  1. I will check the bill if I can locate it. I am back on the forum now checking out what other noises I can now hear after having the suspension one fixed :cursing: The suspension noise would drown everything out.
  2. I have the same ride and live in Utah. My car runs about that hot anytime I get in the upper elevations. If I drive up to Snowbird, especially at slower speeds it will get hot. Weird thing is I can run over 100mph over Parleys without the temp needle moving. That's even after having to slow down to 50 because I just got cut off by a semi. How do you get the direction to show up on the left side of the gauge? Gotta look into that.
  3. Finally got it figured out after a few years. Ended up at the dealer who replaced the lower swing arms again, which didn't fix it. Then they replaced the suspension mounts which did. Just in case anyone else has this happen. One time where I wish I would have used the dealer from the start. I had two shops want to replace the full suspension at a cost of around $6000. Glad I at least didn't make that mistake!
  4. No advice on whether to replace the drop links or just the whole suspension? Stealthn, what did they tell you? Digg
  5. Well, finally got in to replace the lower a arms. The stealer said the bushing were bad and that was causing the noise. I took the vehicle to an indy to have the work done. After fixing them though the noise was still there. I checked the old a arms and saw the bushings that were cracked, so they did need to replaced, but now I'm stuck with the same issue after spending 1k. The shop tells me that I should replace the front right and left suspension. That will only be another 4 to 5k. Not worth it in my book to stop a rattle. I don't normally hear it when the stereo is on. Would the replacing the drop links be a better option? I see that they are only 30 dollars from Pelican. I'm not into chasing the noise with my pocketbook. Especially when we're talking a couple of grand. Thanks again for any help. Digg
  6. By the way, the post on Pelican parts forum was excellent((link on Richard Hamiltons post). Best write up I've seen on this. Again, should have done it myself!
  7. So I got the car back today. I took the alternator to an "old school" alternator repair shop. Told him I thought it was the regulator, but rebuild it if necessary. He told me that the new Bosch regulators are total crap and that he was 99% sure it was just the regulator. A few hours later I had my wife pick it up with a new voltage regulator installed. Total cost $50 including tax. Got the shop to install it. They worked me over for $250 for the diagnosis and install. Lame, since I told them the regulator was probably the problem, so not much diagnosis on their part. Plus three hours shop time. I thought I read on here about a poster with limited skills doing the tear down and install in about an hour. Oh, well. still saved me five hundred or more. Next time I will pull it and do it myself. Also, may be just a coincidence, but I had just washed the car, before the problem started. Someone else wrote they had problems after doing the same. He now covers the engine lid with plastic. I might have to do the same. Digg
  8. Thanks for all the help. I have read through about 40 pages about this on Renntech and 6speed, but nobody mentioned how or where to get the regulator. All the places I called sold the alternator in one piece. Without a part number or such it was impossible for me to find. Now, my problem is the car is dismantled at the shop, with them wanting the car gone and me not wanting it left outside in the winter as I wait for the part to ship. Should of tried the DIY, but I chickened out. After watching a high school dropout try and replace a bulb on my Cayanne the other day I shouldn't be so intimidated. Thanks again, especially for the quick responses. This forum has saved my *** a few times already. Digg
  9. I can't seem to find out where to buy this. I have an 03 TT that has the Christmas light dashboard. I have installed a new battery. The shop says the alternator is bad and needs to be replaced. They want $500 for the alternator plus shop time. If I can't get a voltage regulator, any problems with a Duralast reman? Any particular after market. The shop doesn't recommend it, but an alternator should last more than 40k miles. Especially if its a $50 part that is the problem. Sounds like a design flaw to me. Why would you replace it with the same junk? Dealer pricing of $1200 for an item that gives out in most vehicle around 30k miles, crazy!! Digg
  10. Thanks for the update. I will try in get the car in for the repair. Mine doesn't seem to affect the suspension at all, just makes a bit of noise. I thought at first it was from the car being in freezing temps and creaking a bit before warming up. Nice to have some info before getting blindsided by an overzealous shop! You didn't say this, but I do imagine this solved the problem, right? Digg
  11. Did you end up getting this fixed? My wife's CTT is doing the same thing, making a suspension noise on the passenger side. I'd like to know what it is before I end up with another expensive dealer repair that doesn't fix the problem. Digg
  12. Just got my car back from the shop after having the front pads changed. Now both the ABS and PSM show up in the warnings. Is there a quick fix for this or does it need to go back in the shop? Don't want to do that if it is something I can do myself. Also seems like the the car doesn't shift as early as it did previously, don't know if this is related to the PSM. Any help? Thanks, Dirk
  13. I'm new here trying to find the nav cd for the west for a 2004 Cayenne TT. Does anyone have access to a copy or should I try and purchase at the dealer? Thanks, Mike
