  1. I agree. Knowing that it could be the ISS also, then it's going to a shop for a checkup. At 12k miles, it's too early for a new clutch but I may just get a new one anyway. I think I'll tell my indy to try the GT3 motorsports seal. :renntech: Did you try the GT3 motorsports seal and how did it work out for you? I have the 997 seal in my 2001 engine and it leaked within 3 hrs driving time. If the new seal worked what was the PN#. Hopefully find out soon what to use since it is going in the shop tomorrow. I guess I should have updated this thread a long time ago. I had the GT3 Motorsport seal fnally fitted May last year. Since then I have done about 6500 miles. The seal does not appear to be leaking. While I will hold my breath on it. It is certainly a record. Typically the last 7 seals have leaked within weeks of being fitted if not days. The underside of my bellhousing is dry as a bone. But.....I still will hold my breath. One other thing.... yes.....its fitted in reverse. What's the latest news? I might be getting mine fixed soon, so I'd like to know what's the best fix (using Mike @ Sports & Classic, Knutsford)
  2. I'm now told (by my local 'indie') that it's probably a failing piston and it may well need a new engine. Cam covers and cams off with boroscope down the plug hole to find out ;-(
  3. How do you get these off and re-fit them. Mine are half loose and rattling. Are they adjustable? 2004 Targa
  4. By the time it's revved to 3k it's gone. Just one tappet, I think. Oil pressure seems good (5 bar at 3k) More than 1 bar at tickover. Don't know what oil (only just got the car) but I'd guess at Mobil 1
  5. Tappet rattle at tickover when hot - should I worry? 2004 Targa tip, 53k miles
  6. It won't read the Nav disks, and when it plays an audio CD it sounds like a very scratchy record (radio, etc sounds fine) Any ideas (other than to bin it!) Can it be fixed?? It's in an early 04 Targa.
  7. Did you get anywhere with this? I have the same problem..
  8. What's the latest on this? Surely one of the MOST- bridge adapter developers has made something work by now that doesn't need the whole amp/speakers being replaced....
  9. What's the latest on doing this (Pioneer or Kenwood) on a 'MOST' equipped 996, with Bose 'upgrade' already installed?
