  1. Loren my 02 C4S is an early Jan 02 model. Would my old cluster be compatible with ttreat's?
  2. Logray, I'm sure you could probably come close with a lot of elbow grease. I thought about it believe me but how long would it last is the question? Once I took them out of the box and felt them though. I knew, at least I could never come close to reproducing them. They have an almost hardened powder coated feel but still slightly flexable. If you've ever had something powder coated then you know what that feels like. I assume it has a lot to do with the layering and curing process.
  3. I don't know about the compatability issue. But I'm replacing my cluster next week and it will be available. Here's my post w/video attached. Maybe you can use it for parts if it's compatable with your model. http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic/40637-gauge-cluster-gone-haywire/
  4. With all the new models out there looking great, I felt that it was time to do a little update to the look on my 02 C4S's rear end. I've added dual exhaust tips and painted bumperettes from Bumperplugs (came in today thanks Eric). I know this has been said in other posts in years past but let me say it, the quality of work done by them on these in my opinion is breathtaking. Well worth the wait and the $300. I thought long and hard about the DIY thing and I'm so glad I didn't attempt it. The bumperettes have a better than factory feel to them without a doubt. Here are some before and after photos. I'm thinking of getting the Carrera 4s emblems done in the same color. Comments are welcome. Just thought I'd share.
  5. Update...thank you for the responses. Well I did disconnect the GC before I disconnected the battery. This morning I disconnected the battery and rechecked the connectors again and they are connected. Here is a video of the car running w/GC still a blitz. I guess maybe I did fry the electronics...unless you guys have more suggestions on things I should try. If I get another GC will it have to be programed by the dealer? or will it be plug and play? Sorry for all the questions. I'm frustrated and kicking myself for picking with it. This car has been rock solid compared to other cars I've had. Never had any problems and I still love driving it. Video loads in a couple of seconds...had the cover over the lens.
  6. Yesterday I removed my gauge cluster on my 02 C4S to run my Valentine 1 cable behind it. Well after pluging everything back in the cluster started to go haywire with indicator lights. The control arm for the PCM is not operation as well now. I rechecked the connecters on the back side of the cluster to be sure twice. Just seeing if anyone has any sudgestions on what's wrong before I take it to the dealer. I checked for codes but there are none didplayed on the OBII pocket scanner. The car runs as normal. The speedometer, rpm, battery meters are working but the gas, oil pressure, and temp sens gauge are not working. Basicly everythying on the right side of the instruments are not moving. Here is a video. I hope it works I'm not to good at the whole upload thing.
  7. Thanks for the advice. How do you check that? Here is an update of what I've done. I didn't mention previously I did a visual inspection of the coil pack and plug on cylinder 3 and didn't swap the plug/coil with another cylinder as suggested in another post. So I was going to have the car flat bed to Hoehn to get it checked out . Well, yesterday I disconnected the battery to reset the values/clear code, swapped out bank 3 with bank 1to try and rule out a spark issue. Spark plug wire was going to be next (they're originals). I fired the car up and didn't get a cell. Idle was much better with the exception of an intermittent pop/sputter from the exhaust. Took the car for a test drive and I could tell the car was misfiring with slight loss of power. Brought the car back to the garage and took the coil pack from cyl1 that was originally on cyl 3 off and replaced it with an old one. Fired the car up test drove it and wow! smooth idle, no code, and no back fire/w power restored. I'm hoping it was just a bad or failed coil pack. What made me think of swapping the old coil for the new was, I bought my coil packs supposedly new from a guy on Ebay to save a couple of bucks and I think I got swindled. Lesson learned there or just a bad one? I don't know. Is there a way to test the suspect coil pack? Going to keep monitoring to see if the issue returns. Anyway, sorry for being long winded just want to be helpful with some simple trouble shooting I was doing for others who may have or will be experiencing the same problem. Just sharing, but here's a picture of my car after today's test drive.
  8. Hello everyone, My 2002 C4S got it's first CEL a couple of days ago. I haven't been able to go in the garage and look at it till today.. Here's what happened, I woke up to start the car as normal and got a blinking check engine light and rough idle. I hooked the reader up and got a CEL P0303 misfire cylinder 3. I've read the posts about checking the plug and coil pack on cylinder 3 which I did. Here is a picture of the plug and coil that I replaced 6 weeks ago. I here other posts mentioning bad MAFS or stuck variocam. Anyone have any ideas? The car has been running just fine even as it was pulled into the garage the night before this happened. I have what also looks like a leaking variocam solenoid next to that cylinder. Could that be the root of the problem? See pic.
  9. Bought my 2002 C4S at 34. In shock of the stunning car, I slept in it in the garage the first night.
  10. Eviebo. Here is a picture of one my plugs and a coil packs new versus old. You can see the cracked housing on one of the spark plugs. My car ran very timed taking off from 1st and 2nd gear. I had no problems at higher RPMS previous to the change. I believe this and or the cracked coil packs were the culprit. You can find quite a few helpful posts on this topic. I did the work myself and had a lot of fun doing it . Good luck Regards, Vernon
  11. Thanks for the advice. I haven't ordered it yet myself but it's getting real anoying. Sometimes I forget I put on a left turn and it doesn't release so I ride down the road for a mile or so with the blinker on like a fool. I use to think to myself, hey look at that idiot with their blinker still on riding down the road. Now I'm the one doing it. I'll keep that in mind (selling the old one) when I DIY it. I see a lot of people use Suncoast here. I've been comitted to Pelican Parts for a while now but they wanted $407 for the part which surprised me. Looks like Maurice found the best deal.
  12. I had the same problem. I wasn't getting a code so I just replaced all my spark plugs and coil packs and now the car runs like a champ. :P
  13. Thanks Scubadawg. I found this online, is this a good price to pay for a new one? Switch Assembly Were did you purchase yours?
