  1. Im going to try to fit an LS1 in my boxster chassis
  2. Looking for the picture with the LT1 in the front of there boxster? Anyone?
  3. I gotcha now, I was thinking the alarm box played a more indepth roll in the starting of the car. I thought it comunicated with the dme(ecu??) giving a known voltage(or what have you) not a standard 12v via a relay/switch. I feel I can do this now, thought there was more to it than it appears there is. Might go out tonight and play around with it a bit. Thanks a ton Loren and hope I didnt get under your skin. Kinda hard to communicate fully what is being said by words on a screen. Nothing like talking face to face, but how often are you able to find the right person to talk to that just happens to be in front of you. Thanks again!
  4. Has anyone ever done it? Your saying, simply unplugging it should bypass it or do you mean, basicly jumping the box?
  5. So taking the car to them is a must. If I carry them the car, and the box turns out to be bad, do I have to have it reprogramed again(the key) for the new box? Basically yes. You must have a working alarm/door lock/drive block control to start the car - unless you decide to bypass that whole system. Is that an option and still keep the porsche engine/ engine ecu? Please excuse all my questions, this car has got to have the most PITA alarm/starting stuff EVER! Still wondering about this?

Ive searched on a way to bypass the whole system(box under the floor) but cant find any info on this. Care to elaborte some? PS, this is the fastest site I visit! Ill be sure to send a donation asap
  7. What this does(on the cars I have worked on, may be diff for porsche) when you got WOT with koeo, then go to koer position is it cuts ALL fuel to the injectors, helping/trying to remove any unburnt fuel in the cylinders

  10. Heres my delima. I am using a wrecked 97 boxster chassis for my murcielago project. I need to see which is going to make the most sense for me. First, I have a key, but its the spare key(the one with the little head thing on it, with NO program in it) The car only has 17,324 miles on it. Now, I can bite the bullet and carry the key to the dealership, have them put the programable head on it and put the program in it HOPING that it will now start. BUT, since the car has been stored for quite a few years I am affraid the box under the drivers seat(DME??) may be bad also. Can these be purchased used? I think I read it can be used IF its not been used in over 3 vehicles AND if you have the original VIN from the car it came out of AND that it be of the same year(anyone confirm). ASSUMING I get it running, I have a few suspension peices that will have to be replaced before the real work starts(gotta cut the boxster in half behind the drivers seat, stretch it, then install the murcie body on top of it) Okay, now lets assume for a moment that getting the used key I have, getting a programable head on it and having it programed. What is the cost? Lets now assume that the key(which has to be done anyway to get to this step) doesnt fix it and I need a new/used box, what is the cost of this? Can I use the key I will have just had done for the car programed for use with the new box? At this point, I dont want/need a spare key so I would prefer to use my precut key for this. IF it all works out to where she is up and running, I will have another key done as a spare. Thanks in advance everyone! BTW, IF all this doesnt work or is just too expensive hoping it will fix it, I am just going to cut the car in half right after the roll bars(right behind the seat) and sell the engine/trans/suspension, etc... and build a tubular rear section to hold a v8/audi trans. This will give me the stretch I need, plus make it a lot lighter in the rear to try to get the balance a little more 50/50. Thats my story :P
  11. Could someone here possibly PM me what I should be asking for an engine/trans out of a 97 boxster(non s) with 17,000 miles? I will also be selling all computers, etc.. I would like to keep this in PM's so not to clutter up this section. Mods, if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move. I just honestly dont know ANYTHING about these cars thanks in advance!
  12. Anyone know what model audi uses the same switch? My local parts dealer cant find it using th epart number(no big shocker there) but if I can give them the exact model/year they may be able to find it thanks!
  13. Cool deal guys, thought that might be what it was via a search on the net. Im sure Im a LONG ways from being done with the questions though!
  14. Hey everyone, newbie here! I got a 97 boxster that was in a wreck. I cant get the key out? Also, I keep reading that the keys are programed, but mine doesnt have enough room in the plastic peice to hold a battery? I only have one key also. I tried searching the word "key" but nothing come up. thanks in advance!
