its not under warranty, you can buy the part on line for $30. Its the same switch as the Audis. The install takes about 15 minutes but you need to be a contortionist so you might want to let a mechanic do it. There are specific instructions on this website.
  4. I have a 2001 C2 Cab with stock exhaust tips. I want larger oval tips that will better fill the bumper cutout without looking strange. How wide a diameter can I go on new tips? I looked at the Schnell and Dansk Ovals, are they bigger than my stock tips (996 111 251 55) and does anyone have preferences?
  5. I personally dont know anyone who refuses to park in a public or private garage. I completely understand staying away from tight spaces and parking away from the fray. Certainly , I also understand not letting that 18 year old valet park your car. But how do you go to business meetings, ballgames, cultural events etc. without parking in a public or private garage?
  6. Any suggestions for touching up a silver hood release latch without disassembling the whole unit. Ive noticed many latches are scuffed up even in newer model 996's.
  7. How does the cassette holder come out? I dont use mine and I could use the space.
  8. Loren, Its great that you have DIY's for almost everything but when I see terms like Bowden Cables, Actuating Levers, and Disengaging the spring from the sill I get intimidated. Is there a glossary of terms or do I just need more mechanical experience? Thanks, Dean
  9. Is there an easy way to remove the hood and trunk release latches without taking out the whole unit so I can repaint them? My silver latches are all marked up in my 99 C2 Cab. Also, any painting tips would be appreciated.
  10. I would really appreciate it if you would film the oil change. I would be happy to reimburse expenses if you would make a video and send it to me (especially if you would verbally explain the steps). I saw the pictures on the DIY site. Thanks, Dean
  11. Is there a video available for DIY oil change for a 996? Do you think that a guy who is not mechanically inclined can do it or should I bite the bullet and bring it to the dealer for $200?
