  1. Loren, After my cars first winter hibernation, I hooked the battery back up to find I don't have the radio code, your help would be appreciated, thanks, 97 boxster cd 210 serial # v5008805
  2. Hello all, I recently replaced all of my wheel bearings on my 97 986 with the help of seafeye's "wheel bearing 101" and 102 articles. Before I got started I was looking for a tool to take care of it, and for a reasonable cost.... well I couldn't find one for sale, but I found better. I found an article on a VW GTI wheel bearing change that looked eerily similar. They rented there tool from Germanautoparts.com I called them up and spoke to Mark, and gave him the dimensions of the bearings, etc. And it seemed like a good match. The tool rental was 25 bucks a week plus shipping and a 300 dollar deposit. The tool worked great, had bolts to remove the hub, and all the appropriate plates and cups to remove and install the bearings. Very happy with the results, just wanted to give the list the heads up, Rody
  3. Hello All, I have been working to fix some oil leaks on my car, and am in process of changing the power steering pump. I discovered alot of oil on the top of the engine, pooling in journals, and some little pools in the intake manifolds. I've traced the intake manifold oil back to the AOS, and have ordered a replacement for it. In the process, I pulled the Oil Heat exchanger on the top of the engine thinking it might be leaking also.... I can't really tell if it was, but now that I've pulled it, I want to replace the O-rings. Now the problem I am having is getting the right o-rings..... there was some kind of change to the heat exchanger... pictures usually show it with a water connection on top, mine does NOT have that connection. On the oil connections, mine has only one o-ring per oil connection. In the Bentley manual, it shows a picture of a unit with two o-rings per oil connection.... with a note that older units don't have these and should be retrofited if there is some beveled edge. To confuse me even further, the PET parts katalog is showing an additional part "intermediate Plate" that my car also does not have, and 4 possible O-Ring parts... Does anyone have any experience with replacing/upgrading these on a 97 boxster? Help would be appreciated, Rody 97 boxster 2.5 manual
  4. -Are the sensors part of a larger mechanism, or can I replace just the sensor? -I'll check the horn tonight FYI, I am in the US (Columbus Ohio), am I correct in the operation of the alarm I stated? Thanks for the quick responses,
  5. Hello all, I have been searching for some help with issues on my 97 boxster, and not had any luck: I have two issues with the alarm/central locking: 1) the doors will only lock every fifth or sixth times when using the key remotes... not an absolute #, it is very inconsistent. when it does NOT lock, you hear the locks click twice... perhaps once trying to lock, and a second time unlocking. then you hear a relay click after. Since there is only one button on the remote to lock and unlock the doors, I am guessing there must be a sensor in the door locks that will tell the alarm control unit if the doors are in the locked or unlocked position. Is this the case? If true, can you replace just that sensor, or is the switch integrated to the door handle or lock mechanism? 2) Issue two relates to the relay click... when the alarm has a fault, I've read that it should honk the horn to indicate it. I am guessing the relay click is for the horn, but the horn does not sound. I have confirmed this on one of the rare occasions that the doors stay locked, and tried to set off the alarm. I hear relay clicking, but no horn. FYI, the horn works fine by normal means of pushing the steering wheel center. I have heard reference to alarm codes, I have a scangauge that will read OBDII codes, will it also read these alarm codes I have heard of? Thanks in advane for any help,
