  1. Loren, Thank you for the diagram. I am pretty suremy dealer hasn't even try to change the rear light control box. At the moment, they sent me back home, me and the car, while "they'll wonder about this problem". I am sorry to conclude that they are not of great help. However, your response brings a good chance to finally discover the culprit of this story. I'll tell them about replacing the rear box. Is the PIWIS capable of telling right away the status of the rear control box? I keep the forum posted about this anomaly and its following result. Thank you.
  2. Dear Loren, My car is a 2005 (sept. production), 997 C2. I posted my topic in the 996 forum, supposing that this problem would have more probabilities to be observed here, also supposing that the circuitry would also follow the same pattern. I didn't replace my 3rd brake light with an aftermarket clear LED panel yet. I'm willing to do it if it's the solution to my problem. Thank you to let me know what you think. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hello dear members and contributors, I would be pleased to know if you could tell me if the circuity of the third stop braking light is shared with the circuitry of the fourth brake light please? I define 'fourth brake light' by the brake light in function when the rear spoiler is raised. I am asking this question because I have the following problem: Each time I drive my car, the 'Check raised light' signal appears. As soon as I drive with spoiler raised, the fourth brake light takes on and I don't have any error messages. My third brake light is okay (every leds work properlly). Therefore I wonder if there is some sort of switch or relay I should check in the main circuitry (I define main circuitry by circuitry related to the third brake light). My dealer becomes nuts with my car and doesn't even know what to do in order to solve my problem. He said that connecting the piwis didn't give any problem regarding beams and wires... I would be happy if someone could bring his contribution so I could solve my problem by myself. Thank you.

  5. Dear contributers and members, My 997 has been diagnosticated a water pump failure due to coolant leakage. I have failed to ask the mechanic a question which may sound stupid after all... :lightbulb: Does the engine need to be extracted from the body to replace the water pump? If this is not the case, is it a complex operation please? Thank you.
  6. Engage first gear only from dead stop. This is the rule I learned from the driving school years ago...
  7. Thank you for the photos Tool Pants. It's interesting to see the degradation of those colours. I hope the coolant fluid keeps its function, I mean the whole chemistry of the fluid remains intact; if I am correct, the coolant lifetime is supposed to be equal to the car's. Still, I wonder...

  9. dear members, my car is one and half year old. if i'm right, i remember being able to see the coolant through its plastic shell as blue/green. my car doesn't go out a lot; i was unable to drive for quite long and she stayed in the garage; as i'm back and drive it again, i noticed that the coolant's colour tend to look green/yellow through the plastic container. i'm not strong enough to open the container for now :( and can't tell you exactly what the colour is. Anyway, I would be curious to know if the colour mutation is normal, from this blue to a yellow/green. Knowing that in theory, the liquid doesn't have to be changed, I find this disturbing. :help: thank you to let me know what you've experienced zach
  10. Heloo dear members, I know that every 997 S with the Bose system has the M.O.S.T. integration. I have a non-S 997 without Bose system. I would be happy to know if anyone knows about existence of M.O.S.T. integration in that type of vehicle. Thank you.
  11. Hi Loren, I checked again this last Sunday, and observed that the 3rd lights stop work well, for the rear wing raised and unraised, they work...

  13. dear members, I understand that my post may not get any responses, maybe because the message error I constantly receive has never occurred to your cars. However, may I ask you if it may be possible that the message error were born from the fact that the automatic door-lock programming had been set using the PIWIS of my dealer? :lightbulb: Thank you.
  14. Dear members, I wonder if any of you already have observed the '3rd stop check' message on their 997 computer console? I've got it twice after leaving the dealer for the auto door-locking set up through the 'piwis'. this message had never appeared before. I went back to the dealer and make the 3rd stop checked but everything is correct. They plug the piwis and got the message '3rd stop too high leveled' or something like that. They ended up by erasing the error message and concluded that everything is normal.
  15. Hi Orient, Again, thanks for your precise information and accuracy. I've managed to do as you had told me to and everything is okay. They also call this protective film a 'stone guard', for other members who would look for a simple keyword reference.
  16. Dear fellow members, Forgive me for the long title and the surely innacurate description of the part I wish to talk you about. Rear sides plastic transparent adhesives : precisely, the transparent adhesives which you can find between the door and the rear wheel (I think my description is more awful...). They are designed to protect the lower body area located as above, from small rocks and other road elements. They are transparent on 996s and 997s types. I discovered that one of mines had been largely scratched and I still don't know how. The point is that, as my vehicle is arctic silver, the 'wound' on the plastic has made the surface rough and eneven and the transparency now lets its place for a dark grey tone on the rub surface. My questions are simple: 1. Have you already had those kind of scratches on the rear side plastic transparent adhesives? 2. Is it easy to replace the adhesives ? I presume a Porsche dealer can do it. But I mean, can I already take it off by myself without deteriorating the arctic paint? I would be very glad if you could respond to one of my questions at least. I know it's not a big deal, but I felt a bit sorry to discover that this afternoon and don't know what to do about it. Thank you for your help. zacharie.
  17. Dear fellow members, I have a question that might look stupid but I need some advice. My car has 3100 miles already. On the exit ramp to the highway today, I push the car a bit hard and ended up to 6000 rpm in third. Well it's the first time I do that but I wonder if acting like that is bad for my engine. Do you think I could reduce its lifetime with that kind of driving? (i mean 3rd and 6000 rpm looks like incompatible to me). Well I did it for 3-5 seconds and the oil temp was is the middle, as well as engine temp. Thank for letting me know :(

  20. Dear Users, I've never noticed it before but today, as I was playing with the console buttons of my car on park. When I make the rear wing goes upward, everything goes fine. However, when I make the rear wing folds down, just before it completely sets itself down, I have a strange 'gronnnk' noise. I've repeated the operation several times, and I still have the 'gronnnk' noise at the end of the folding action. Well, is that normal to have that 'gronnnk' noise? [no...there are no mices or strange animals complaining of the rear wing motion in the engine compartment.] Would that be because I wash my car too often (every two weeks or so) ? Does you car make this same noise? If no, what remedy should I opt for?

  22. Thank you for your response. Yes indeed, it's a part related to the exhaust manifold [see picture, bottom of part number 5] . In fact, it is the systems support for the exhaust manifold. The paint I put on as a protection is called Thermo 600 from Julien [a french product]; the formula is studied for temperatures approaching 600 degrees celcius. Do you think I should remove the paint and let it get rusty as day one? Have you already observed that rusty film over the system support? Orient Express, if you read my post, may i also ask your advice please? Thanks. zacharie

Dear fellow members, I would be extremely grateful to you if you could give me your opinion on the following matter: I discovered underneath my car the very corroded following part [see e.g. picture]. I've treated the part with an anti-rust product and covered it with a high resistant temperature transparent paint. My car is a four months old 997. Before the treatment, the part was all covered with red rust. The picture below is after treatment. Well, is that normal? I would be interested to know if you've experienced the same "flaw" on your 996s or 997s, and if you've applied a treatment in the case of corrosion of this particular part. However, be very attentive to the fact that this part is very hot after engine operation.
  24. I don't understand why you would need two of them. I have one in the maintenance manual and it is enough. no?
