  1. Help! my passenger side side markers, tail light are not working. Driver side turns on but passenger side is off. Also, no 3rd parking light and no under hood light. Driver side fog light is off. fuse 41 keeps blowing out. I took out both side markers, fog lights and tail lights and made sure all terminals are connected and bulbs are good. 2 front grounds under head light have been cleaned. Rear ground in trunk is cleaned too. Hazard light works on all corners any idea? I dont see a short or broken wire. How do i further trouble shoot?
  2. stuttgart autohaus in moraga. they use OEM parts and does a fine job on maintenance stuff. not sure abt their troubleshooting skill. adolf's autohaus in san ramon is another shop i heard but not used personally. lastly, livermore porsche and fremont porsche often run very competitive specials. i heard they do a good job. my personal experience is at carlsen porsche which is always top notch but a little pricey.
  3. age isn't the issue if the tires are less than 6-7 years old, and they don't have any dry cracks. as said, check center of the tire as that wears faster. when it is close to wear bar, you are due.
  4. I have a leak in my AC condenser. Is it easy to change? Any one has done it and have any hints or how to? I think I have to remove the engine cover from underneath the car. There are some bolts and 2 hoses to disconnect. Are the bolts easy to get to? Does the condenser come out easily? Do pre-85 condenser work with my 1990 944 S2? Part numbers are different but I spotted a great deal for a new one for the older version on ebay. Thanks!
  5. Brought the car home today. It drove great. Clutch is good and timing belt, rollers and water pump were done in 2003 and 23,000 miles ago. Think I am due for new belt still? Car is garaged and pampered in CA.
  6. Thanks guys. Which corner of the car should I jack up to access the clutch inspection hole? Sorry, I'm a newbie with 951 and obviously don't have access to the car yet.
  7. I am buying a 1990 944 S2 with 90k miles. Clutch is original and last timing belt service is unknown. Is there a way to test is the clutch is good while driving? What's the easiest way to inspect the timing belt's condition? Lastly, is it easy to remove the front seat leather? Some seams are coming apart. Thanks!
  8. I heard vinegar works too. I had this yesterday but was able to wash it off after a few hours being sprayed by the sprinkler. If nothing works still, try some Goo Off spray.
  9. Yup, definitely change it every 2 years. Use quality fluid like Porsche factory, ATE Blue, Motul RB600.
  10. contact eric the plug guy if you want a colored cover for your bumperette. note that a painted one may be easily damaged if you parallel park a lot.
  11. it's so easy to drain the oil so what's the purpose of these? it's also good to change the gasket on the drain plug.
  12. if u have a 99-2001 and ur bumperette is colored, it's an aftermarket cover that sticks on the bumperette itself. if it's 2002-2005, the bumperette is colored and clipped to the bumper cover. you'll have to pull the bumper cover off to reattach the bumperette. if it's 99-2001 and it's not colored, i think it's also clipped on. not sure if the bumper cover needs to be removed to do that.
  13. you may want to reset the window switch by holding it down for 10 seconds with key in powered on position.
  14. i think this is OEM and should fit your car given it's a MK1 996 bumper.
  15. just insert the key in door key hole to raise and lower top. why need to remote operate top?
  16. someone did it on a 986 with lots of pics. search this forum
  17. did you check out tirerack? you'll have all the tires choices listed with reviews to compared with. like kabel said, you can run plus size on front if 205 is not available in PS2. plus size can be chosen on tirerack as well. besides PS2, there are other high performance tires such as RE050, PZero, S02 that are N spec (porsche approved).
  18. 17 in wheels could be had for fairly cheap and would be a good choice for track tires. keep your 18 in for street. this is if you have room for extra set of wheels and you plan on doing a few DE a year. if you only go once or twice a year, you may want to just use the street tires bc your savings will be limited. i don't see myself going more than 2x year so i'm just keeping one set of wheels for now and keep an eye out for almost new street tires at bargain prices. for example, i bot 4 Pilot Sports in 18" for $550 the other day. 2 of them are new and others barely worn. there are good deals out there since most will not wait for used tires when they need fresh rubber.
  19. you can forget about insurance at track. almost no one has it.
  20. pca in sf area allows oem pop up. just about all track organizers and tracks approve the pop up too. this includes thunderhill, infineon, laguna seca. ask the track organiser....
  21. if you aren't tracking your car, you can just patch the puncture tire too.
