  1. Thanks for the quick response everyone. I have a CDR220 unit so I don't believe there is an amp? Not sure how to tell though. I have only had my car for a couple months so still learning what everything iis. I expect I'm dealing with 18 watts from the radio. The front speakers don't sound that great either but I guess it's hard to expect much sound from the 18 watts no matter what speaker is in there. Did you all upgrade your front speakers and door speakers? Amp? I want to add the rear but don't want to dump too much money in to it at the moment. Sounds like adding the speakers and an amp is the best way to go without dumping to much money in the project. Can I hook up an amp for all the speakers (6channel I guess) and have it work correctly with the becker cdr220? Thanks, Ryan
  2. I was getting ready to order an OEM rear speaker kit for my 02 Boxster S - pna-986-kit-sp for $129. I just saw some info on another kit from harvey for $220... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-Box...id=p3911.c0.m14 item#220268094858 on ebay. I have been reading the previous posts on both but haven't found anything really comparing the two and if the extra $90 is worth it for the harvey kit. I saw pictures of the speakers and they look better with bigger magnets. I wonder if you really notice the differnce between the kits since it's behind the seat head rest anyway. Would love to get input from someone who's heard both of them. thanks much, Ryan 02 Boxster S 6spd Palm Springs, CA area
  3. Does anyone happen to know what the highest octane is that you should run in a 2002 boxster S? I can only get 91 in CA but do have race gas available locally. I think it's over 100 octane though. Would there be any noticable advantage to running a higher octane if I could keep within the maximum? I don't go to the track, just on the street. Thanks, Ryan 2002 boxster S Palm Springs, CA area
  4. Did you have any problems lining things back up? Did you get the kit which includes the shift linkage kit as well? Where did you buy yours and what did you pay if you don't mind sharing? Thanks much, Ryan
  5. has anyone installed one of the knock-off ebay short shifters for about $80? I have been looking at those, the schnell and the B&M. I imagine the B&M is the best but don't have too much extra cash for that option now. I was getting ready to order the schnell kit with the extra linkage but wanted to get some input from people that have used them? Love to hear what everyone is using. Good or bad remarks. Thanks, Ryan 2002 Boxster S 6speed Black ext/gray int. ugly amber headlights... Palm Springs, CA area
  6. Sorry for the redundant post. I thought I had it straight and am now confused after this thread. I have a 2002 Boxster S and want to remove the amber from the front headlights. Based on this thread, that is not possible. Is that correct? I'm assuming the reason is because the amber is in the plastic it self and not just the inside panel. Again, sorry for the redundant question. Thanks, Ryan
  7. Ryan, Point well taken. Thanks for the save. Ryan
  8. I am thinking about getting a chrome exchange for my 2002 boxster s. I have 17" turbo style oem wheels now. I was going to do the chrome exchange with LA Wheels but they don't have my wheel in stock. They offered to let me trade to a different porsche wheel. I found one that I like from a carrera. It's a 17" as well. The front wheel is the same size and the rear is 1/2" wider. The offset is slightly different on the rear and should stick out only 1mm from stock. They should clear on the inside of the wheel fine. You can see the wheels and info at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...ARL:MOTORS:1123 My question is does anyone see any problem with this switch? I don't know if the wheels are any heavier or any other reason I should be concerned. I thought about going to an 18" wheel but I'm pretty happy with the ride now and don't want to sacrifice any comfort of the ride by moving to 18s. Plus I don't have to buy tires now. Thanks for any opinions or comments. Ryan
  9. Hi Loren, Do you happen to know how to get the code for a becker cdR220. It's s/n is 15009805. It's in my 2002 boxster s. Thanks, Ryan Try 5227 or 5225 I tried both of those plus 5226 but no luck. Any other thoughts? Thanks much for the quick response... Ryan
  10. Hi Loren, Do you happen to know how to get the code for a becker cdR220. It's s/n is 15009805. It's in my 2002 boxster s. Thanks, Ryan
  11. I have a 2002 S and was looking at upgrading from my turbo 17" stock rims. I was nervouse about going to an 18" because of the stiffer ride. I think the 18s look nicer but don't want to loose the nice ride. I was curious if you had looked at the 911 wheels like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FACTORY-17-...03206QQtcZphoto I was curious if they are any heavier than my stock turbo style? They are from a 911 and have a same offset in front and 5mm difference in the rear but are a 1/2 inch wider in the rear so it's 10mm difference total offset. The wheels are from LA Wheel. They chrome and resell OEM wheels. They probably have the 18" you are looking for if you want chrome.
