  1. Don't live with it, take it back, it is your steering rack !!!!! $$$$$$ Get it fixed under warranty !!!
  2. I had the exact same wheel click. Exactly. Took it to the dealer and they had to replace the steering rack and a couple of sensors. This was two days out of warranty. Fortunately I had taken it in two weeks earlier for a warranty runout check and they gave it a clean bill of health, so they worked with Porsche and it was covered under warranty. Sorry to hear this. If you are still in warranty I would jump on this quickly. These are not cheap.
  3. Does anyone know if there is a replacement shift pattern button in aluminum available for the 5-speed like that for the 6-speed? If so, where would I buy it? Thanks.
  4. The paint on the interior drivers door handle in Alumalook has worn off from the previous owner's wedding ring. So I thought I would see what it would cost to replace it. In addition I thought it might be nice to change out the door pocket cover and door pull with the leather covered trim as provided on the S models (I have a base Boxster). I recently replaced the amber side markers with clear. The price from Sunset Porsche was about $12 each. Very reasonable. I sent Jeff Clark (great to work with) at Sunset Porsche an email inquiring as to the pricing. Check this out: 997 555 461 000 V05 - Alumalook Interior Door Handle - L 134.27 a week away 997 555 221 01 FSD - Leather Door Pocket Cover - L - Sea Blue 276.91 a month from Germany 997 555 222 01 FSD - Leather Door Pocket Cover - R - Sea Blue 276.91 month away 987 555 271 02 FSD - Leather Door Pull -L- Sea Blue 281.11 month away 987 555 272 02 FSD - Leather Door Pull -R- Sea Blue 281.11 month away, but only one shown in Germany, so if it's not really there it could be up to a year away. WOW !! This is not a slam in Sunset. I am sure this is the best price available for this. But man, that is expensive. It makes me wonder if Porsche is purposely over pricing these parts to keep owners such as myself from upgrading to S type trim. Wow. So, if anyone knows where I might get a used replacement interior drivers side alumalook door handle (same used on 997) for less than $130, please let me know. Thanks.
  5. I'm replacing the non leather door pocket lid and door grab handle with the factory leather parts. Thank you for the diagrams! They are much appreciated. How did it turn out? Was it a difficult job? Where did you buy them from and how much did they run you? I had a loaner Cayman S the other day while my Boxster was in for service and I really liked this leather trim. Any information you can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  6. How difficult is it to retrofit the Tire Pressure Monitor system to a 2005 Boxster? Could be as simple (HA !!!) as adding the TPM valve stems and activating the system in the on board computer system?
  7. I'm looking to buy a car cover for use outdoors. I live in Florida. Any recommendations?
  8. Can the sport chrono w/o PCM be added as an accessory or is a factory option only. If you can add it, how difficult is it and how much might it cost?
  9. Interesting analysis. And this is what I thought might be the case as well. However, I found out the car was titled on June 2, eight days before I bought the car which made for an interesting twist. I have been holding out taking the car back asking that they provide documentation in writing, which they never did. I eventually reported them to the DMV last week. Today we received a call that they needed us to come up and sign the title into our name. Turns out one party of a pending divorce rightfully sold the car to CARMAX which hacked off the other party who subsequently renewed the title back into their name unbeknownst to CARMAX. CARMAX finally convinced them to sign it back. After we signed it, it officially became ours. Praise God !!!
  10. Thanks for this. Question. It appears they (Carmax) have not transfered title nor registration to me. If I have an executed buyers agreement; a finance contract and a Florida Transfer of Registration form that indicates that within 30 days the dealer will transfer registration to me per Florida law, do I legally own the car?
  11. It was a done deal. Traded another car, financed, papers signed, everything, and I have had the car (and still do) in my possession for 10 days now. Looks like I need an attorney. Thanks.
  12. I bought a beautiful 2005 987 with 12400 miles from Carmax about 10 days ago. I have been waiting for my registration to come in and they have been giving the run around. Finally today they indicated that they did not have authorization from the previous owner to sell the car although it appears that a new title was issued 6/2/2008 and I am assuming the new Owner is Carmax. They want the car back and are offering me a similar car in a different color with 23000 miles for the same deal. This is not the same car or an equal deal. Since it is the weekend, I am not going to be able to reach an attorney until Monday. Anyone out there have any legal experience or are a lawyer that might be able to offer me some non-binding advice? I am in Florida. Thanks.
